Chapter 477: Chapter 477: When Madam is in a Bad Mood, Others Suffer
Qin Ruan walked up to Lin Hao, patted him on the shoulder and said gravely, "It’s okay, just cherish every moment."
In his previous life, Lin Hao was expected to die prematurely. Due to a strange twist of fate, his life was extended and his body underwent peculiar changes which were, to some extent, understandable.
She had a gut feeling that the changes in Lin Hao’s physique could not be reversed.
Lin Hao found Qin Ruan’s words rather ominous, as if he were on his deathbed.
He swallowed, removed Qin Ruan’s hand from his shoulder and his face turned somewhat pale.
"Qin Xiaowu, don’t scare me. I’m faint-hearted!"
Being around Qin Ruan exposed him to sights he would rather not see, which would take more than two or three encounters to get used to.
Or perhaps even after a dozen or more episodes, he would never fully adapt.
Qin Ruan’s eyes radiated a playful glint, eyebrows arching into crescents, as she jested, "If you’re faint-hearted, then nobody is brave."
Who didn’t know of the legendary daredevil Lin Hao, the former ’wild wolf’ of West City?
The Lin Hao standing before her now appeared to be restrained and obedient, but deep down, he was anything but at peace.
Lin Hao felt tormented inside. He ran his hands through his hair and said, "Don’t you think what you said earlier was unsettling? What does ’cherish every moment’ imply?"
Qin Ruan did not hold back: "As per my prediction, your eyes might be just like mine. I fear you will have to deal with evil spirits for a long time."
Lin Hao turned pale instantly, looking as if he were about to burst into tears.
"Stop kidding around, I want to live a few more years."
Deal with evil spirits long-term?
He’d prefer to die!
Qin Ruan spoke to him earnestly: "I’m not joking. There’s an 80% chance you will start seeing evil spirits more frequently. Just wait and see."
Lin Hao attempted a rigid smile and asked, "Isn’t there a way to make it disappear?"
Qin Ruan shrugged, "I can’t do it. Your physique must have changed."
"Try thinking again."
Lin Hao refused to accept this harsh reality.
Seeing Lin Hao on the brink of a breakdown, Qin Ruan’s eyes gleemed.
Instead of offering sympathy, she teased, "By the time I come up with something, you might have already adapted to seeing evil spirits regularly."
"Adapt to this kind of thing?!" Lin Hao raised his voice significantly, "I can’t. I really don’t want to see those things!"
Anticipating his future dealings with evil spirits, Lin Hao turned as pale as the club manager.
Qin Ruan’s smile faded, and she spoke soothingly, "If there was a way, I would have done it a long time ago. Why would I warn you to prepare for the future?"
Lin Hao felt defeated but still asked in a hopeful voice, "So there’s really no way?"
Qin Ruan shook her head, "No way, for now."
This ’for now’ seemed like a ray of light at the end of the tunnel to the desperate Lin Hao.
"Even if there’s a way in the future, I don’t want to deal with those eerie phenomena on a daily basis, even if I develop a stronger mental resilience."
During Lin Hao’s complaint, the manager walked towards them, carrying the child which had been clinging to his legs.
"Madam Huo?"
Qin Ruan turned around, her eyes returning to their usual coldness.
Before the club manager could put a word in, she said bluntly, "I know what you’re going to say. There are things that are beyond my control.
This child’s spirit is unstable. If he doesn’t enter the reincarnation cycle soon, his soul will scatter. You should find a Taoist temple to send him on his way. Any reputable temple will do."
The club manager broke his gaze from his son and looked at Qin Ruan, pleading, "Do I have to send him away?"
Qin Ruan chuckled, her laughter not reaching her eyes, "You don’t have to."
Just when the manager started to show a glimmer of hope, Qin Ruan’s next words shattered it.
She said coldly, "Then wait for his soul to scatter and his existence in this world to completely vanish."
The manager’s hopes were crushed instantly.
He stammered, trying to make another request of Qin Ruan.
Impatient, Qin Ruan checked the time. It was already afternoon, three hours before she had to meet Josh at Xiao Yujie’s place.
She frowned slightly, "Now that your issue is resolved, it’s time I dealt with mine."
The manager seemed to change instantly.
All his sorrow, his affection for the child, everything disappeared without a trace.
"I will not do anything detrimental to Yejue Club or the Su Family!"
The manager immediately voiced his stance, quelling Qin Ruan’s intention to win him over.
Looking at him, Qin Ruan felt an inexplicable sense of eeriness, "You have quite a lot of concerns."
She hadn’t even made any overt moves, and yet here he was, casting her in a villainous light.
Not interested in watching the manager overthink the situation, Lin Hao addressed him assertively, "Madam here wants to pay a visit to one of the rooms upstairs. We’re just letting you know in advance."
The manager’s defensive expression relaxed, "Which room?"
He could deal with something as small as this, and given Qin Ruan’s status, he couldn’t refuse either.
Yesterday, when she caused a ruckus, he had no idea that she was the wife of Master Huo. Had he known, his treatment towards her would not have been so... hostile.
Qin Ruan looked up slightly at the manager, her gaze calm.
Her red lips moved, "Room 488."
The manager recalled the guests who came today. Room 488 was occupied by a group of young men and women, roughly the same age as Qin Ruan.
"Sure, you can go as you please."
The manager was visibly relieved.
The identities of those people were of no significance. He saw no need to upset the people of the Huo Family over several ordinary guests.
"You’re being quite agreeable now, manager."
Qin Ruan’s words held a hint of mockery.
The manager laughed calmly, "I wouldn’t dare to delay Madam Huo’s affairs."
Smiling, with a glint in her eyes, Qin Ruan lightly quipped, "As usual, if we end up damaging anything in the club, we’ll compensate."
"Wait, Madam Huo, what are we about to do? I thought we were here to have fun?"
The manager was at a loss.
He had thought that Qin Ruan was planning to go upstairs to have fun with the youngsters.
Yet from Qin Ruan’s words, it seemed as if she were gearing up to cause an uproar again.
Even though she wasn’t taking issue with Yejue Club this time, the person she targeted was in the club.
At the thought of the troublemaker, Josh, Qin Ruan’s demeanor darkened, "I’m here to teach a life lesson to one of my children."
Her voice was heavy on the last few words, brimming with vague emotion.
She brushed past the club manager and walked straight out of the office.
Lin Hao trailed behind her. As he bypassed the manager and the child, he suddenly stopped and turned back.
He flashed the club manager a smile and said, "You saw Madam’s condition just now, right? If something happens upstairs later, it would be best not to disturb her. If she’s in a bad mood, it may affect those around her."
His unspoken message was clear - everyone would do well to keep their distance, whether or not they had business upstairs.
The manager grimaced at the ominous warning and conceded, "Alright, I’ll notify the waitstaff upstairs."
"Thanks."
A satisfied smile spread across Lin Hao’s stern face as he quickened his pace to catch up with Qin Ruan, who was already heading for the stairs.
Despite being pregnant, Qin Ruan moved swiftly and was soon on her way upstairs.
