Chapter 54: Chapter 54- Chef San, where are you?!

Her hands were clenched into fists on her legs. She was very nervous, but her gaze held determination and ambition to succeed even if she used the ring as a bargaining chip.

She has no money, no teammates, and in a foreign city. She stared out the window and the dark city in a trance, reminiscing about her past.

Eva and the others stood in front of their eggs—Eva followed their lead, tore open their palm, and pressed a few drops of blood on the egg.

The egg trembled slightly, the colour turning brighter, and ancient symbols appeared on it, circling in slow motion before stopping. Then a flash of light left the egg and entered into their bodies.

A warm feeling washed against them, they could feel a heartbeat coming from the egg, feeling a closer connection with the beast inside. Eva let out a sigh, still disappointed that she couldn’t eat the egg.

Eva walked forward and patted the egg. ’’Grow up faster, and hunt for me as repayment for not eating you.’’ Her tone was soft, but the threat was evident.

The egg trembled slightly, as if in response. Ethan didn’t feel anything wrong with her words only Julian felt pity for the poor beast for having such an owner.

Eva brought out a drumstick from her space and chewed fiercely as if to vent her frustration; feeling their gaze on her, she brought out a plate and pushed in their direction.

’’I hope you didn’t fill your space with only meat. You need vegetables as well.’’ Ethan asked as he took the plate from her hands.

Eva nearly choked at his words. ’’Whattt... I packed some veggies, who told you that.’’ Eva sputtered, trying to keep a straight face as she recalled the mountain of cooked meat in her space. ’Did the chef snitch on her? Base food like rice and noodles were fine, but why did she have to eat those bland, strange-tasting greens?’

Seeing their raised brows, ’’Hehe... ah! I forgot something...’’ Eva laughed awkwardly and fled the room, her next destination was the kitchen. She needed to threaten or bribe the chef.

Julian picked up a drumstick and stared at her fleeing back. ’’She’s lying.’’

Ethan hummed, he kept in mind to tell the chef to add vegetables into her meals, starting from now. They turned back to the eggs and didn’t know when they would hatch.

The chef saw Eva heading in his direction and quickly hid. His hands were numb from frying meat since morning, he wondered where she got so much fresh meat.

Eva’s brows furrowed; she was sure, she saw the chef just now; where did he suddenly disappear to?

’’Chef San, where are you?!’’ hearing her calling for him, he tensed, holding his breath—when she passed his hiding place, he released the breath he was holding. ’’Found you.’’ Eva’s voice suddenly sounded from his side.

’’Ahh!’’ the man held his chest slumping against the wall, Eva squatted, waiting for him to catch his breath. ’’Miss E-Eva you here.’’ The man stammered, his expression worse than crying. He loved cooking, but her demands were excessive; he just wanted to take a break in peace.

’’Why were you running? You aren’t running from me right?’’ Eva’s gaze narrowed, and saw a flash of guilt on his face. ’snitch!’

’’Did you tell Ethan you fried two buckets of meat for me?’’ the man glanced up at her question and met her darkened expression. ’’Miss Eva, I said nothing to Master Ethan; I haven’t seen him today.’’ His tone held sincerity. ’hmm... he’s not lying, my guess is wrong. Could it be the butler?’

’’Did the butler see you cooking my meat?’’ the man held a thoughtful expression, remembering the butler had asked whose meal he was preparing. He nodded and watched her expression change drastically and thought something serious had happened, he wanted to ask only for her to turn and leave.

’How am I going to bribe the butler? What will I even bribe him with? Haa...tough opponent. What to do, yes! I can pretend to eat my veggies while sending them into my space. Brilliant, nice idea!’ Eva hummed happily, about to enter her space, when a knock came from the gate.

She changed her mind curious to know who came. Julian and Ethan walked out from their study, thinking it was Uncle Stone bringing news or someone sent to take the bus back. But Blaine brought in an unknown woman instead. Julian didn’t recognize her as the crazy woman from the dungeon.

Eva, who walked into the living room, came to a sudden halt and crept backwards when she recognized the woman. But how could things work so easily,

Selina caught Eva’s figure and a plan flashed in her mind. ’’Eva, it’s really you, I thought you died, I’m so happy to see you.’’ Selina’s tone was full of joy as if seeing a long-lost family member, but Eva frowned and dodged her hands as if she were contagious.

’Oh my God it’s the female lead. She didn’t touch me right, woo hoo, will I start getting unlucky.’ Eva’s face was filled with panic, which Ethan noticed. He glanced at Selina intently.

’’Umm...who are you.’’ Eva held her head exaggeratedly; her acting was so poor that Julian struggled to keep a straight face. ’’I lost my memories, I can’t remember who you are.’’

’’Don’t say that; you’re my friend. I can’t leave you with unknown people.’’ Selina countered her words, her delicate face filled with so much concern, that Eva nearly believed her words. But seeing Selina’s hand almost touching her, her body moved away instinctively under Selina’s hurt gaze.

Julian and Ethan watched the show playing out in front of them, assessing the woman’s expression covertly. Selina frowned at the Lords’ indifferent attitude, but a smile quickly replaced it, but they caught it.

’’Don’t worry about me. I’ll keep your friendship in my heart. Go before my bosses get angry and fire me.’’ Eva winked at them to back her up; she wasn’t ready to have bubbling sisterhood with the female lead; she’s not a masochist.

Ethan’s brows raised at her words, but he said nothing to refute it. Julian’s expression changed to one of sternness, embracing his role fully.

’’Miss, please leave unless you want your friend to lose the job. She works by the hour, after all. Kindly see yourself out.’’ Eva’s eyes held sparkles at Julian’s acting and nearly clapped, but remembering the situation, she put on what she thought was a fearful expression.

’’Sir, please, I can’t leave my friend alone. Could you hire me, so I can take care of her? She’s the only family I have.’’ Selina begged, a tear sliding pitifully down her cheeks.

Eva blinked at Julian, her eyes nearly twitching. ’(ノ°Д°)ノ, someone save me from this sticky person. Author San, (ᗒᗩᗕ), please use another passerby to move your plot; I promise to share screentime with your female lead; she’s the star.’ Eva was seriously panicking, she paid attention to the faceslapping part of the story and witnessed characters die unlucky deaths after outshining the female lead.

"We are not hiring. Blaine see the guest out." Ethan ordered and Blaine quickly escorted Selina, ignoring her reluctance.

She didn’t struggle; she wanted to leave a good impression.

As soon as Selina left, Eva leaped onto Ethan showering his face with kisses. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
