Young Master Is Being Jealous Again! -
Chapter 948: Ruanruan’s Identity: Wife of the Emperor, Mother of the Netherworld
Chapter 948: Chapter 948: Ruanruan’s Identity: Wife of the Emperor, Mother of the Netherworld
Qin Ruan’s calm eyes fixed on the window outside, where the cold and malignant Evil Qi lingered. She couldn’t help but wonder if this aura of evil presence existed in the villa area itself, or if it had arisen because of her arrival.
She always felt as if something was watching her, and the feeling was intense.
With an icy expression and eyes drooping to appear harmless, Qin Ruan said to He Mingjin, "I’ll take that painting from downstairs with me. In the future, make sure to have someone examine old items before bringing them into the house. The times are troubled, it’s better to be careful and cautious."
These were not mere words—evil spirits in the Human Realm had indeed been on the rise; the times truly were troubled.
He Mingjin didn’t grasp the deeper meaning of her words; he tugged at the corner of his lips and asked politely, "Then may I ask the Third Young Madam to examine items for me next time?"
Qin Ruan responded, "Of course."
She took out her phone, glanced at the time, and said, "I should be going, see you later, Mr. He."
He Mingjin said, "Shall I see you out?"
Qin Ruan looked him up and down leisurely, "Are you planning to go out like that? Aren’t you afraid of being mistaken for a creep?"
Mr. He looked down and saw that he was only wearing a coat with nothing underneath. Going out like that would surely cause misunderstanding if the Huo Family’s Hidden Guards saw him, and he felt like he wouldn’t be able to explain it away with mere words.
"No need to see me out, I can manage on my own."
Qin Ruan strolled past him towards the exit.
He Mingjin turned back, watching her slender figure departing, "Madam Huo, I will personally deliver the Emperor Green Jade Stone to the Qin Family another day. Thank you for your intervention this time."
"You’re too polite, Mr. He."
With her back to him, Qin Ruan casually waved her hand in farewell.
Clutching the sketch, she stepped out of the villa’s front door, spotting Huo Zhi leaning against the front of a car.
His eyes were glazed, staring blankly at something, completely motionless.
Huo Zhi usually was the first to detect Qin Ruan’s presence, but today, there was no greeting, and he didn’t even hear the footsteps behind him.
Sensing something strange, Qin Ruan approached the car, opened the rear door, and placed the painting inside.
She called out, "Huo Zhi, what are you thinking about? It’s time to go."
The figure leaning against the car body remained unmoved, not uttering a word.
Qin Ruan’s eyebrows furrowed slightly and just as she realized something was amiss, a large shadow loomed over her.
Something was behind her, its body exuding the stench of blood as if it had crawled out from a pile of corpses after a battle.
The odor was so strong it was impossible to cover, and it assaulted the nostrils, making her feel nauseated.
Qin Ruan knew it was too late to hide; she had to confront it head-on.
She narrowed her eyes, filled with a desire for blood and ruthlessness, and a faint golden light swirled around her fingertips. She spun around quickly and lunged to attack before she could see what was behind her clearly.
When she finally saw the face of her adversary, surprise flickered in her eyes, followed by utter disbelief.
Yet what shocked her more was how easily the entity evaded an attack powered by Nether Divine Power.
"Madam Huo, it’s been a while, you’ve grown stronger!"
The somewhat mocking voice reached Qin Ruan’s ears, and she scrunched her eyebrows together, studying the man in front of her who wore black, his body exuding an air of arrogant pride.
A third of his face was covered with fine black scales.
Despite that, Qin Ruan still recognized him through his appearance and the familiar tone of his voice.
"Nangong Chang! You’re still alive!"
Qin Ruan was extremely shocked at heart.
She knew that when this man died, it was a total obliteration, his soul scattering to the winds.
Nangong Chang laughed coldly, his voice chilling, "How could I die? The ancient Dragon Clan is immortal. I’ve merely returned to my position ahead of time."
