Chapter 623 -625: Transformed into Human Dander

“A human skin?”

In the secret room, Qin Muye stared at the unrecognizable piece of skin, which was left by ‘Ling Wei’.

There’s no need to go into detail. Essentially, the next day after they arrived, Qin Muye and Sun Zhen overpowered her, pushed her into the basement, and before they could start doing some strange things, she turned into this.

At first, Qin Muye thought it was some sort of synthetic material or something, but after some inspection, he confirmed it was human skin.

This was indeed beyond his expectations. Sun Zhen, upon learning the truth, also couldn’t accept what had happened.

Who would have thought that a person’s real form would be a piece of skin, and moreover, a piece no larger than the size of a palm?

Qin Muye examined it carefully, noticing that there were stitches at the edges of the skin, as if it had fallen off an object.

“Flakes of skin from some massive entity…” Qin Muye said.

“How big would that be?” Sun Zhen tried to calm himself, then asked. It seemed he glimpsed ancient secrets from this small piece of human skin.

“Not sure, probably very big, very big.” Qin Muye added in his mind, ‘It might also be man-made.’

“What should we do next, a living person turned into a piece of skin, if someone comes looking, it might cause trouble,” said Sun Zhen, his expression somewhat ugly. Although he had been prepared for this, he still panicked when the time came.

“Don’t worry, ‘Ling Wei’ disappeared just as suddenly as she appeared.” Qin Muye did some investigating, and everything related to this woman was gone, as if she had never been there at all.

“If you don’t believe it, you can call your parents and ask about your fiancée. Most likely, they will curse at you for being insane.”

Whether it was online records or various local household registrations, they were gone, and even the property staff member who was planning to hook up with ‘Ling Wei’ had forgotten about this matter.

Everything seemed to have returned to its original state.

Qin Muye was pondering why she reverted to her original form. From the capture to imprisonment, he had never used lethal power, so it couldn’t have been his doing that turned her back into human skin.

‘Name or identity?’

The only time he had spoken was when he had revealed that she was not human but a ghost.

Otherwise, this incident could not be explained.

Sun Zhen, returning from his confirmation, also breathed a sigh of relief. Indeed, it was gone, and the memories that shouldn’t have been in his parents’ minds had disappeared as well.

“At least that’s resolved, next…”

“Who told you it’s been resolved? Have you forgotten there’s still one in your previous company? The reason ‘Ling Wei’ targeted you is because of him, and this matter is far from over,” Qin Muye interrupted him: “From the time you resigned until now, it wasn’t the newly born ‘Ling Wei’ pestering you. Once you see through the ghost’s identity, they won’t let you off.”

“You know, this is just one piece of skin. If there is a terrifying existence like a massive entity, guess how many flakes of skin it has.”

This statement caused Sun Zhen, who had just calmed down, to break out in a cold sweat on his forehead. Just one ‘Ling Wei’, could she be some great entity?

“We’ll deal with the manager first. I refuse to believe that huge entity would dare to make an open and aboveboard move!” At this point, Sun Zhen could only speak bravely.

“Are you sure it’s a kind of creature and not something akin to a concept? Are you sure your senses give you a true reflection of the world?” Qin Muye’s tone was very calm.

But Sun Zhen was panicking because he thought Qin Muye was right. Just a flake of skin could alter all sorts of magical aspects of the world, so how terrifying must the true form be? As an ordinary person, how could he possibly deal with it?

“What should I do then, wait, how do you know all this? You haven’t experienced it yourself, have you?” Sun Zhen’s eyes widened in shock as he looked at Qin Muye. Otherwise, how could he have shown up out of the blue?

“You think I could have actually gone through that and still be alive? I’m just plain curious.”

“But you’re right, we should take care of the manager first, then head to your hometown to look for that ancient book. Maybe we’ll find something useful.”

“We need to act fast, otherwise, if it’s too late, I reckon I could still be alive, but you, to be honest, the previous owner of this piece of human skin might have been someone in the know, just like you.”

