Chapter 56: I-I can’t breathe

Stone went to the higher tops with the two space power users as witnesses. He told the administrator in charge of the scientist guild everything that happened. The stern-faced man calmly listened at first and quickly stood up.

’’Do you have proof of what you’ve told me?’’ The man asked, his voice trembling with emotion.

’’My nephews have the eggs, and these are the rare plants they brought with them,’’ Stone said, taking out plants from his space bag. The man’s hands trembled with excitement as he saw the plants.

’’I need to see the eggs before I pass this news to the others,’’ the man insisted. At his words, Stone stood up. ’’Alright, I’ll lead the way.’’

They quickly left the scientist’s guild, heading toward their home. The stern-faced man believed Stone’s words but needed proof to show the other administrators.

This is a huge discovery for mankind; they could finally return to the surface. But remembering the poisoned air, his excitement dimmed slightly.

He waved It off, thinking if such beasts existed, it wouldn’t be long before they found a solution to the poison.

Feeling optimistic again, he waited anxiously for them to reach the mansion.

Meanwhile, Ethan and Julian fought shirtless, using only their hands, while Eva cheered with a drumstick in her hand.

’’Go! Ethan! You can do it, Julian!’’ At her loud cheer, both men were distracted, and their fight lost its intensity, feeling like a brawl for her entertainment.

Ethan, who wanted to leave Julian half-dead, couldn’t muster his fury. ’’We should stop. We’ll fight later when she’s not here.’’

Julian quickly nodded in agreement, distracted by her intense gaze on his body and her abrupt cheers. The thought of getting a marriage certificate also weighed on their minds.

They stopped, turning toward unsuspecting Eva. ’’After all my cheering, no one won? Why did you stop fighting? It was getting interesting,’’ her tone disappointed.

But she quickly shifted to their bare chests, moving closer to her. Her eyes counted the lines mentally.

’’Eight (*´﹃`*) mm...their mermaid lines...’’ she muttered in a daze. She saw their mouths moving, but she heard nothing, only nodding dumbly.

What they said: ’’Would you marry us? Be ours forever?’’ Ethan asked softly, his blue eyes staring into hers. She nodded, but Ethan’s eyes flashed with joy even though she was still dazed. She could never take back her words.

Julian moved closer to her, taking her hands and tracing the line of his abs slowly. ’’Nod if you agree to get a marriage certificate today,’’ his tone a tempting whisper and the mushed-brained Eva nodded.

An elated smile spread across their lips. Without delay, Ethan carried her out of the training room, with Julian getting the keys to the bus. At that moment, Eva snapped out of her daze and noticed something was very wrong.

Their earlier words became clear. ’’Wait! You can’t do this! I didn’t agree to anything!’’ She tried to struggle out of Ethan’s hold, but his grip was tight around her.

’’You agreed, there’s no use struggling.’’ Ethan patted her back gently while entering the car. Julian quickly started the car and drove off.

Eva watched the speeding car and lay in Ethan’s embrace with a lost expression. ’Did I just sell myself that easily? Unbelievable. Their drool-worthy bodies distracted me for a second, and now I’m married. How did this happen (☉。☉)!’ ’ Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt her chin raised.

She met Ethan’s blue eyes. ’’I promise not to hurt you but care for and love you. But you’re not allowed to leave me.’’

’’And me!’’ Julian called out from the driver’s seat.

Eva felt the sincerity in Ethan’s eyes, and her heart eased, though she was still vexed at how easily she agreed to the marriage certificate.

Since she got here, her life has spiralled out of control. She was starting to like them, and now they were getting a marriage certificate. ’Who does that?’

’’Alright, but we are still going on dates even though we’re married, and no children—’’ her eyes widened as she grabbed Ethan by his collar, her hands trembling.

’’Did both of you use protection?’’ her voice was a low whisper. She’d forgotten all about it. ’Ahh! Do I have a bun in the oven already? I’m still young, I can’t even care for myself properly to raise a child!’

Seeing Ethan shake his head, Eva’s vision grew faint. ’’I-I can’t breathe.’’ Ethan heard her whisper and smiled helplessly. Pinching her cheeks, ’’Don’t worry, you can’t have a child so easily.’’ Seeing her disbelieving, pitying gaze moving towards his lower body, Ethan felt a tick on his forehead. He could only explain basic knowledge to her.

’’It is rare to conceive a child due to the human system being deprived of necessary vitamins. Children are so weak they die if not properly cared for. Protected sex is banned because of the low birth rate and high death rate,’’ Seeing her surprised gaze, he was puzzled. ’Wasn’t she supposed to know this?’ At his words, Eva suddenly noticed that she hadn’t seen any children lately. ’No wonder.’

’’So, you’re saying It’s hard to have a child on our first try?’’ Eva asked tentatively, receiving his nod. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, missing Ethan’s hopeful gaze at her stomach.

Julian felt lonely in the driver’s seat, so he increased his speed, passing through different turns, and missed Stone’s car heading toward their house.

After an hour’s drive, their car stopped in front of a cave-made building. Julian and Ethan pulled out spare shirts under Eva’s snort. They pulled it on and held her tightly like she was going to escape. Eva didn’t have the strength to argue with them as they entered inside.

Eva’s gaze took in the wide room with a line of couples. Some were nervous but could barely hide their joyful smiles, while others had forced ones.

But she doesn’t know what she should be feeling. Was it joy or a forced smile? ’Nope, I’m lost. How did I go from being single to married in one day?’

The process didn’t waste time. Eva pressed her thumbprint on the freshly made certificate with a dazed expression. She looked at Mrs Foster and Warren and pinched them to see if it wasn’t a dream.

’’Ow... Eva, don’t murder your husband on the first day of our married life.’’ Julian’s tone was filled with satisfaction and happiness. He rubbed her head and dodged away before she could land a hit. Even Ethan had a rare smile on his face as they left the building.

Unaware that they had anxious guests at home.
