Chapter 654 -656: Flashback to Three Months Ago, Zodiac Conference

The last half-month of retrospection proceeded smoothly, at least that’s what Dr. Ma had claimed.

“Boss, what’s next…” Sun Zhen turned his head, wanting to say something to Qin Muye, but abruptly realized that the man had disappeared.

“What’s going on, what’s going on…” He had never expected that the person who had just helped him turn back time would vanish so inexplicably.

But soon, he forcibly calmed himself down, took out his communicator to contact Dr. Ma; this communicator was not an ordinary one, but one that Dr. Ma had given him during the last retrospection, so that he could contact the other party at the first moment.

“Dr. Ma, this is Sun Zhen, the situation is like this…” As soon as the communicator connected, he relayed the rough situation to Dr. Ma and also marked his own location.

“Stay where you are, I’ll come pick you up immediately,” Dr. Ma believed him, not because he was convinced by Sun Zhen, but because the serial number of the communicator Sun Zhen used was not one he had issued.

In that case, it was indeed possible that his future self had given it to Sun Zhen.

Dr. Ma arrived quickly with his team and also calmed the chaos at the local base, since the Biological Master was currently with Sun Zhen due to the time issue.

“This is the Biological Master,” Sun Zhen said as he handed it over, and then gave Dr. Ma the various recording devices as well.

“I understand, you’ve worked hard. Go rest for a bit; we’ll take care of the rest,” Dr. Ma said with a grave expression as he received the items.

“Yes, but there’s actually a small issue.” Sun Zhen hesitated, and finally mentioned Qin Muye’s abrupt disappearance, hoping Dr. Ma could help look for him.

This had never happened before.

“It might be due to the Time Retrospective Pocket Watch. You said it was at the cost of lifespan, but actually reversing time probably requires more than that.”

“So I can only do my best to help you look for him.”

At this moment, Dr. Ma was also overwhelmed with urgency, not only because of the information provided by Sun Zhen, but also because the Dust Crystal had disappeared.

These two matters were causing him severe headaches; either issue was significant.

“Alright, thank you, Dr. Ma.” At this point, Sun Zhen could only be so grateful. If he were to look by himself, he would definitely not find him; such an abrupt disappearance indicated there must be a problem.

With the vast resources of the All World Protector Organization, they would certainly be able to find him much faster than he could on his own.

After the team took Sun Zhen down for rest and a check-up, Dr. Ma rushed to meet with the other eleven Zodiac doctors to assess the situation.

Because it was an emergency meeting, the remaining eleven arrived quickly, though not in person, but as projections.

Each Zodiac doctor had their own responsibilities, like the Dragon doctor, who was always guarding a large number of Omega Level Abnormalities in the Dragon Vein.

“Dr. Ma, what matter has necessitated the use of your emergency meeting authority?” Rat doctor asked in surprise, as usually such authority was only invoked for matters concerning world stability.

“Apocalypse Level matters; everyone is here, and I’ve uploaded the data. Take a look for yourselves. I don’t have time to write a report, so I’ll narrate,” Dr. Ma said somberly, conveying to them what Sun Zhen had told him.

The remaining eleven Zodiac doctors also wore grave expressions, for indeed, this matter was too bizarre for them.

“How reliable is this information?” After Dr. Ma finished, Dragon doctor inquired, as this situation involved the Dragon Vein and the Emperor, and if these two abnormalities were to cause trouble, it could indeed reach the disaster level described in the files.

“Around ninety percent. He has the Biological Master and some of the local base’s armaments, and there were witnesses who saw Sun Zhen vanish while training,” Dr. Ma replied.

“With this, it indicates that the Emperor is indeed recovering, though the method is unknown. Is it related to the Nascent Soul?” Snake doctor immediately asked.

“Based on the current evidence, it is unrelated to the Nascent Soul. Sun Zhen once mentioned that the Nascent Soul was used as a medicine by the Time Retrospector in order to mitigate his own dangers, and at present, the Time Retrospector has disappeared, presumably assimilated by the Abnormality,” Dr. Ma reported truthfully, even if the other side had issues, the man was gone – where would you go to find him?

