Chapter 67: Oh~ you’re awake
Selina was too stunned to respond to Zoey’s polite refusal.
The team beside Zoey’s team couldn’t bear to see her saddened expression, and their leader came to Selina’s rescue.
’’Miss, if you don’t mind, you can join our team. We need a healer.’’ He said in a polite, gentlemanly voice. That’s if you ignore the lust hidden in his eyes.
’’Thanks. I’m Selina.’’ She said with an inquiry tone. ’’I’m George. The leader of the Skull team.’’ Introducing himself, he pointed to his team, his hands gesturing for her to come over.
Selina shot a prideful glance at Zoey before following George to his team of six men and two women. The large team reassured her, and she sent George a grateful glance.
Her Innocent silver eyes made his throat dry. His gaze darkened with determination and lust—such a high-quality woman can only be his.
But his expression showed no hint of it. Selina introduced herself, nodding as each member stated their name. She ignored the two women’s hostile stares and moved closer to George.
Unable to take her team, probing question-filled gazes, Zoey explained her reasons to them.
’’You brainless idiots. I may love beautiful faces, but that doesn’t mean I like to be burdened by one.’’ She paused and shot a glare at the man who opposed her decision, and he quickly shot a pleading look at her, hiding himself from her sight. He didn’t want to face her brutal punishment.
’’That beauty obviously is a non-combat healer. If it were normal dungeon raiding, I wouldn’t be bothered,, but this time, we are exploring the unknown. I can’t put you all in danger for some beautiful face.’’ At her explanation, they were touched—they trusted their leader more, not some random stranger, no matter how beautiful she was.
Their leader had saved them through countless dangers and hadn’t left anyone behind, so after the disappointment of not having a fresh face on the team, they went back to normal.
A few minutes later, a minibus pulled up, and twenty people stepped out. The scientist tags on their chest made the raiders’ expressions turn serious.
’’We are the space team, here are the ground rules for this event.’’ The leader of the scientist team spoke sternly, explaining the rules to everyone.
They were warned not to steal another’s egg and were required to wait for the remaining survivors to be taken out at once.
Though there weren’t any guards, the raiders didn’t dare ignore their words. They didn’t want to be hunted down by the scientist guild, plus the famous Madam Grace’s name was added to this mission; it was like being caged in by two huge mountains and with any mistake, they would be squashed to death.
Their expression grew solemn, picking up on the words survivors. It finally dawned on some people that the mission would be dangerous.
They weren’t perverted like Ethan and the rest. Some might give up, some wouldn’t even have the chance to give up.
The leader called his team to open a warp gate to the dungeon. This time, they combined their powers to create a bigger warp gate for the crowd to enter.
Every team put on an oxygen mask and passed through the warp gate. After the last of them passed the space users followed along as the warp gate closed.
Another warp gate was opened, and they finally walked into the dungeon. Removing their breathing mask, they kept it carefully in their space bag or normal bag.
It costs an arm and leg just to get one of those from the scientist guide. George handed Selina a spare oxygen mask.
They passed the last warp gate before they stood in front of a hovering gate in the middle of the dungeon; they were fortunate; the dungeon monsters were still adapting to the dungeon changes, or their numbers would have been short before they reached their destination.
They were caught off-guard by the space belt. Selina was startled by the downward pull of the space belt.
Her hair lashed against her face, stinging her skin. She tried to maintain her ladylike grace, but it was useless under the strong pull.
After some minutes and what seemed like hours to Selina, they reached their destination.
Walking out of the light, gasps were heard from the crowd; even Selina was in awe of the mysterious ancient beauty of the pillars.
The leader of the scientist team quickly recollected himself; it was his first time seeing such a sight, but his mission was important.
He quickly informed the crowd of the towers, and they frowned at the thought of separating from their teammates, and they lacked the enthusiasm to touch the pillars.
Muttering was heard around them, ’’Why can’t we touch the pillars at once?’’ this question floated out of the crowd, and the crowd grew silent, munching on the idea. They glanced at each other, hoping for a team to become the scapegoat.
The crowd of two hindered fell into an awkward silence. The leader of the scientific team observed the crowd and made no effort to call out anyone.
He could understand their fears; he, too, wouldn’t dare venture into the unknown alone. They weren’t entering with the raiders—their work was to send them back to the city.
Finally, some impatient people in the crowd couldn’t endure it anymore, and a group of ten teams touched their chosen pillars together.
Watching them disappear at once and the tower dimming, they sighed in relief and quickly followed after them.
Selina moved with her temporary team, taking deep, calm breaths. ’I must get an egg no matter the cost.’ Her eyes flashed with fierce determination as she pressed her hands on the cold tower surface and disappeared.
Meanwhile, in the mansion, Ethan and Julian woke up; they couldn’t muster any strength in their body, and their muscles felt like a puddle of water.
Ethan and Julian quickly grew cautious—their weakness was unnatural. Ethan tried to sit up but he was held back by a retrain.
Frowning with confusion, he tried to summon his powers, but couldn’t, so drained of energy that only icy mist came out.
’’Oh~ you’re awake.’’ They heard Eva’s familiar voice, but for some reason, they felt a hint of danger.
As they gazed into her frosty green eyes, they swallowed unconsciously, knowing instantly she was furious.
"Eva, baby... what’s wrong.’’ Julian asked nervously, following the movement of the dagger in her hands.
"Ha! You’re asking me what’s wrong?" Eva’s tone was ice cold. She still felt the sweat on her back from the nightmare she’d had.
She almost lost the function of her legs, she pressed her chest, wondering if her kidneys were safe. Feeling relieved of her healing powers, she turned to Ethan shooting him a glare.
"Wife...’’ Ethan’s lowered voice held guilt, clearing knowing the source of her anger.
