Chapter 1230: Chapter 1230: Qin Ruan Searching for a Second Spring
Qin Ruan patted her daughter Anuan’s head, her face showing a worried expression.
Her red lips curved slightly, and in a soft voice, she said, "I’ve thought this through a long time ago. Having watched you all grow up, I have no regrets. The only thing I can’t let go of is you, my sister who only knows how to get into trouble every other day."
This daughter of hers, both in looks and in her fearless nature, took after her—it was truly a headache.
Qin Ruan tilted her head and spoke to her two sons in a serious voice, "From now on, Anuan will be in the care of you two brothers. Don’t spoil her too much, and if she makes mistakes, family punishment awaits."
"Mama!" Anuan, who had grown increasingly beautiful and exquisite, was now the spitting image of a young beauty, even more strikingly gorgeous than Qin Ruan had been in her day.
She complained with a full face, discontentedly shaking Qin Ruan’s arm as a protest.
Qin Ruan patted her hand and instructed, "Be good, and listen to your brothers from now on."
Over these years, she hadn’t concealed from her three children her constant plans to return to Feidu City in the Netherworld to find the Emperor.
Because her children were too young, she couldn’t just leave them behind. Now that Huo Yao and Huo Anqi were grown up, and Anuan was already sixteen, with all her assets in her name, even if she did nothing but eat, drink, and be merry every day, she would live out her life worry-free.
Qin Ruan held the dark red brocade box in her arms and slowly stood up, her figure as gracefully contoured as it had been when she was a young girl twenty years earlier.
She looked down at her three children with a delicate face that showed a kind and harmless smile, her voice uttering the softest threat, "I know you can contact the Netherworld. If I find out anyone has secretly sent word, be careful of my family punishment, and let him know what ’no escape from Hell’ means."
Anuan shivered and immediately raised her little hand, "I promise I won’t contact the Netherworld side for a while."
With a face of pure goodness, she looked so well-behaved and trustworthy.
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi also nodded along.
Qin Ruan smiled, waved at them, and said, "Children, I wish you all a pleasant journey through this bustling world, and I hope that when we meet again, you will have found life companions to walk with you."
Having finished her words, she turned and leisurely walked upstairs, unconcerned with her three children’s expressions, which were as if they had been force-fed dog food.
After watching Qin Ruan ascend the stairs, Huo Yao, Huo Anqi, and Anuan immediately looked at each other with a big change in their expressions.
The three siblings exchanged looks, their eyes revealing a solemn mood.
Anuan was the first to speak, "We absolutely can’t let mother leave at this time. Father is seriously injured from suppressing the Evil Puppet in Purgatory, and mother would be heartbroken if she saw him."
Huo Yao leaned back on the couch with a lazy posture, his hand touching his chin, a thoughtful look on his face, "We need to find a way to stop mother."
Huo Anqi said solemnly, "It’s going to be difficult, there’s not enough time. Mother will definitely leave after dark when the yin energy is strongest."
Anuan’s lively eyes flashed with a hint of fierceness, her voice clear and pleasing, "Then notify the Underworld King to shut the Gate of Hell!"
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi looked at their sister who was surrounded by a restless aura, knowing that the girl was getting impulsive again.
The two brothers reminded her in unison, "Family punishment!"
"Pah!" Anuan stuck out her tongue at them and huffed, "Anyway, we must delay mother now, or it will be difficult to explain to father.
If we have to offend one side, I choose to stand with father. After all, in this world, only father can make mother listen obediently."
It had to be said, Anuan’s words were hard to refute.
Yet Huo Yao and Huo Anqi still shook their heads at her. They would also think of a way to stop their mother, but such sneaky behavior was not quite right; they had promised not to send secret messages.
The issues between parents are not for others to interfere with, and the two brothers had also gone through ten cycles of reincarnation. Over the years, they had clearly seen all the hardships their mother had endured.
Anuan grew anxious, "Then you’ll just watch Mom be upset? I don’t want to see her cry anymore. I was ignorant as a child, but now that I’ve grown up, I realize how much she’s had to bear alone all these years.
If it weren’t for us still being in the Human Realm, she would have reunited with Father long ago. I’m not trying to stop Mom, but they simply can’t meet at this time.
Otherwise, Mom will definitely be upset. You both know how much she misses Father. How can you bear to let her be heartbroken and cry over Father’s severe injuries?"
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi showed hesitation, the scales in their hearts starting to tip.
Seeing this, Anuan pressed on, "We’re not stopping them from meeting forever, just delaying the time of their reunion until Father’s wounds are healed."
Eventually, under Anuan’s relentless persuasion, the two Crown Princes of the Huo Family nodded in agreement.
Because of Anuan’s divine assistance, that very night, when Qin Ruan’s soul left her body to go to the Netherworld’s Feidu City, she found the gate tightly closed, with not even a Yin Soldier in sight.
She stepped forward, wanting to break open the gate with her Nether Divine Power, and realized there was a barrier spell cast around, preventing her from even touching the gate of Feidu City.
Qin Ruan floated off the ground and turned to leave, her departing figure decisive and without regret.
There was not a hint of surprise on her face, instead, an air of lofty pride as if she had anticipated this exact outcome of failure.
In the old Huo residence, Qin Ruan—whose spirit had returned to her body—got up and immediately swept away the purposely placed retro lamp, glass cup, and other items on her bedside table with a wave of her hand.
A clattering sound ensued.
Qin Ruan shouted out the door, "Someone come!"
Huo Zhi, now middle-aged, opened the door and came in, surveying the room in disarray. She asked, "Madam?"
"Summon Huo Yao, Anqi, and Anuan here!" Qin Ruan ordered sternly, rising from her bed to head to the walk-in closet.
Huo Zhi, dressed in her training outfit, acknowledged the order and left.
Not long after, Huo Yao, Huo Anqi, and Anuan, all bleary-eyed and dressed in pajamas, walked into the bedroom.
Dressed in a tight skirt, with exquisite and glamorous makeup and a sensually dressed Qin Ruan came out slowly from the walk-in closet.
She stood in high heels, her voluptuous body curving beautifully, stunningly gorgeous.
The three children were instantly dazzled by her beauty, their eyes wide and faces full of disbelief as they stared at Qin Ruan.
Qin Ruan walked to the bedroom vanity, picked up a limited edition bag from some famous brand this year, leaned her slender waist against the table, and gave her children a cool look with her cold eyes. Her red lips parted slightly, "Talk, what mischief have you three been up to?"
The three children instinctively shook their heads.
Qin Ruan narrowed her eyes and smiled, a smile full of allure.
She stood up straight and said leisurely, "Very well, it doesn’t matter if you don’t admit it. I suddenly don’t feel like leaving the Human Realm now. However, the days ahead will be so lonely. I’ll go find some fun to pass the time—perhaps a puppy or a wolf dog as a companion. Won’t my days be wonderful then?"
With that, she picked up her handbag and walked away with a swaying gait.
As she passed her three children, a sneer escaped from between her red lips.