Qin Ruan’s lips twitched slightly, "You... are of the Dragon Clan?"
She hadn’t really seen anything about Nangong Chang that resembled the Dragon Clan.
His appearance and voice had not changed much from when he was alive; he still looked mostly human, except for the black dragon scales on his face, as ordinary as any other person.
Receiving Qin Ruan’s skeptical gaze, Nangong Chang clenched his fists tightly, and his ordinary face twisted slightly.
He raised his chin and spoke with a deep voice, "I didn’t come here today to discuss my identity with you. Qin Ruan, don’t you want to know your own identity?"
The pride and haughtiness innate to the Dragon Clan emanated from Nangong Chang, making it difficult for Qin Ruan to dismiss his words outright.
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and scoffed, "My identity? What identity could I possibly have? I am merely one lucky to have been reborn and favored by the Underworld King, a Conductor walking among the Human Realm."
Now that Nangong Chang had become an ancient Divine Beast, Qin Ruan no longer concealed her own origins.
"Hahahaha..."
Nangong Chang’s laughter was loud and thunderous, as if he had heard a hilarious joke.
With the onset of his laughter, the entire villa area was swept by a gusty wind, ruffling Qin Ruan’s hair, which spilled over her shoulders.
She brushed her hair with an impatient expression, annoyed at the disturbance caused by Nangong Chang’s entry.
The beauty slightly furrowed her brows, which itself was captivating, dazzling the eyes of those who beheld her.
In his previous life, Nangong Chang might have been attracted to Qin Ruan’s exceptional looks and figure, as well as the wild temperament that she concealed upon her.
Now, he wouldn’t be hooked by her as before, like a human whose heart is scratched by a cat’s paws, but rather as an ancient divine dragon.
Reflecting on all the memories of the past millennium, he now wanted nothing more than to avoid Qin Ruan.
This woman was not one to be easily involved with, she dared to provoke the one from Fengdu in the Netherworld, loving and killing each other, turning from intimacy to enmity.
Qin Ruan brushed her hair aside, her gaze coldly fixed on Nangong Chang, "What exactly do you want to do?"
Her body radiated a natural chill, and her eyes filled with a fierce and cold light that made one shiver without feeling cold.
Unaffected by her demeanor, Nangong Chang’s lips curved with a devilish smirk, asking with malicious intent, "Qin Ruan, do you know who Huo Yunjiao is?"
Qin Ruan displayed impatience and her tone was extremely displeased, "If you want to say something, just say it. Don’t beat around the bush. I don’t have time to go in circles with you!"
"Your Huo Family’s Third Master is the Northern Underworld Prince of Fengdu, the supreme god of the Netherworld!"
"Impossible!"
Qin Ruan rejected the notion without even thinking.
To her, this was nothing short of a ludicrous fairy tale.
If the Third Master was truly the Emperor of Fengdu, she would wake up laughing from her dream, as she would not have to worry about him dying young.
Not expecting her to believe so easily, Nangong Chang scoffed and said, "You are a divine beast of the ancient Tu Mountain lineage, the Nine-tailed Fox, a member of the Divine Clan, a noble auspicious creature, not the seductive demon of rumors known for cultivating charm and inducing temptation."
Hearing his increasingly absurd statements, Qin Ruan’s eyes slightly dropped, her tranquil and solemn face remained unmoved.
Nangong Chang noticed the change in her expression and continued, "The Emperor of Fengdu is playing a big game; we are all but pawns on his chessboard.
Do you think you have been reborn? Ridiculous! There’s no such thing as reincarnation, it’s just the Emperor of Fengdu extending your divine soul into a small world. His aim is the child in your womb, the next Northern Underworld Prince."
The usually composed Qin Ruan showed a trace of fluctuation in her expression.
Her eyes turned icy cold, with undisguised murderous intent, "You said I’m from the Divine Clan, then tell me, how did I die?"
Relying on Nangong Chang’s words alone, she did not believe him.
