Yours, Until Needed
Chapter 151: Candid

Chapter 151: Candid

It was a battle of wits to convince Lucian that attending the Grand Opening of our new resort would be a good idea.

We’ve been pretty excited about this and were finally going to see the fruits of our labor.

That was supposed to be tomorrow.

Today would be our third day here, celebrating with family and friends as well as our employees.

We were hoping to let everyone enjoy today so that they can remember to provide the same experience to our clients.

And that wasn’t the exciting part. Although our location was ways away from our city, we still managed to get a full showing. The resort ended up being booked solid for months.

This was likely due to a happy accident when we first got here.

Although we actually hired influencers and models for the initial launch of our advertising campaign, Sid was still adamant about holding on to more material in case they were needed.

And his only available material? All of us.

My husband wasn’t used to having that many people around for vacations. Because, admittedly, he probably barely took any.

Even when he was supposed to be relaxing, this big baby was very much concerned about the oddest things, like the sun.

The morning sun actually felt refreshing, and the soft crash of the waves against the shore provided a soothing soundtrack as Lucian adjusted the umbrella over their private cabana for the fourth time in ten minutes.

His ordinarily stoic face was now squinted as he looked toward the direction of the sun.

"Lucian, it’s fine. Morning sun is great." I told him while biting back a laugh as I lounged on the cushioned beach bed.

My hand was on my barely-there baby bump as I soothed my stubborn husband into stopping his madness. "That’s some good vitamins right there and wouldn’t kill me."

Lucian straightened as he brushed off the sand on his hands with precision. "You’re pregnant. We’re not sure if the baby likes UV rays."

I chuckled at what was clearly a crude excuse for his obsessive behavior.

"Pretty sure the doctor would agree to a good amount of sunlight. But what’s not fine is how you’re too far away, and maybe this shake is something that I think the baby doesn’t like too much." I winced at the fruit shake that would typically interest me but was now a bit repulsive to her.

Lucian hurried over at the mention of something off.

"I’ll order something else. What do you want? Or do you want me to just get them all so you can just pick?"

"What? No! That’s too wasteful. This is our resort. We can’t do that!" I tapped him on the shoulder, and he just rolled his eyes at me.

"Isn’t that the opposite? Shouldn’t you be able to do it because you own it?"

"No! We are on a budget here since this isn’t your usual five-star!"

"But you can order a mango shake, and so far, the baby seems fine with that."

The morning was spent well. I enjoyed breakfast by the pool, where my husband fed me grilled items that he took out from the barbeque sticks himself.

Though honestly, if I wasn’t pregnant, I’d be full just by watching him strut around like that.

Lucian had always been handsome in suits, but something about him in casual clothes or this beachwear that barely covered things was enough to feed me and my imagination.

And I don’t really plan on telling him that part of my craving was generally seeing him.

Thankfully, I wasn’t one of those wives who hated seeing their husbands while pregnant.

I mean, if I was going to pick someone to stare at while pregnant, wouldn’t my husband be the best pick?

"Is something wrong? Did I give you something you don’t like?" Lucian’s face scrunched in alarm, and I had to immediately placate him by saying that it was all good. I was just momentarily dazed.

Who wouldn’t be when things are looking a little too perfect for someone who’s had it a bit harder for a long time?

I looked at the view and couldn’t help but ask, "Isn’t it perfect?"

Lucian nodded, maintaining his usual blank expression. "It’s... nice."

"Nice? You look at this and just say nice? This was your project, too, you know? At least muster up some enthusiasm!" I pouted at him.

Lucian tilted his head slightly, considering my words. "I am enthusiastic," he said.

"On the inside."

I rolled my eyes at how annoying he still was, but there wasn’t any real anger.

But as I leaned back into the beach bed, Lucian hovered over me, his hands wedging him up by the armrests.

"You roll your eyes like that confidently, huh?" Lucian had a sly smirk, and I narrowed my eyes.

Now, you see, as a pregnant woman, I may have developed a new weakness. I had become very ticklish.

And my husband was fully aware.

What followed was him tickling me and my bursts of laughter.

"Unfair!" I indignantly call him out for weaponizing my weakness.

Not that it did anything since I just kept on laughing.

Thankfully, he knew my limit and eventually stopped, but not before his usual stoic mask slipped entirely as he looked at me.

His expression was so tender it could have melted even my ’annoyed’ heart. So, I leaned in closer and kissed him on the nose before leaving behind a tiny smudge of sand on his face as my small act of defiance.

"You’re a meanie," I whispered.

"And you’re bossy," he replied, his voice warm but teasing.

"Sucks to be you. No refunds, no exchanges," I shot back while grinning at him before Lucian began kissing me senselessly.

Thankfully, Sid stopped clicking his camera after that because that would’ve been very embarrassing.

When he actually showed us the photos he got of everyone and asked if he could use ours for the campaign, I had to look at Lucian for approval because that was a face my big baby didn’t often make.

And now the world was going to see it.

"It’s fine. Send a print to the house." He waved at us, and I blinked at him.

"That easy?"

He shrugged.

The photo was lovely, and even I was surprised to see how we looked through another lens.

I gotta say, after seeing this, there was no way you could make me believe that my husband was just moderately obsessed with me.

Yeah, no.

That man was clearly mine.
