Young Noble Be Monster Slaying
Chapter 962: Really Fast (I)

Chu Liang had to explain himself quite a bit before Noble Baize finally believed that he wasn’t there to pry out of curiosity or act as a spy for some enemy faction. He was doing everything he could to bring Tuntun back.

Only after hearing the whole story did Baize speak with some thoughtfulness. “He doesn’t have a father. I birthed him through the union of yin and yang.”

She then explained the details to Chu Liang.

Celestial beasts like her, as well as Taotie, Taowu, and the Heaven-Devouring Bug, were born from the Great Dao itself. They did not need to reproduce. If they ever forced a union with another species, the child that resulted would no longer be a true celestial beast.

Spirit beasts such as dragons, phoenixes, and qilin were different. They were powerful not only because they inherited the traits of celestial beasts but because they could reproduce.

For a celestial beast like Baize, who had emerged from the Great Dao, to give birth to a child of her own was already a miracle that went beyond the limits of the heavens and the earth.

She had managed it only because she possessed a deep understanding of the Great Dao of Yin and Yang.

“All things are made of yin and yang,” Baize explained. “If you extract the yin and harmonize it with yang, it will produce a result. I gave you a seed of the Great Dao of Yin and Yang in the past. This should not be a difficult concept for you to grasp.”

Chu Liang gave a small nod in response.

From what he had just heard, Chu Liang could now roughly understand how Baize had done it. She had replicated her own yin and yang energies to create a life essence that was almost the same as her own.

This form of reproduction was far more exact than ordinary mating. Being the master of the Great Dao of Yin and Yang and possessing the power of an existence at the brink of ascension, she could analyze the yin and yang energies of any living creature and eventually recreate that species.

In this way, Baize could already be considered the Nuwa[1] of this generation. She would be the master of single-gender reproduction and a blessing to all the infertile individuals.

However, when it came to restoring Tuntun’s life essence, this wasn’t enough...

Baize could create a new life essence, but she could not reproduce the exact one that belonged to another living being. That was beyond the scope of the Great Dao of Yin and Yang.

At this point, Chu Liang realized that there had to be a Dao higher than the Great Dao of Yin and Yang, a power great enough to reshape and restore the infinite forms of life.

"Creation..." Chu Liang muttered to himself. He had slowly begun to grasp the true meaning of life essence.

When Deity Pan died, his body transformed into all things under heaven. Among them were countless forms of life essence. At their core, they were made of yin qi and yang qi, but they still required something more. It was the power to create something from nothing.

That was the Dao of Creation.

Using Deity Pan’s spine as the structure for the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda was almost wasteful. It held enough of the Great Dao to accomplish far greater feats. Even so, it still elevated the Demon-Suppressing Pagoda to become the most legendary artifact in the world.

To put it simply, the Dao of Creation was the power to bring something into existence from nothing.

Life essence was merely one of its more advanced expressions. True creation meant the ability to produce anything. It could begin with yin and yang, the spiritual auras of the five elements, heavenly winds, earthly seas, or even emerge when there was nothing at all.

Chu Liang’s heart pounded in his chest. He felt as if he were brushing against the very core of all Daos, something that would make one close to being a god. He had never heard of anyone who had truly comprehended the Dao of Creation. If not for the Deity Pan’s Bone he once possessed and the White Pagoda now residing in his soul, he might never have even known that such a Dao existed.

Gazing into the space within the White Pagoda, observing each enchanted artifact that had emerged from it, the Dao essence within Chu Liang’s spirit sense began to take form.

He raised his hand into the void and drew together a wisp of golden spiritual qi. In the blink of an eye, it took shape and became a gold ingot in his palm. This was not remote retrieval. It was pure creation.

Chu Liang had comprehended the Great Dao of Creation!

However, he had only grasped its surface. He had not become the master of this Great Dao of Creation. He still could not create something out of absolute nothing. He had to use the spiritual energy of this world as the base to create even something simple.

