Chapter 388 Ruanruan: Serve me loyally, protect my child throughout his life
Chapter 388: Chapter 388 Ruanruan: Serve me loyally, protect my child throughout his life
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Qin Ruan’s lips as she said to them, "What I want is not much, just the allegiance of the Rasambo Family."
Donald’s face was filled with shock as he stared wide-eyed at Qin Ruan, as if looking at a monster.
A touch of surprise was also evident on Queen Mariana’s delicately beautiful, seductive face.
She couldn’t comprehend how she could awaken after years of slumber only to be expected to change the allegiance of the Rasambo Family.
It was common knowledge in the west that the Rasambo Family never pledged loyalty to humans, not even to the royal nobility.
Any force that tried to coerce their allegiance would be attacked by members of the Rasambo Family, who would actively launch campaigns to declare their contempt for humans.
They were the Blood Clan, synonymous with elegance and nobility, and took pride in not associating with humans.
Donald stared straight at Qin Ruan, his face ghastly pale and his blue eyes wide, "Are you joking?"
Qin Ruan spoke calmly, "I never joke."
Donald responded sarcastically, "Then you must be talking nonsense."
With a confident expression on her refined face, Qin Ruan retorted, "Donald, let’s not beat around the bush. Why would you destroy your own body and seek Nicholas to form a blood pact? Do I need to point it out?"
Donald narrowed his eyes and coldly retorted, "My body couldn’t handle the intense abilities, so I needed to rebuild it."
Qin Ruan subtly raised an eyebrow, "So you’re sure it’s not that you’re having the same issues as your mother?"
Donald’s lips tightened, rendering him unable to refute.
Qin Ruan swept her gaze over the other members of the Blood Clan standing behind Mariana and Donald, slowly speaking, "If my guess is right, it’s not just you from the Rasambo Family who has this problem."
Queen Mariana asked anxiously, "Do you know what’s causing it?"
Without anxiety, Qin Ruan shook her head, "I don’t know the cause. But I’m aware that if you had found a solution in the West, you wouldn’t be coming to me. For now, I am the only one who can help you."
Donald coldly refused, "I do not agree with the Rasambo Family pledging loyalty to you."
Unfazed, Qin Ruan let out a light chuckle, "It’s okay; it’s just a deal. If we can’t agree, then let’s pretend I never brought it up."
Donald glanced at his mother beside him and suggested to Qin Ruan, "You can come up with another offer."
His tone had softened considerably, sounding more negotiable.
But Qin Ruan rejected without hesitation, "Sorry, I disagree."
Her ruby lips curled into a smirk. Her refined features were slightly raised as she disdainfully measured Donald and Mariana, an aura of contempt for everything in the world radiating from her.
She had made her offer and they had refused.
So, she had every right to refuse their counteroffer in turn.
Queen Mariana peered at Qin Ruan with sharp eyes, asking, "The loyalty from the Rasambo Blood Clan you just mentioned, is there a time limit to it?"
Qin Ruan paused at that, she hadn’t thought about that before.
She thought of how Donald once used the child in her womb to threaten her and her husband, a dark gleam lit her eyes.
"Of course, there is." Qin Ruan’s face was lit with a smile as she addressed Mariana, "Perhaps you’re unaware that your son, Donald, once threatened me and my husband using the child yet to be born in my womb, all to save you."
Upon hearing these words, Queen Mariana shot her son a sidelong glance, "Donald?"
Donald promptly admitted his mistake, "I apologize, Mother. I was desperate to save you."
He had not expected Qin Ruan to hold a grudge; it made him grind his teeth in frustration.
Qin Ruan smiled as she continued, "He reminded me that my child is my dearest treasure; I can’t afford to risk any danger to him."
Mariana asked, "What do you mean?"
Qin Ruan’s meriment vanished from her eyes. Her delicate, palm-sized face remained expressionless as she declared in a solemn tone, "I want the entire Rasambo Blood Clan to pledge their loyalty to me, and submit to my child, to protect him for life."
Queen Mariana’s red lips hooked into a semblance of a smile, "It’s just two hundred years."
Donald blinked, catching on that things weren’t as they seemed.
If Qin Ruan and her child’s lives spanned a century each, that added up to only two hundred years.
The lifespan of humans nowadays amounted to around seventy to eighty years; certainly less when added up to two hundred years.
Sensing their attitudes softening, Qin Ruan brought a perfect smile up her face, "Yes, it’s only for a lifetime of my child. Considering the Rasambo Blood Clan’s potential longevity of thousands, even tens of thousands of years, it’s as if they’re only dedicating a blink of an eye."
"I agree to this deal!" Donald’s attitude shifted drastically as his face lit up with delight.
Qin Ruan’s lips formed a mysterious smile, her eyes flicked towards him with ambiguity.
Donald adopted a negotiable stance as he asked Qin Ruan, "Certainly, there are a few elders in our family whose bodies have also changed, can you help them too?"
Qin Ruan’s red lips parted slightly, "I can. But I prefer to resolve the root cause and eradicate it."
Donald asked, "Root cause?"
Qin Ruan nodded, "Tell me about the symptoms of you, your mother, and any other affected elders in your household?"