Qin Muye just blurted it out, as he wasn’t really sure what was going on, but he knew one thing, there was an Omega Level Abnormality roaming the world, and it was possible that even the All World Protector Organization hadn’t noticed it.

To him, it was a massive treasure trove; not to mention, an Abnormality capable of such formidable commotion definitely possessed a World Source.

Ever since obtaining 0.3 units of World Source from Ghost ten years ago, he hadn’t acquired much more, because the existence of World Source usually required special beings like Ghost or Emperor, at the very least, an Omega Level Abnormality.

The kind of disaster that could lead to world annihilation and involve the Divine was not common, and even if there was one, Qin Muye wouldn’t willingly get involved, because that would be a significant event in the main quest line. If he actually completed it, he’d be sent back, and then, coming back here would mean a loss due to the difference in time flow.

However, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t actively gather related intelligence. Now that this was a brand new piece of information, he naturally had to intervene. If things went south, he’d definitely make a run for it at the first opportunity.

“So, how do we handle it, grab a chance to kidnap them back? We’d probably be caught within two days in broad daylight,” Sun Zhen admitted that Qin Muye had special powers, but he did not.

“No need for that hassle; you just expose their Ghost identity, then they’ll turn back into human skin on their own,” Qin Muye said earnestly.

Sun Zhen recalled the process of ‘Ling Wei’ reverting back to human skin, and it seemed to be the case indeed.

“Alright, the target should still be at the office at this hour. Let’s head out immediately,” Sun Zhen said on the spot.

“Drop the ‘let’s’. Just you. You go and come back quickly, I’ll pack up some stuff, and then today we head to your hometown together,” Qin Muye rolled his eyes. All this ‘let’s’ talk; he wasn’t going. Why would he bother taking an hour-long bus ride, with waiting for connections in between?

Hearing this, Sun Zhen’s face fell. Qin Muye was his main support, and if he wasn’t going, how could Sun Zhen dare to go? What if he couldn’t succeed and was counter-killed?

It wasn’t impossible; Sun Zhen was just an ordinary person, and the opponent was the skin flake of some terrifying entity. Naturally, he was scared. Anyone who said they weren’t afraid was lying.

“What do you even have to pack… Everything in this house is mine. We just go to the company, deal with the manager and then head straight home by car. If I have to come back here, that’s another hour wasted.”

“Don’t you watch those horror movies where splitting up leads to certain doom, picked off one by one? We must act together.”

At this point, Sun Zhen couldn’t care about anything else; he spoke with sincere conviction. Of course, the idea was to take someone along for the ride, safety first. If something did happen, he could just cling to their legs.

“I’ve looked at the map already. The train station is in the opposite direction of your company, don’t try to fool me,” Qin Muye said wistfully.

“Ah, that… Let’s take a plane then!” Sun Zhen sulkily replied, as the airport certainly wasn’t on the other side.

“Are you out of your mind? If a Ghost ends up being the pilot, jumping off a train could still leave you alive, but if something happens on a plane, you’d be lucky to be left with a fingertip,” Qin Muye pointed out, knowing the fearsomeness of Ghosts and still daring to suggest flying, such boldness.

“…” Sun Zhen realized Qin Muye was determined to make him go alone, but quickly he caught on: “Are you planning to use me as bait?”

Otherwise, Qin Muye wouldn’t make it difficult to accompany him.

“Wow, you figured it out; not bad, little brain. Don’t worry, it’s not dangerous,”

“You know I can go unnoticed, and at the right moment, I can strike unexpectedly, catching them off guard. But if I’m with you, that trump card would be wasted,” Qin Muye said with deep meaning, though Sun Zhen was somewhat skeptical.

“Don’t try to fool me, but since you put it that way, I’ll give it a try. Remember to save me if it doesn’t work out,” Sun Zhen was doubtful but ultimately agreed to Qin Muye’s request.

After all, things had reached this point; he didn’t have much choice in the matter.
