Chapter 19: Chapter 19- My money for meat is gone
With trembling hands, Eva brought out her money pouch. The salesperson sighed impatiently at her slow actions. Unaware of her heartache.
She counted the coins slowly, her fingers shaking as she placed them into his hand. When he tried to pull them away, she gripped them tightly, unwilling to let go.
"Hmph!" he scoffed, yanking the coins from her grasp.
Julian and Ethan exchanged glances and said nothing, giving her space to mourn her loss.
Eva averted her eyes, unable to watch her precious coins disappear into the man’s drawer. ’Woo hoo༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽’ she cried inwardly. ’My money for meat is gone.’
Her gaze was filled with sadness and loss as they went downstairs. Eva walked in a daze, passing by Selina, who was frozen in terror and shock when she saw Eva alive.
"It’s not that bad, you can still-’" Julian’s following words were stuck in his throat by her vacant stare on him.
Ethan noticed wisps of green light forming in Eva’s hands. He pulled Julian back a bit, signalling for him to keep quiet.
He then turned to Eva, "What do you want to eat?" His abrupt question broke Eva of her murderous thought.
"Meat." She answered without a second thought, "Alright, I know a good place. I’m paying.’’ Ethan added when he saw her gripped fingers on her pouch.
Julian blinked as he watched a smile bloom on Eva’s face, the gloom disappearing instantly.
"Leader!" Her green eyes glowed with happiness, his image filled her eyes like he had saved her life.
"You can change face so fast huh?" Julian said, ruffling her hair with force, shattering her hair over her face.
Before she could react he had walked further away from her reach. But Eva wasn’t angry, she patiently arranged her hair in order and followed Ethan with a skip in her steps.
Feeling a piercing gaze, she turned back but saw nothing. Selina had ducked behind a booth just in time.
’She was supposed to be dead. Why the hell is she alive and familiar with those men? Why didn’t she stay dead as in my past life? No, she can’t know about the ring.’ Selina bit her lower lip as her mind raced with thoughts.
Her hand clenched tightly on the ring, "what should I do? Why is everything not going as planned." She muttered to herself; then she felt the salesperson’s weird stare at her.
She smiled forcefully and got up, seeing no signs of Eva, she hurried out of the building. She wants to follow Eva and find out about her relationship between these two lords.
But when she got out, she couldn’t find their figures, ’’Damn it!’’ she cursed.
Meanwhile, Eva hummed as the car drove them to the restaurant. Seeing her so happy, Julian and Ethan mentally noted her love for meat.
The car parked beside a quaint restaurant. The door dinged open, informing the owner that the customer was there.
The waitress’s eyes lit up when she saw the familiar figures. She checked the glass, arranging her hair and clothes before she walked to their table.
Eva looked around the almost empty restaurant; the windows draped in light fur, their table made from stone with soft fur underneath.
She now realized the two places she had been to, the decor was made of stone. It seems wood is costly and rare.
"Good afternoon Lord Ethan, Lord Julian. Is it the usual as well." The waitress’s familiar tone brought her out of her musing. She looked at the brown-haired, tall, endowed woman and sighed with envy at her height.
Her mind was quickly attracted by Julian’s answer. "No. What meat dishes are on the menu today."
"There’s Mad bunny meat, Beefalo, Tenderloin, Red chicken and slime frogs..." As she listened, Eva’s expression became expressionless, her eyes watching the woman’s mouth move as the waitress sprouted out off-putting names.
"Alright get the mad bunny, slime frogs and red chicken for the three of us." Ethan listed out three meat dishes.
The woman’s smile froze, and she finally noticed Eva’s presence. ’Who is this woman sitting with them?’ she thought, but her smile grew brighter.
"Coming right up." Her sticky, sweet tone made Eva shiver, goosebumps appearing on her arms.
Eva rubbed her hands and shook away the feeling before leaning closer to Julian. "Are those meat edible?" She asked in a whisper.
"You’ll know soon enough," Julian said with a teasing smile on his lips when he saw her impatient gaze.
Not getting the answer she wanted, she settled back in her seat and played with her fingers while waiting for the food to be served.
After five minutes passed, the woman walked out with a tray in hand. Eva’s eyes were instantly glued on the glistening red meat. Particles of golden light were shattered on the meat, giving it a holy glow.
Eva swallowed the drool in her mouth, and the smell of fried meat wafted into her nose as the woman placed the large tray on the table.
Ethan noticed her hopeless expression and couldn’t help but move a piece towards her, "Here, eat."
The waitress noticed his actions and frowned; her crush serving another woman in front of her made her jealous.
Her eyes flashed, ’’Do you need anything else?’’ she asked her body moving suspiciously to Eva. Her target was on the hot dipping sauce, "Ah!" She stepped on air, her hands going for the sauce but before her plans could work.
She saw a blur of movement; Eva’s hands flashed quickly, dragging the food away from the area of her face, making her fall head-first onto the ground.
"Bang!"
Eva sighed with relief at her saved food before her mind registered that someone had fallen.
"Argh!" The waitress cried for real this time. She was unlucky and didn’t fall in the soft fur but on the hard ground, her shoulders dislocated, sending sharp hot pain through her.
Eva winced when she saw the woman’s shoulders falling awkwardly. She was about to heal her but was stopped by Julian and Ethan.
She looked at them with a puzzled expression but met their cold gaze on the woman. Eva felt something happened that she wasn’t aware of; her mind was on the meat and not on her surroundings.
Seeing they didn’t allow her to heal the woman she felt they had their reason and retracted her hands.
Sitting down, she picked up the meat, Ethan had pushed towards her. As soon it entered her mouth, her tongue exploded, and she held her cheeks together, her expression intoxicated.
’Soft, chewy, delicious!!!!’ these words filled her mind.
