Chapter 928: Chapter 925: Uninvited Guest
Ziyan’s master really speaks quite frankly; in the Yun Family, probably no one dares to speak to Mr. Yun like this. But Lin Tian listened, wondering if these two had a fling when they were young.
Mr. Yun wasn’t angry and turned to various well-known doctors, saying, "Elder Jiang’s suggestion, what does everyone think?"
The old man looked around and paused at Lin Tian, a smile flickering in his eyes.
Mr. Yun was very satisfied with Lin Tian’s low profile. First, it indicated Lin Tian’s stability and practicality, not seeking empty fame. Secondly, before confirming if Lin Tian was the Yun Family’s eldest son, Mr. Yun didn’t want to attract too much attention.
"Elder Jiang’s suggestion is naturally excellent. I have no objections." Du Zhong laughed and behaved quite properly in front of Jiang Xiu Ying, showing none of his previous rudeness.
Liao Ping refused to be left behind and said, "I also agree. Treating and saving people is naturally the duty of us physicians." Other doctors nodded in agreement.
Under Jiang Xiu Ying’s suggestion, a diagnosis was about to begin, but a servant suddenly hurried in from outside the hall. Even Mr. Yun seemed a bit puzzled.
The servant ran to Mr. Yun’s side and whispered a few words, upon which Mr. Yun frowned.
"Yun Hongxi, what’s going on?" Jiang Xiu Ying asked curiously.
"Elder Jiang, I’m afraid we’ll need to wait a moment. There’s a guest outside." Mr. Yun replied.
"From what you said, this guest came uninvited?" Jiang Xiu Ying asked again, and Mr. Yun nodded but didn’t disclose who the uninvited guest was, arousing curiosity among other physicians.
Mr. Yun remained seated at the main seat without going out to welcome the guest, and Lin Tian understood that the arriving person likely was unwelcome.
Soon enough, two people walked in from outside the hall. Upon seeing the leader, Lin Tian realized why the person was unwelcome because it was Third Young Master Li, Li Wenrong from the Li Family.
The Yun Family and Li Family are the biggest rivals, which is a well-known fact. Though they maintain politeness on the surface, the competition is intense beneath it.
Especially since the Yun Family suffered a downfall twenty years ago, the Li Family seized the opportunity to suppress the Yun Family, causing them to still lag behind the Li Family.
Although business competition lacks right and wrong, the Yun Family indeed suffered, so how could they have a favorable impression of the Li Family? Plus, there’s still uncertainty about whether the Li Family used unsavory methods back then.
Lin Tian had met Third Young Master Li a few times and had a poor impression of Li Wenrong, who actually intended to pursue the Miss.
Frankly, Li Wenrong was the troublemaker unleashed by the Li Family to stir up chaos. Otherwise, why would the Li Family turn a blind eye to his courting of the Miss? They are first cousins, after all.
Thus, with Li Wenrong suddenly appearing at the Yun Family, Lin Tian didn’t need to exert his brain cells to know nothing good could come of it, even if it seemed good, it was the fox paying homage to the chicken, with hidden motives likely related to Mr. Yun’s illness today.
Li Wenrong walked towards Mr. Yun with his head held high, then performed a respectful gesture for a junior, politely saying, "Mr. Yun, I’m here uninvited, please don’t take offense. I heard that today Mr. Yun invited renowned doctors for treatment, so I came out of concern, and brought with me the Hundred-Year-Old Ginseng, hoping it may aid in today’s treatment."
With that said, Li Wenrong gestured to his attendant, who hurried forward and opened the wooden box he carried. Sure enough, inside was a ginseng, its shape vaguely resembling a human form, probably much older than a hundred years.
Indeed, Li Wenrong turned around and pointed at the ginseng saying, "Mr. Yun, this ginseng is five hundred years old. According to the seller, it can prolong life and restore the dead, a small token of my care. Please accept it."
Five hundred years! The doctors present were moved. As practitioners, they certainly understood what the age of ginseng signified. Nowadays, even a hundred-year ginseng is rarely seen on the market.
In pharmacies, the ginseng is entirely artificially cultivated, sprawling like cabbage fields, quickly grown and all fast-growing ginseng. Nowadays, finding a wild ginseng is extremely difficult, due to severe environmental destruction and rampant harvesting without restraint, it’s almost extinct.
Thus, everyone was deeply tempted by this five-hundred-year ginseng, each wanting to crane their necks for a closer look, yet hesitating due to social etiquette to be too obvious.
Li Wenrong was very pleased with the doctors’ reactions, knowing these renowned physicians are usually very discerning, so without something truly precious, they wouldn’t be impressed at all.
He glanced around the hall, enjoying the envious looks cast by everyone, a slight smile of triumph appearing on his face. Upon seeing Zi Yan on the left, his eyes flashed with amazement. He had played with countless women, yet never met someone as alluring as her.
That figure, those brows and eyes, seemed capable of stirring up any man’s desires. Since meeting her once at the last opening ceremony, Li Wenrong couldn’t get her out of his mind.
However, Zi Yan didn’t even glance at him, nor at his ginseng. Her gaze was rather subtly directed toward another corner. Li Wenrong was unwilling to concede; what could be more enticing than a five-hundred-year-old ginseng? He followed Zi Yan’s gaze.
When he looked at Lin Tian in the corner, the triumphant smile on his face instantly froze.
Lin Tian, how could he be at the Yun Family!
He never imagined encountering Lin Tian at the Yun Family. Li Wenrong held a grudge against Lin Tian, who not only humiliated him publicly but also ruined his plan to pursue Xiao Manxue. Third Young Master Li dreamed of whipping Lin Tian for revenge.
Moreover, the woman he fancied was focusing on Lin Tian. Even more frustrating, Lin Tian kept shaking his head at his ginseng, seemingly indifferent.
The ginseng took considerable effort to obtain, not something money can easily buy. Yet Lin Tian dismissed it with contempt; how could he not be angry?
Li Wenrong glanced at the everyone around, his thoughts stirring, then smiled and said to Mr. Yun, "Mr. Yun, that gentleman over there seems to have a different opinion on this Hundred-Year-Old Ginseng?" His intention was to focus everyone’s attention on Lin Tian to embarrass him.
Doctors followed Li Wenrong’s gaze to the young physician they favored. Sure enough, from his expression, the young physician didn’t care much for the Hundred-Year-Old Ginseng.
Yun Haoyu noticed Lin Tian’s unusual demeanour and laughed loudly, "Mr. Lin, you are a young and accomplished doctor. Could it be you notice something wrong with the ginseng?"
Actually, the Yun Family didn’t want to accept such a significant gift from the Li Family, recognizing that a gift received would have to be repaid eventually. However, it was unseemly to refuse so bluntly in front of so many people.
Therefore, when Yun Haoyu observed Lin Tian’s expression, he deliberately posed the question.