Donald revealed, "Their automatic bodily functions have become sluggish, their blood supply falls short of satisfying their hunger, their abilities during combat don’t amount to half their prime. If they keep deteriorating, they’ll either fall into a deep sleep like my mother or opt for time deprivation, to rebuild their body like I did."
Qin Ruan queried, "When did these symptoms first appear?"
Donald answered, "They started after my mother fell into her deep sleep."
Qin Ruan turned toward Mariana, "Madam Mariana, do you recall anything from before you fell into your deep sleep?"
Mariana nodded, "I do."
Qin Ruan asked, "Have you done anything particularly memorable or different lately?"
Queen Marina pressed a hand to her forehead, shaking her head. "I need to think."
"Of course."
Qin Ruan glanced down, continuing to play with Grandpa’s hand, making all kinds of gestures.
Eventually, she curled his thumb, index finger, ring finger, and pinky together, leaving only his middle finger extended.
This finger, as luck would have it, was pointing directly at Donald.
Nicholas, who had sauntered over out of boredom, burst into laughter at the sight.
He cleared his throat to suppress his amusement, his eyes curving as he looked at Qin Ruan with an intense sense of mirth.
Qin Ruan looked up, meeting his laughing eyes.
Nicholas gave her a thumbs up.
The pair shared a laugh, and Qin Ruan invited him to sit. "Young Master Nicholas, please sit. I forgot to ask, how is your sister?"
Nicholas replied casually, "She’s at home, pregnant."
Qin Ruan put on a sympathetic expression. "That must be boring."
Nicholas relaxed on the couch, leaning back. "She’s bored and throwing fits every day."
Qin Ruan seemed to sympathize. "Since she’s so bored, I’ll send her a big gift."
Nicholas was about to acknowledge it when he noticed Donald’s worried expression. He remembered Qin Ruan’s vindictive nature.
If he remembered right, initially he wanted to marry his sister to Grandpa to get rid of Donald’s meddling.
Would Qin Ruan’s big gift involve cutting a piece from his Bolin Family?
Nicholas couldn’t help but wonder and didn’t dare to respond to Qin Ruan.
Just because he didn’t respond didn’t mean that Qin Ruan would let this topic slide.
Qin Ruan grinned at Nicholas. "I know a male model who fits Leslie’s aesthetic. He’s tall and well-built, and able to withstand a lot. Why don’t you take him with you when you leave? It’ll help Leslie ward off boredom."
Nicholas quickly waved his hand, his blue eyes quivering. "No, no, she’s a vegetarian now."
Qin Ruan looked surprised. "Is Leslie a vegetarian? I thought she was a carnivore. I took special note of that."
At this point, Nicholas was sure Qin Ruan was settling old scores.
A bitter smile spread across his face. "Madam, I was wrong before. I shouldn’t have involved Grandpa. Please forget about it."
Qin Ruan rested her head on Grandpa’s shoulder, playful. "Well, one of my few virtues is a good memory."
Nicholas rubbed his face. "I was too presumptuous before. Leslie has decided to focus on her pregnancy. She really doesn’t have any designs on Grandpa."
Qin Ruan raised an eyebrow. "What about you?"
"Me?" Nicholas was slightly taken aback, then looked at the expressionless Grandpa.
The latter glanced at him, indifferent and cold.
Nicholas pursed his lips and waved at Qin Ruan. "I’m not after Grandpa either. I prefer sexy, passionate girls."
Donald, who was sitting on the side, looked coldly at Nicholas, a dangerous glint in his eyes.
He said to Qin Ruan, "Everything started because of the Rasambo Family. Madam, are you trying to drag the Bolin Family into this too?"
Qin Ruan laughed. "I’m not that ambitious. But life has been so boring lately. Plus, remembering how someone once used threats and incentives, I feel like there is a knot in my heart that I can’t relieve unless I address it."
Donald’s thin lips pressed into a line, his face thoughtful.
After a while, he said solemnly, "Nicholas is mine. You can do whatever you want with the others, but not him."
Qin Ruan quirked an eyebrow and smirked. "I wasn’t planning to, but now that you’ve said that... it makes me want to. What a predicament."
Donald frowned in anger. This woman was tricky.
Nicholas was crucial to Donald, especially before his physical reconstruction was complete. No accidents could befall him.
Even Queen Marina eyed Qin Ruan warily.
She understood how critical her son’s prey was to his survival.
The mother and son pair felt threatened, a icy stern aura surrounding them.
Grandpa fondly touched Qin Ruan’s earlobe. "Ruanruan, don’t misbehave."
Qin Ruan laughed, her laughter filled with joy.
She wiped the moisture from the corners of her eyes and quipped to Grandpa, "They’re too easy to tease, it feels wrong not to."
Nicholas relaxed upon realizing it was just a joke, slumping against the couch.
Donald and Queen Marina looked awkward in contrast.
Compared to Qin Ruan’s relaxed demeanor, they appeared overly serious.
Qin Ruan dried her tears and finally stopped playing with Grandpa’s hand. She sat up straight.
The laughter in her eyes faded, and she looked calmly at Queen Marina and Donald. "Have you found the reason yet?"