She resented him for stirring up trouble between her, the Third Master, and their child – a matter she could not tolerate.
Nangong Chang’s brows slightly furrowed behind his dragon scales, not entirely sure as he said, "I heard you were slain by the Yin Soldiers under the Emperor of Fengdu, and your brother’s soul was destroyed, leaving him without a burial place!"
Qin Ruan sneered with a sarcastic expression, "Do you think I would believe that?"
Unperturbed by her skepticism, Nangong Chang’s tone was firm, "Every Emperor is protected by the Heavenly Dao. If Little Emperor were to be born into the Netherworld, it would be thrown into chaos. The Emperor of Fengdu, being the reigning sovereign, didn’t hesitate to activate the power of time reversal to conceive the next Emperor with you again.
Yet, you’re filled with gratitude towards the Evil Puppets of the Netherworld, willing to sustain your life with Evil Qi, to live a long life with Huo Yunjiao. A hundred years later, when he returns to his throne, what about you?
Your soul incomplete, even though you have a Demi-God Body, you will experience soul disintegration sooner or later, just like your brother, forever disappearing from the realms."
Qin Ruan remained unconvinced, firmly believing in her Third Master.
There were many holes in Nangong Chang’s words.
If the Third Master was truly the Emperor of Fengdu, why would he kill her and the child, only to use the power of time reversal and continue to conceive offspring with her.
This was simply absurd and redundant!
One must know that for the Emperor of Fengdu to activate time reversal with Divine Power, he would pay a tremendous price. The barrier between the Human Realm and the Netherworld would weaken day by day, and the Evil Puppets locked away in Hell and Fengdu would start to stir, leading to a catastrophic calamity for both worlds.
Suddenly, Qin Ruan slightly furrowed her brows, showing a trace of something unusual on her face.
There was frequent unrest in the Human Realm nowadays, could there really be some connection?
Nangong Chang watched with a cold eye as Qin Ruan’s expression began to soften, continuing, "If you don’t believe it, go ahead and verify it with the Underworld King. He, along with the Five Ghost Emperors, are the Emperor of Fengdu’s close aides."
At the same time, a distinguished guest arrived in the forbidden area of Shengshi Academy; the Underworld King had come from the Netherworld.
Chu Zifeng seemed to have anticipated the Underworld King’s arrival. He stood in front of the ancient door, dressed in white, surrounded by an aura of immortal presence.
His crow-colored long hair cascaded down his back, and in the darkness of the night, his fair and handsome face appeared like that of an immortal.
Upon seeing the Underworld King materializing in the courtyard, Chu Zifeng’s lips slightly raised, a hint of a lazy smile emerged, "Ming Tianheng, a thousand years have passed, and you are as beautiful as ever."
"Cut the crap! There’s trouble!"
The Underworld King’s exquisite face was as dark as water. He stepped forward, gripping Chu Zifeng’s arm forcefully, his voice grave, "Where is the Emperor’s essence blood?"
"Has it come to the point where we need to use the Master’s essence blood?"
Chu Zifeng had a premonition something would happen that day, but hadn’t expected it to be this serious.
With a touch of irritation in his voice, the Underworld King said, "Qin Ruan’s sealed memory has been disturbed. Only the Master’s essence blood can continue to keep her memory sealed. This life has been hard-won; we can’t let it be easily destroyed, or else the efforts of a millennium will have been in vain!"
Chu Zifeng’s eyes revealed doubt, the smile on his lips fading away, "Who exactly is Qin Ruan?"
The Underworld King gave him a strange look, "The wife of the Emperor, the master mother of the Netherworld!"
Chu Zifeng’s pupils shook, a torrent of memories flooded into his mind, and his puzzled expression underwent a dramatic change.
A cold light flickered in his eyes, and he briskly shook off the Underworld King’s hand, turning around with a cold face to address Awei, the female puppet beside him, "Stand guard outside. If any death-seeking creatures dare to intrude, show no mercy and kill them!"