Looking at Tuntun within the great cocoon, he clenched his jaw.

I must speed up, and to do that, I need a little help.

Boooooooooooom!

Chu Liang left Baize’s secluded cultivation chamber and made his way to the newly rebuilt Red Cotton Peak to visit his “mother-in-law.” But before he could even catch sight of Bai Yuxian, a thunderous boom split the skies above.

From within the violet-gold flames, a streak of white light burst out first. It was Bai Yuxian.

Hovering in midair, she shouted, “I knew you were always looking for a chance to fight me! Since that’s what you want, stop pretending. Let’s settle this now!”

On the opposite side, a pair of phoenix fire wings spun through the sky and landed. Unsurprisingly, it was Di Nufeng. She sneered, “Hee-hee-hee, that’s right. I’ve never liked the look of you.”

The last to emerge from the flames was the Whale-Riding Immortal. His hair was charred, and he looked rather miserable. He waved both hands over his head and shouted, “Hey! Can you two stop fighting already?”

That might have been the worst thing he could have said. It sounded just like the bell that signaled the start of a duel between two women.

Di Nufeng shot forward and ignited in midair as her entire body became engulfed in a roaring blaze of Samadhi True Fire. Compared to before, her divine fire had become even more explosive and refined. Each spark carried intense pressure and razor-sharp force. As she closed the distance, she threw a punch so powerful that even Evil Ksitigarbha’s corporeal body would have suffered from it, not to mention a human.

Bai Yuxian remained calm and did not dodge in panic. Instead, she raised a circular disk. As her foundational qi surged through it, the disk unfolded into a translucent curtain of icy blue water, forming a barrier in front of her.

Di Nufeng’s blazing punch slammed into the water barrier and sent violent ripples outward, but the barrier held firm.

At the same time, Bai Yuxian extended her right arm and released a storm of white threads. It was the Thousand-Strand Immortal-Binding Net, which she had used to subdue Evil Ksitigarbha. Needless to say, it was extremely powerful.

When Di Nufeng saw the net, she twisted her body and transformed into a blazing orb of fire. In the blink of an eye, she encircled Bai Yuxian and tightened the sphere around her.

Bai Yuxian responded by expanding the water screen in her palm until it became a prison of water, which then burst outward from within.

Boooooooom!

Another boom rang out as water and fire exploded in all directions. Bai Yuxian and Di Nufeng both landed on the ground, each retreating several dozen steps.

Di Nufeng had only just become the master of the Great Dao of Incinerating Heaven, yet she already showed perfect affinity with it. The fact that she could fight someone as strong as Bai Yuxian right after her breakthrough proved her extraordinary talent.

On the other hand, the fact that Bai Yuxian was able to hold her ground against the power of the Dao of Incinerating Heaven showed just how strong she really was.

After that exchange, it was fair to say the two of them were evenly matched.

As Di Nufeng and Bai Yuxian fought, Chu Liang could only watch from the sidelines. He whispered to Jiang Yuebai, “What happened? What kind of grudge would make them fight like this?”

Jiang Yuebai shook her head with a helpless look and answered softly, “The reconstruction of the Red Cotton Peak was just completed, so everyone came to see it. Your teacher and my mother happened to run into each other. They made eye contact, and then your teacher asked her one thing…”

Chu Liang guessed, “What are you looking at?”

“Exactly,” Jiang Yuebai said with a sigh. “Then my mother replied, ‘Looking at you, so what?’ and they started fighting on the spot.”

Chu Liang could not help but cover his face with his hand.

The disaster he had feared most had finally happened.

Back at Jiang Tiankuo’s wedding, his teacher had caused quite a scene. Bai Yuxian had probably held a grudge ever since. Even though decades had passed, it was clear that neither woman was the type to let things go.

If his teacher had still been in the seventh realm, she might have held back. But now that she had reached the eighth realm, not even the higher-ups of the Mount Shu Sect could keep her under control. How could things possibly remain peaceful?

Booooom!
