Chapter 20: Chapter 20- Delusional

Ethan and Julian’s cold eyes softened a bit when they saw Eva’s exaggerated expression. But when they heard the waitress moan from pain they frowned.

They noticed her slight movements but dismissed them- until she stumbled, deliberately tilting the hot sauce toward Eva’s face as if by accident.

They had almost attacked her, but Eva was faster. The two other customers in the room didn’t notice anything. They wanted to help the waitress, but meeting Ethan and Lucas’s cold gaze and recognizing them, they sat back in their seats.

"Who’s causing trouble in my restaurant?!" A booming sound came from the kitchen area before a tall, muscular middle-aged woman appeared.

Eva looked up for a split second before going back to her meal, her mouth covered in oil sheen as she tore at the red meat. The meat on the tray steadily disappeared.

The huge muscular woman’s gaze settled on the waitress, puzzled at how she could have such a fatal accident after working here for two years.

"Madam Amelia, my shoulders hurt so much," the waitress sobbed, tears streaming down her face. She lay frozen on the hard floor, every slight movement bringing sharp, piercing pain.

Amelia frowned and walked towards her to help her up, "Don’t help her." Ethan said in a cold tone, causing the woman to freeze and look at him in shock.

The waitress’s pained moans brought her back.

"She’s hurt, why are you stopping me." Amelia couldn’t help but ask, her tone almost raised.

"When she wanted to throw hot sauce on our teammate, she didn’t think it would burn Eva’s face, did she?" Julian asked in a cold flat tone, staring at the woman on the ground like she was a dead person.

Eva froze at Julian’s words. Her hands flew to her face, tracing its smoothness. She patted her chest in relief- then anger surged.

In an instant, Eva’s leg struck the woman’s knee with brutal force.

"Crack!" The sound echoed through the room, leaving everyone stunned.

"Argh!" A blood-curdling scream left the woman’s lips as her mind registered the pain.

Her tears and snot dripped to the ground making Eva frown with disgust. She sat back in her seat and continued eating like her earlier actions were a figment of their imagination.

Julian and Ethan didn’t expect this; her actions were so swift and ruthless. They stared at her innocent-looking face and shook their head internally; looks can be very deceiving.

Amelia reacted and her face flushed with anger. How dare she attack one of her people in front of her. "Your actions were unnecessary. She had already dislocated a bone." Amelia scolded only to see Eva fully focused on her meat.

Amelia didn’t know because of the meat that the waitress was able to keep her life. Eva had three sacred rules: protect her beauty, preserve cleanliness, and never, ever mess with her meat.

The waitress had broken two of these, so it was a small miracle she was still breathing.

"I’m reporting you to the Veil Order!" Amelia snapped, anger rushing through her brain at Eva’s disregard.

She helped the waitress up but was frozen in place; only her eyes could move as time numbers wrapped around her body, pausing her in place.

"Did both of you see my teammate attack her?" Ethan’s cold question froze the other two customers in their chairs in fear.

They shook their head, feeling it was not convincing enough, "I-I didn’t see anything." They answered in unison, lying through their teeth.

Amelia’s eyes widened in shock, her hot brain cooled and she was able to think with a clear mind. ’What have I done, they could easily close down my restaurant with a word.’ the woman panicked as she realized that she was in deep trouble.

"Go ahead and call them.’’ Julian’s dry tone was laced with disdain. I’m sure they’ll believe your one-sided report and arrest our companion. Delusional." Julian sneered, his sharp gaze locking on her, as fear filled her eyes.

"Mm, what’s a Veil Order?" Eva asked, leaning comfortably against the wall, her hands on her stomach as few pieces of meat remained for them.

But her eyes were still seduced by the remaining meat, so she joined in the conversation to suppress the temptation.

Everyone glanced at her weirdly; how could she not know such a basic thing? Even a child knows who they are.

Ethan was surprised and curious when he saw her genuinely clueless gaze and couldn’t help but whisper the explanation to her.

"They keep the order around here or anyone could kill and steal without care."

Eva immediately understood it was the same as a police in her former world. She nodded her head showing she understood.

Julian grew bored of the woman’s fearful eyes, "Eva what should we do to them?" He asked placing the initiative in Eva’s hands.

Eva turned to the two women and faced Julian with an eager expression, "Anything?" she asked with shimmering eyes.

"Unless you don’t kill them in broad daylight, anything goes." Julian couldn’t help but add when he saw her eager expression.

Eva covered her lips as she giggled weirdly causing them to wonder what was going through that mind of hers.

She cleared her throat, "I’m a good person, Just send meat to me for two months. Every juicy, delicious one." Eva swallowed at the end, as she fought to keep an expressionless face.

Julian facepalmed and moved slightly away from her; he didn’t know this person. ’Of all things, she chose this; it seems she loves meat more.’ Ethan thought as he smiled helplessly at her drooling expression.

They thought the punishment was too good for the two women, but Amelia shed tears of pain at her two-month loss. It was costly and hard to get fresh monster meat from the dungeon raiders. Now, it would be given for free for two whole months.

Amelia glared at the waitress, her heart boiling with hate. She vowed to fire this walking bad luck.

Now her interest was being touched she forgot her actions of saving the waitress in the beginning.

"Bring me mad bunny, Beefalo, Tenderloin, slime frogs." Eva listed the meat she could remember.

The woman was released from her hold and looked at Eva like she was a monster. But at Julian’s pointed stare, she could only resign to her fate. Her heart filled with regret; if only she didn’t try to help her staff, none of this would have happened.
