Chapter 74: This, this, heavenly beauty! (¯﹃¯)

Ethan entered the mansion, he went upstairs to their room and there was no sign of Eva or Julian.

He searched around, passing through the kitchen but Eva wasn’t there. He stopped searching and returned to their room, knowing she’d be in her space with Julian.

In Eva’s space, she sprawled across a bed of grass. She watched Julian from the corner of her eyes, heavy with sleep.

Julian stretched, his muscles sore after weeding half of the field. The other half would be for Ethan, he wasn’t going to suffer alone.

He suddenly remembered Ethan hadn’t returned, turning to Eva who barely kept her eyes open.

"Check if Ethan’s back." He dropped beside her, his body glistening with sweat, he felt too sore to move.

Eva yawned, noticing his fatigue and the cleared field, she grew a conscience and transferred energy from the air into his body.

A green glow covered Julian’s body, soaking his body in warmth. A sigh escaped his lips as his stiff muscles relaxed.

"Thanks," Julian whispered in a grateful tone. Eva hummed falling back to the ground like a salted fish.

Her eyes were about to close when Julian nudged her shoulder, waking her up.

"Uhh, stop, let me sleep." Eva’s voice was thick with sleep as she turned to her side.

"You haven’t checked if Ethan is back or packed food for our stay in your space. Remember, it was your idea." Julian turned her to the side, ruffling her hair and pinching her cheeks to keep her awake.

Eva frowned at the disturbance, "Ah! Why! (¬_¬")" she shouted in frustration, her sleepiness clearing as she glared at him.

Julian blinked innocently with his palms raised in surrender. Eva snorted, flashing out of her space to go check and get some food so she could return to her peaceful sleep.

Appearing in their room, Ethan bumped into her, causing her to stumble and hit her side against the door.

Hiss...

"I’m sorry, are you alright?" Ethan asked with concern, holding her in his arms. His gaze fell on her clutching side, noticing her watery eyes. He quickly lifted her clothes to examine the extent of the wound.

He frowned, distressed when he saw the red mark on her pale skin. He retrieved a balm from his ring, coated his fingers, and pressed it onto her wound.

"Ouch! Don’t press it too hard," Eva winced, feeling his treatment more painful than the actual wound.

She squirmed out of his hold, holding him at arm’s length. ’’I’ll rub it myself, pass me the balm.’’ Eva stretched her free hand toward him, but he held it away.

"No, I have to do it myself. You won’t be able to massage it in, and it might swell later," Ethan said firmly, inching closer to her.

Eva inched backwards, her gaze darting for the door. "It’s just a slight bump. It wouldn’t become that serious, (。•́‿•̀。)." Her sweet pleading face did nothing to change his mind.

He only had the urge to pinch her cheeks and nothing else. Eva noticed her pretty face wasn’t working. She inched closer to the door, but Ethan held her by the waist, careful not to press her side.

His hand inched closer under Eva’s panicked gaze. ’’Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle,’’ Ethan whispered gently but before his hands could touch her side, his surroundings suddenly changed.

He was caught off guard, allowing Eva to slip from his hold and reappear back in the room.

"Phew... that was close." Eva patted her chest in relief, grateful she had been quick enough to send him to her space.

Recalling his dazed expression, Eva giggled. "I’m so smart, I even fear myself (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)." With a cool expression, she strode out of the room, a skip in her steps.

She headed straight for the kitchen. The chef spotted her from afar and turned to escape.

’’Hold up! Why do you run every time you see me, huh?’’ Eva touched her face in suspicion. Was he jealous of her beauty?

The chef froze, his hands trembling slightly. "Why am I on duty today? Why?!" he muttered under his breath, his eyes welling with tears.

’’Huh? Did you say something?’’ Eva tilted her head in doubt, she could hear whispers but not the words clearly.

The chef turned to her with a smile worse than crying. ’’Madam, what do you want to eat today?’’ he forced out with a resigned expression, ready for his hand cramps.

Eva’s eyes brightened, ’’Did that restaurant bring my meat today? How much meat do we have left?’’ She asked, walking into the kitchen with the chef following after her like a reluctant wife.

"Madam we have enough meat in the cold room. Master Ethan ordered the butler to purchase meat from the restaurants around." He answered truthfully no matter how badly he wanted to lie.

Striding towards the door of the cold room, he opened it and entered with Eva following along.

As soon as she walked in, she shivered; it was so cold that she could see visible ice on the ground, but the rest were covered in darkness.

"How is it still cold, the power is out?" Eva asked with a puzzled expression.

"With the help of Master Ethan’s powers." He responded as he uncovered a closed crystal.

As he uncovered it, lights illuminated the room, and Eva could fully see its content. (☆▽☆) "This, this, heavenly beauty! (¯﹃¯) "

Eva was starstruck by the variety of meats lining the walls, her words incoherent as she drooled.

The chef stood there with a helpless expression, explaining that his master had ordered all the meat the restaurant had.

Anyway, the meat wouldn’t go to waste; it was better in their hands than in the restaurant’s, where there was no power to prevent it from spoiling.

"I want this, this, and this. Fry them, roast them, whatever—just make it delicious." Eva’s instructions snapped him out of his daze.

His eyes widened as he watched her point at different cuts of meat, even bringing some out herself.

"Stop dawdling, and come help me," Eva called out, feeling the chef was too slow for her liking.

"M-M-Madam, isn’t it too much, what of stable foods?" He stuttered, his hand trembling from the amount of work he was going to do.

He noticed her pause and became hopeful that she would change her mind, but her next words made him stumble to the ground, almost bursting out in tears.

"Hmm, this one’s for me, you have to cook another one for my husbands," Eva uttered, then turned to pick out Ethan and Julian’s portions, ignoring the tearful chef.

She hummed happily as they carried the meat back to the kitchen, her eyes following the busy, stressed chef.

Seeing there wasn’t anything for her to do, she left under the relieved sigh of the chef. He felt her stare boring into him, making him self-conscious and uncomfortable.

Eva walked around the mansion as she waited for the food to be ready; she took some bottles of water and their bed into her space.

She walked around, checking for anything she’d forgotten, but her steps slowed as she passed the room where their beasts were.
