Chapter 30: Relay Rules
Chapter 30: Relay Rules
You see, St. Andrews International isn’t your run-of-the-mill school. Prestigious families fight over the slots to be able to send their children here.
So I was surprised that they thought of Lily as an impersonator. Though it wasn’t that the school had no scholars, it was just that most scholars couldn’t last long enough to graduate due to social pressure, with most preferring to drop out instead.
And this was still the kindergarten, just imagine high school.
What this meant was that parents took such gathering events seriously. Like some business mixer, with their children as their ticket.
The competitions were also picked based on social class. There’s horseback riding, golf, archery, and a few other unconventional competitions for a kindergarten Family Day.
Just by that alone, it’s obvious that most children would only participate in the standard relay and three-legged race which they schedule towards the end.
None of this should be a concern, since this has long been a tradition.
But Lily probably had no idea.
Meaning she had no idea that the sign-ups were fought over and decided on by her classmates months before today’s event.
She surely missed the sign-ups because she transferred late.
The sign-ups are a big deal because these high-profile parents or relatives refuse to make fun of themselves. Most of these people came prepared for whatever they told their kids to sign up for.
I approached the board to check on where they assigned Lily, or in this case, me.
Just as I expected, these little brats forced Lily into a corner.
Archery, Three-legged race, and the Relay race.
Wow. Meanies.
She was listed under seemingly harmless competitions. But these kids had long known that she would come alone
.Not that archery would be difficult for children her age, but the competitors would be adults if no other child volunteers to play on their family’s behalf.
Then there’s the three-legged race that obviously required another leg other than hers. So she would’ve immediately lost by a technical for not having another person she could run with. Same with the relay race that required another person.
If that doesn’t scream sabotage then I don’t know anymore.
Clearly, the others took the easier ones that solo children could participate in such as golf, the musical competition, or even the trivia tournament.
So when they preempted blaming her earlier, it was because they were confident she’d lose for being unable to participate.
Lily also read the chart and seemed surprised that such a thing existed.
Lucian probably didn’t think to inform her of anything because Lucian had always fought his own competitions whether or not he was competing against adults.
Lucian just had no fucks to give.
He’s been like that even before being possessed. At first, he enjoyed the idea of measuring up against adults, but then as his parents became busier, it became out of necessity.
Seeing her name under archery, Lily looked bothered then determined.
I wonder what goes on in her head for her facial expressions to keep on changing like that.
"Big Sis, I just started with Introduction to Archery, my parents haven’t found me a tutor after going home," she said worriedly.
I chuckled while trying to calm her down, "Silly girl."
"I’ll compete for you of course."
"Are you sure?"
When she’s like this Lily somehow looks like a hamster and it takes a lot of willpower not to laugh at the child’s sincerity.
"Just watch me."

LILY
*Phwwwwwhht*, *Phwwwwwhht*
Lily sat in the audience, dazed at what she just witnessed.
Just how was it possible for Big Sister to be this good?
It wasn’t only the child that looked bewildered at the results of the Indoor Recurve round.
At first, Lily cheered hard in her heart when Eliana hit her first inner 10 ring. But when she kept on continuing to finish all her ends with the maximum score, Lily realized that her new Big Sister wasn’t just playing around.
Eyes shining as she watched Eliana retrieve her arrows, Lily seemed to see a different person in her.
In the past few days, she thought that Big Sis liked food, studying, Chester, and more food. So she thought that she was rather happy-go-lucky.
But what is this?
Is this why Big Brother married her?
When the Target Captain finally tallied the last results, Lily almost leaped from her seat in excitement but remembered that Archery was dangerous so she needed to wait until her Big Sis returned.
"You won!"
"We won." Said her Big Sister while flicking her forehead.
"See, I told you to just watch me."
Lily was carried around again, as they left the venue the people started whispering more.
They must be talking about Big Sis.
Lily was even more overjoyed when the instructor approached Eliana to ask if she had been a professional athlete, which she declined with a polite laugh.
Her pride kept on soaring as they continued demolishing their competition in the three-legged race.
She had been worried about slowing Eliana down, but instead of getting a consolation or the typical adult assurance, her Big Sis made her practice brisk walking by following a rhythm.
So when the shouting pistol was fired, two girls started brisk walking like they came out of the military. Even with uneven heights, they managed to follow the rhythm that they set for themselves.
Lily had never experienced joining competitive games like this with an adult.
By the time she was born, her brother was already old enough to leave the house. Her parents were extremely busy as the successors of the clan. And by this time, Grandpa was too old to play physically intensive games.
Finishing first had her flushing everywhere. Maybe this was why her classmates were so hellbent on winning because it felt really, really great.
So this is why Big Brother liked winning.
Coming down from the high of winning their second competition, the two girls feasted on a round of fruit shakes and snacks.
What a good day~
Lily had actually noticed a change in her classmates.
After they logged in a win for Archery, several parents came over to chat with her Big Sis. Some of her classmates even tried giving her some snacks.
Eliana actually wanted Lily to try and communicate with the other children who tried to come over, but Lily had become guarded after realizing that most of her classmates were mean kids.
Especially that girl, Trinity.
As they rested before the final competition, Lily was surprised to hear Eliana’s sarcastic tone.
Hmm?
It was then that she saw a plump woman who had a very odd hairstyle, speaking to her Big Sister.
Who is she?
"I didn’t think we’d see you here of all places."
Big Sis just smiled politely but only responded with a curt, "Did you need anything?"
Fanning her face, the woman said, "No, I just felt like telling you the relay rules in advance. So you don’t waste your time."
"Relay rules?"
The woman’s voice was suddenly much louder, "You need at least three people in your family to participate. It’s a shame there’s only two of you."
Oh no!
No wonder she smelled evil!
