Chapter 62: Are you sure it’s from me?

Eva’s tears ceased when their lips parted but she was quiet for a second before asking tentatively.

’’Can you see my ghostly form? Ah! Will Ethan be affected by my Ying, no, yang energy.’’ She trailed off, lost in thought, ’what do those Chinese say about ghost energy affecting the living, hmm... why can’t I remember, is it shortened life and—

Julian couldn’t take it anymore and thrust meat into her mouth. Eva bit down, savouring the familiar flavour as her thoughts cleared.

’’Ghosts can’t eat food,’’ she said with a confident tone as her eyes brightened gradually at the thought.

"Why didn’t you tell me I’m not dead? You made me cry for nothing!" Eva’s words made Julian want to spank her, but he held back—there was a more pressing situation in the room.

’’Eva, face this way.’’ Ethan guided her face to the hovering raining cloud in their room.

’’Why is there a cloud in the room?’’ Eva jumped up and poked it tentatively.

They thought she just gave the foaming water shower a name. They had never seen a cloud before, only knowing the sun and moon though artificially created.

’’It appeared when you started crying. Is it your new powers?’’ Julian asked., though he was baffled. After the age of 10, When power crystals typically form in their heart, it was unheard of to develop a new ability at this age.

Eva pointed to herself with a surprised expression, staring at the drizzles leaving the white cloud.

’’Are you sure it’s from me? When did I have such cool power?’’ Eva’s tone was filled with disbelief as she walked across the wet floor to the bed. She was about to sit when Ethan held her in place.

She felt his intense gaze on her back, and was reminded of that tattoo, ’’What! Is something wrong with my back? Did the teardrops increase?’’ her voice trembled with fear. Ethan’s silence made her fear the worst.

Goosebumps broke out on her skin at the thought of something living inside her—remembering the excruciating pain she felt when she almost wanted to peel her tattoo off.

’’Your tattoos have changed and it is glowing with faint light.’’ Ethan broke the news when he felt her trembling body against his hands.

Eva stiffened at his words, ’’’ What do you mean by my tattoo has changed?’’ she asked as she tried glancing at her back, but the clothes were in her way.

She could only get a glimpse of blue from the collar and struggled out of Ethan’s hold in search of a mirror.

’’There’s a mirror in the bathroom,’’ Julian informed her when he noticed her darting gaze.

She rushed to the bathroom, unbuttoning the shirt. The sight of her tattoo’s beauty left her awestruck before dread set in.

’what in the bloody hell is going on?’ how could a tattoo change in the span of, wait, what day is it?’ with a hopeful heart, she walked back into the room.

"Are you guys pulling a prank on me? The tattoo is beautiful, how long did it take you to finish?’’ her voice trembled slightly at their serious gaze.

The cloud grew thicker, covering the room in half, as heavy rain fell. They turned to the cloud and looked at Eva’s panicking fearful expression, and the thought of it being her new powers grew firmer in their minds.

"Wife, it had only been an hour?" Ethan broke the news to her, and water length reached their ankle as Eva screamed.

"Aha! Get it out! Get it out! I... have something living inside me! (・~・) What if it eats me from the inside?" The more she spoke, the more her fear for her life grew.

The cloud cracked with thunder, engulfing the room completely as heavy rain poured on them.

Blinded by the rain, they tried to soothe her fears, but water filled their mouths as soon as they spoke, forcing them to swallow.

As soon as the water entered their body, a warm current wrapped around their stomachs, but it changed to a sharp, piercing pain.

They groaned, caught off guard by the burst of sharp pain spreading across their body.

Eva was snapped out of her thoughts by their pained groans. She looked over to see them sliding to the ground, the rainwater soaking their clothes.

She quickly dashed to them, her fear momentarily forgotten. "What’s wrong with both of you?" She asked as she wrapped them with a green light.

But instead of her powers healing them, it made their conditions worse. Eva noticed the black liquid oozing from their skin, carrying the rancid stench she remembered from her own pain.

Though disgust twisted her face and numbed her nose, she stayed and searched through her ring for healing potions.

She retrieved all the healing potions from her space ring and fed them to the two, but they had no effect. The rain poured heavily, blurring her vision.

She wiped her face and pulled them from the soaked ground, her irritation rising as water pooled around her and the relentless rain pounded on her back.

"Stop falling like a weeping ghost! Do you want to blind me!" Eva’s frustrated shout echoed, halting the rain, though the cloud lingered.

Eva’s focus returned to Ethan and Julian. The black liquid soaked their clothes, dripping from their edges and staining the couch.

She was thankful she didn’t move them to the bed, or it would be ruined. If they were like her, once the black substance was removed, they would wake up after a while. She could only hope her guess was correct.

Both her healing powers and potions were useless. Eva stayed by their side, tears mixed with water streaming from her eyes as the rancid smell filled the air.

She opened the window to lessen the smell, but there was no hope. ( ꈨຶ ˙̫̮ ꈨຶ ) She felt she would lose her sense of smell after this was over. Her eyes couldn’t stop watering.

She sighed, staring at the waterlogged floor, wondering how they would dry the room.

After agonizing minutes passed, the black liquid stopped coming out. Ethan and Julian were pale, but their eyes fluttered, showing signs of waking.