“Regardless of whether it’s related to the Nascent Soul or not, it doesn’t affect our next actions,” said Doctor Niu with a booming voice. “We can investigate, but we must not lay hands on them. Those willing to retrace three months to help us should not be met with cold hearts.” He seemed very dissatisfied with the group’s instinct to treat people as suspects from the outset.

The fact that they had made accomplishments was genuine. You can doubt and you can investigate, but you shouldn’t start by listing them as suspects.

“Recommend erasing Emperor directly from the root,” proposed Doctor Hu. Because of Doctor Niu’s statement, the topic of relevance was skipped.

First, deal with the major problem, the rest can follow.

“Besides, the Omega Level Abnormality·Dust Crystal has also gone missing, coinciding in time with the disappearance of the Biological Master,” Doctor Ma said.

This statement brought a momentary stillness to the entire meeting.

It meant, quite bluntly, that the Dust Crystal was suspected to have been obtained in the future as well, thus disappearing like the Biological Master did.

“Do you suspect the Time Retrospector secured it during the chaos of the future and that they might appear later?” asked Doctor Tu.

“That’s roughly the idea, but the other party has vanished,” Doctor Ma described the situation.

“Let’s skip this matter for now and focus on resolving the Emperor’s issue first,” Doctor Long stated.

The Dust Crystal wasn’t a major issue as it could be tracked and located. In contrast, the Emperor’s problem was more severe.

The Dragon Vein was considered one of the most important foundations for the All World Protector Organization, so it was critical to handle it appropriately.

Doctor Long’s words were met with unanimous agreement. The disappearance of the Dust Crystal could be handled by the Special Task Force, but the Emperor had to be eradicated from the root. This meant wholly destroying an Abnormality and ensuring there were no subsequent issues—a far from trivial matter.

“Suggest having Archer and Taotie assist,” said Doctor Gou, cautiously.

“The Abyss Will is also an option; it has been stabilizing the Emperor by consuming the Emperor’s excess control for the past few years,” added Doctor Long.

“The Cloud Whale group can be considered as an alternative,” suggested Doctor Zhu promptly.

“The Cloud Whale group is not suitable. Their collective strength is sufficient, but we can infer from past events that the Emperor has a certain degree of control over the Dragon Vein. If the Cloud Whales die, it might backfire,” Doctor Long objected.

Doctor Zhu didn’t argue but accepted further discussion, and the entire meeting continued for nearly three hours until the plan was firmly established.

To eradicate the Emperor from the root required an extensive list of preparations, and the group of twelve Zodiac Doctors felt relieved that Sun Zhen had returned three months prior instead of two and a half. Otherwise, three days would probably not have been enough to prepare. At least ten days would be needed to have a sufficient level of confidence.

This time, they were about to eliminate an Omega Level Abnormality. The necessary resources were by no means minor, necessitating numerous Abnormalities to cooperate, as well as various equipment, weapons, and contingencies for the aftermath of the Emperor’s erasure.

Erasing from the root meant making the Emperor disappear completely, not just physically but also from the cognitive level of awareness, much like Taotie once devoured a moon. What Taotie consumed wasn’t just the physical second moon, but also the collective consciousness and memory of it.

However, Taotie couldn’t manage this feat alone and needed someone to assist.

Archer was an excellent choice. He had once shot down nine suns, earning a repution akin to a god of war—an apex force and trump card within the All World Protector Organization.

Moreover, Qin Muye was also included in the plan. Most Abnormalities taken into consideration were identified as part of the human faction.

But sufficient combat strength was necessary to avoid being defeated before managing to deal with the Emperor, as that could potentially create larger problems than the Emperor himself. If the Cloud Whales simply transformed into the King of the Cloud Sea, for Abnormalities, death or destruction were far from beneficial outcomes.

“Since there are no objections, the meeting is adjourned. Arrange all matters as soon as possible. I will await you at the Dragon Vein,” Doctor Long declared. As the incident occurred at the Dragon Vein, it was natural for him to take command, and the other eleven Zodiac Doctors had no objections.

For them, this was not an unmanageable task. As long as the crisis could be averted, it mattered little who was in charge.
