Chapter 476: Chapter 476: Madam Huo, you can’t bully people like this
"Seeing the tense expression on Manager Wang, Qin Ruan didn’t bring up Josh, but pointed to his shoulder instead.
"Manager Wang, have you felt an unusual weight on your shoulders in recent years?"
"Huh?"
Manager Wang looked puzzled, not understanding her question.
Lin Hao, who had also walked into the office, was equally bemused by Qin Ruan’s question.
Their gaze fell on Qin Ruan.
Brushing back her hair casually, she said nonchalantly, "Manager Wang, if your child had been born successfully, he would be three years old now, right?"
Upon hearing this, Manager Wang blanched: "What do... what do you mean by that?"
Three years ago, his wife almost died with their unborn child during a difficult childbirth.
Hospitals don’t actually prioritize the baby over the mother like what we see in TV shows or movies, that’s just a joke.
In reality, if a pregnant woman is in distress during labor, and if the doctor chooses to prioritize the baby while the mother still has a chance of survival, the hospital and even the doctor can face legal liabilities.
Whether from the doctor’s perspective or the family’s, protecting the mother is their most crucial choice.
However, unless the mother is beyond saving, they will unconditionally focus on saving her first.
Back then, when Manager Wang was waiting outside the operating room, he was informed that the baby had not survived.
This didn’t scare him.
Although they lost their child, he and his wife could still have more in the future.
He and his wife were childhood sweethearts, and having been together since their school days, their countless ups and downs over the years had already made them inseparable.
When the doctor informed him that the baby couldn’t be saved, he felt great sorrow, distress, and regret.
Nevertheless, the subsequent flurry of medical alerts announcing his wife’s critical condition sent him spiralling into intense fear.
It was then that Manager Wang genuinely realized that childbirth was indeed like walking through the Ghost Gate.
Childbirth is highly risky for women. Even with today’s rapidly advancing medical technology, there are still unavoidable dangerous situations that can arise.
Even with today’s medical capabilities, women are still dying in childbirth every day.
Manager Wang had waited outside of the operating room for a day and night before finally receiving the news that his wife was out of danger.
Even now, thinking back to his emotional state at that time still makes him shudder.
Also, after that incident, he began to fear pregnant women and hence, he was traumatized by the childbirth experience.
Even if he didn’t have children for the rest of his life, he didn’t want his wife to experience the dangers of childbirth again.
Qin Ruan’s mention of his wife’s difficult childbirth three years ago, inevitably made Manager Wang think more about it.
His face was pale, his hands clutching the armrests of his chair tightly, his palms starting to sweat.
Manager Wang suppressed the anger rising within him, keeping his voice as calm as possible: "Madam Huo, I don’t know why you’re here. Yejue Club is the Su Family’s property, and I am an employee of the Su Family. If you’re threatening me using my family to make me do something for you, it’s not possible. The Su Family won’t let you bully people like this!"
The reason Manager Wang dared to say this was because of the protection he received from the Su family all these years at Yejue Club.
Otherwise, over the years, he wouldn’t have acted so arrogantly towards those who frequent Yejue Club, aside from the honored guests from the four major families and six aristocratic families.
Despite being misunderstood, Qin Ruan wasn’t angered, she just shook her head with a laugh: "I think you’ve misunderstood."
Pointing to Manager Wang’s shoulder she continued: "Your child hasn’t left you guys for three years now, he really likes you both. However, he must move on. If he doesn’t leave soon, he’ll miss his chance at reincarnation. He’s quite a cute child. I don’t want to see him dissipate into nothingness. You and your wife should find a way to help him move on. In doing so, you can somehow fulfill his wish of staying with you both for these three years."
Shaking slightly, Manager Wang didn’t understand what Qin Ruan meant.
He heard every word she said, but found the idea they represented unfamiliar.
After pondering for a moment, he came to a shocking conclusion that had never crossed his mind in the past three decades.
Manager Wang took two steps forward, his eyes wide with surprise as he stared fixedly at Qin Ruan: "What do you mean? What child? What are you talking about?!"
His body was shaking uncontrollably, desperate for an answer from Qin Ruan.
"I can say more, but seeing is believing." Qin Ruan stood up and beckoned to Manager Wang: "Come here."
Manager Wang remained unmoved, feeling inexplicably afraid of Qin Ruan.
This fear was not because she was pregnant, but due to the uncertainty and fear of the unknown.
Qin Ruan didn’t rush him, just gazed at him quietly.
Time ticked on.
It might have been five minutes, or perhaps ten minutes, but in the end, Manager Wang was unable to resist his curiosity.
He took heavy steps towards Qin Ruan.
She extended a slender finger and pointed it at Manager Wang’s forehead.
A faint golden light, invisible to the naked eye, wound around Qin Ruan’s fingertip, penetrating Manager Wang’s forehead.
The little child squatting on Manager Wang’s shoulder seemed to be afraid of the Nether Power, and slid down onto the floor, huddling at his feet.
Qin Ruan took back her hand, her chin slightly raised: "Just look down. Don’t be too emotional, the child won’t hurt you."
Manager Wang’s body stiffened as he slowly looked down.
What he saw was a cute child, shrouded in a soft white glow.
Upon seeing the child, the fear welling up within Manager Wang’s heart dissipated.
Tears welled up in his eyes and began to fall uncontrollably.
The little boy squatting by his feet was really well-behaved, tugging at his trouser leg with chubby little hands and looking up at him with expectant eyes.
The child’s eyes were clear and innocent, full of admiration.
Manager Wang put his hand over his mouth, his tears falling freely.
The child looked like a mix of him and his wife.
He had been imagining what his child might look like for three years, but he had never expected to meet him in this way.
Manager Wang was unable to control his sobbing, his breathing had even started to get difficult.
Qin Ruan stepped forward and took his hand away from his mouth so he could breathe.
"Uh..."
Manager Wang’s choked cries could no longer be held back.
Looking down at the child at his feet with tear-filled eyes, he let out mournful sobs.
Qin Ruan avoided looking directly at this anguished scene.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Lin Hao also staring at the child at Manager Wang’s feet, his face twisted in an eerie grimace.
Despite having seen apparitions many times, he still couldn’t face them calmly.
Qin Ruan asked Lin Hao: "Can you see the child?"
"Yes, I couldn’t see him when we first walked in. After a while, I could vaguely make out a figure, and now I can see him clearly."
Lin Hao crossed his arms and as he answered Qin Ruan’s question, he was gripping his arm tightly.
Seeing his actions, which seemed like a mix of nervousness and struggle, Qin Ruan couldn’t help but smile cryptically.
She couldn’t help but suspect that something was wrong with Lin Hao’s physical constitution.
If he could still see these apparitions after some time, he would probably be unable to get rid of this psychic constitution for the rest of his life.
Feeling Qin Ruan’s inexplicably sympathetic gaze, Lin Hao felt uncomfortable.
Frowning, he asked: "Why are you looking at me like that?"
