The door bore the loud knocks accompanied by the enraged voice of a woman, alerting everyone in the room.

All eyes turned to the tightly closed door that was still being pounded on.

Hearing the familiar sound from outside, Qin Ruan’s bewitching face momentarily froze in calm surprise.

The voice from outside was far too familiar; it was Li Zilan.

The door was opened, and one of the men under Grandpa Jiang strode in and announced, "Su Wang, Li Zilan, Shen Ran, they’re making a clamor to come in."

The mature and stable-looking man who followed her in admonished.

Su Wang ignored the irritable Li Zilan, his eyes scanning up and down Qin Ruan, noting how she looked different from before, with her self-contained aura about her.

She seemed like a different person now, a total stranger.

Su Wang asked Qin Ruan, "Xiaowu, why did you come back?"

Seeing her old friends again, Qin Ruan’s eyes softened into the shape of crescents and she replied cheerfully.

It felt like she was back in old times, and she couldn’t resist joking with them, "To see if you were still alive."

"Xiaowu, that’s not nice. Who curses at their friends upon meeting them, huh? Is our friendship so cheap that it’s faded within just a year of absence?"

The one who followed in was a lad with handsome features and a gentle demeanor.

Qin Ruan swept her gaze over him before calling out familiarly, "Ranzi! Long time no see!"

She opened her arms as she approached the three of them, "Wang Brother, Ranzi, Zilan, I’ve missed you guys so much!"

"Go away! I don’t want to miss you!"

Li Zilan was the first to dodge. She looked at Qin Ruan with contempt.

Shen Ran loathed it when others called him a damsel. While it’s true his facial features were rather clean-cut, he was far from effeminate.

Qin Ruan listened to Josh’s cries coming from inside the room, a faint smile curling her lips. She said goodbye to Shen Ran and left.
