Chapter 485: You Lack the Grandeur of Third Master’s Strategic Planning
Chapter 485: Chapter 485: You Lack the Grandeur of Third Master’s Strategic Planning
Seeing Josh vomit his guts out in anguish to the point of almost throwing up his bile, Mister Jiang let out a low sigh.
He signaled his henchmen, who were restraining Josh, to release him.
The men loosened their grip on Josh and stepped back.
Mister Jiang squatted down in front of Josh, seemingly unbothered by the acrid smell of alcohol in his vomit.
With a smile in his eyes, he looked at Josh, "Boy, it doesn’t matter how "fancy" your background is. You must understand one thing.
There are plenty of ways to make someone disappear without a trace. They scheme in the shadows, while you are in plain sight. Killing someone like you is all too easy for us."
Josh, lost in his blurry, nauseous state, hardly registered Mister Jiang’s words.
But the mention of death triggered his already heightened sensitivity.
Seeing Mister Jiang close at hand, Josh lunged forward and grabbed the collar of his Tang suit: "If you want to kill me, I’ll take you down with me!"
With that said, Josh forcibly threw his head forward.
"Bang!"
Caught off guard, Mister Jiang was headbutted by Josh.
Jiang, knocked onto the ground, was quickly pinned down by Josh. The young man’s fists swung indiscriminately at his face.
Mister Jiang didn’t dodge the first punch.
Unsatisfied, Josh’s numb hand went for Jiang’s face once more, his face full of revulsion.
This time though, his punch was caught by a delicate hand.
Qin Ruan tightly gripped Josh’s hand and softly said, "Enough, Josh. Mister Jiang means you no harm."
Josh looked up, revealing a pair of bloody eyes full of murderous intent.
In his disheveled state, he was like a provoked, immature leopard, his rationale on the brink of collapse and his consciousness teetering on the edge of danger.
"No harm intended?"
Josh subconsciously echoed Qin Ruan’s words.
If Mister Jiang’s treatment of him just now was without ill intent, then what would ill intent even look like?
Qin Ruan tightened her grip and pulled Josh off Mister Jiang.
Mister Jiang slowly got to his feet, touched his bruised cheek, and wore a mystifying expression.
It was hard to say whether the expression was of suppressed anger from being preyed upon by an eagle or resentment from getting beaten, a rare occurrence.
He remarked, "The kid’s quite ferocious."
Lin Hao came to Mister Jiang’s side and asked with a smile, "Are you alright, Mister Jiang?"
"What could possibly be wrong?" Mister Jiang retorted disdainfully.
The trace of the punch still starkly marked on his face.
Lin Hao stood to the side, holding back laughter.
This was the first time he had seen Mister Jiang get hit. The sight was quite novel to him.
Mister Jiang glared at Lin Hao and mockingly scolded, "What’s so funny, you brat?"
Lin Hao cleared his throat a little and stated, "The young master of the Huo Family seems to hold a grudge. Considering he’s going to be in West City for a while, you might want to tread carefully, Mister Jiang."
"Am I afraid of him?!" Jiang retorted, his eyes wide and demeanor all high and mighty.
The more he spoke like this, the more Lin Hao realized that deep down, Jiang did have a sense of fear towards Josh.
After all, he was from the Huo Family, and his biological father was the head of the Doyle Family in Yi Country.
When Josh earlier talked about taking down all of West City as co-conspirators, Lin Hao didn’t think he was exaggerating.
If anything were to happen to Josh in West City, and the Huo Family didn’t intervene, no doubt the Doyle Family would topple West City.
Indeed, the background on this brat is terrifying enough to make anyone think twice.
Anyone planning to take him on was playing with fire - unless they had several lives to spare for the impending wrath of the Doyle Family and the Huo Family.
Qin Ruan helped Josh to take a seat and removed a white handkerchief to wipe away traces of vomit from around his mouth.
"Sister-in-law, are you messing with me?"
At this point, Josh was beginning to suspect the situation.
His vexation ran deep.
Standing in front of the gentle Qin Ruan, however, Josh found himself struggling to suppress his internal rage.
After wiping away the mess, Qin Ruan threw the handkerchief on the table casually.
She said in a soft tone, "Josh, if we set aside your status as the young master of the Doyle Family and your identity as the grandson of the Huo Family, you’re nothing in West City."
"There’s no such thing as ’if’; I was born with an identity that makes others look up to me."
With an air of melancholy in his eyes, Josh knew he was no ordinary person.
It’s not that he didn’t understand certain things, he just didn’t want to complicate matters.
Ever since he was born, people have looked up to him and complimented him. He was able to enjoy a life of absolute freedom that many could not.
All of this was due to his distinguished status at birth.
He was destined by the heavens to be of noble status and admired by all.
Qin Ruan’s deep eyes stared down at Josh, catching every bit of his bitterness and humiliation.
She shook her head sadly and said, "Your third brother has a distinguished status and is considered a favorite among all descendants. His position is much higher than yours, yet unfortunately, you lack half of his tactical genius."
It was a fact Josh couldn’t argue against.
His parents often praised his third cousin’s wisdom and strategies, comparing him favorably to their paternal grandfather.
Ignoring the burning feeling, Josh retorted, "My third cousin is almost ten years older than me!"
Qin Ruan said calmly, "The East has a saying: ’you can see one’s maturity at the age of three.’ Your upbringing has resulted in your character having many glaring issues.
You are inherently arrogant and selfish. Since coming to Capital City, how many problems have you caused?
This time, since your third cousin is not here and this problem of yours has been handed to me. I won’t spoil you like your second uncle and third cousin have.
These instances of luck you’ve had can’t be sustained. From today onwards, you are to survive alone in West City until your third cousin returns. Any objections?"
Josh had plenty of objections.
He gritted his teeth and declared, "Yes, I don’t want to be here. Let’s pick another place."
This was his last stand; anywhere but West City would work.
Qin Ruan’s gaze was stern as she eyed Josh, her decision too, was firm.
From today, she was determined to leave Josh in West City alone, to experience a life without status privilege.
Mister Jiang quietly approached Qin Ruan and whispered, "Madam, Su Wang and his men are here."
Mister Jiang’s respectful attitude towards Qin Ruan left Josh dumbstruck.
He knew it, he just knew...
Everything that just happened was a setup!
"Sister-in-law!"
Unable to contain his anger any longer, Josh lost control towards Qin Ruan.
Qin Ruan gave him a quick glance and asked calmly, "How did it feel, being on the brink of death?"
It was an experience of humiliation that Josh could never forget in his lifetime.
This was the first time in his life that he was ever manipulated like this.
Qin Ruan said with nonchalance, "Do you know that for a long period, I lived through that kind of experience? Living is not an easy task."
Josh puffed his cheeks out, staring at Qin Ruan, "I am not you!"
"Indeed, but you need this kind of life to temper your temperament."
Josh was on the brink of tears. He finally realized that Qin Ruan had made up her mind to abandon him here.
"Are you not afraid my third cousin will find out about this?"
Qin Ruan slightly raised her eyebrows, "Of course not. Right now, your third cousin was hoping that I would take on the responsibilities of managing the affairs of the Huo Family. You are the first task he left for me."
Yes, a task.
This is homework purposely left by the third cousin for Qin Ruan.
The fellow ran away, leaving behind Josh, a hedonistic playboy who was set in his ways.
It was a headache indeed.
Josh seemed to be difficult to discipline.
