Chapter 1174: The Terrifying Bloodline Suppression from the Father
Chapter 1174: Chapter 1174: The Terrifying Bloodline Suppression from the Father
Qin Mei clutched his chest, his delicate and handsome face showing an expression of both heartache and dilemma.
On one side was his beloved pet, on the other was his cute and extremely mischievous nephew; he really didn’t know how to balance the scales.
When Qin Ruan heard about the troubles the two youngsters had caused over the past few days, her face visibly darkened at a speed detectable by the naked eye, as a storm brewed furiously in her fox-like eyes.
Caught in difficult emotions, Qin Mei immediately sensed that his sister’s aura had shifted.
He looked up to see Qin Ruan’s complexion turn dreadful and, no matter how much he wanted to protect his two nephews, he decided to speak his mind.
After all, children’s education should start from a young age, and the Huo Family’s status was no excuse for their unruly behavior.
Qin Mei took his hand away from his chest and said in a calm voice, "After Xueqiu ran away from home, Ayao and Anqi started to tear the house apart. Have you noticed any changes in the living room?"
He pointed to the Qin Family’s newly transformed walls, and despite his efforts, his forehead twitched, "Did you notice the wall color has changed? The bookshelf that used to be in the corner is gone, and the carpet on the floor has been replaced. All thanks to Ayao and Anqi.
To prevent them from dismantling the house, I took them shopping the day before yesterday. On the street, we met some talent scouts who found the kids cute and inviting and invited them to shoot some messy stuff. The two were quite enthused and agreed on the spot; if I hadn’t stopped them, they might have been sold by now."
"Ruanruan, I really hadn’t anticipated that raising children would be this hard. This isn’t raising children; it’s like raising ancestors—it’s terrifying. I’ve decided I’ll never have kids in my entire life."
Having spoken from the heart, Qin Mei’s expression was a complicated mix of emotions.
Because of his two nephews, he had already developed a lifetime of trauma.
When Huo Yao and Huo Anqi were just born, how cute they were! Everyone loved them, and they were so well-behaved that it melted hearts.
During these days spent with them, he came to know how much trouble the two little guys could be—they were a super invincible source of trouble.
Qin Ruan leaned back on the couch, arms crossed, and lifted her eyelids to look at her two sons seated next to their uncle.
Hearing their little uncle tattling on them, the two youngsters were now clutching Qin Jingcen’s arms tightly for protection.
Qin Jingcen had a smile on his face and had no intention of interfering with his sister disciplining her children.
Qin Ruan’s usually gentle eyes had now turned sharp, even dangerous, "Ayao, Anqi, come here."
"Mommy, we know we were wrong."
Huo Yao was the first to admit fault, blinking his large eyes, full of charming appeal.
Unfortunately, Qin Ruan was unimpressed and repeated, "I said, come here!"
Her voice was stern, clearly running out of patience.
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi exchanged glances, then released their uncle’s sleeves and hand in hand walked up to Qin Ruan.
Qin Ruan, seated casually on the couch, the hint of a smile playing on her lips, spoke in a cold and commanding tone, "I’ll ask, you answer. If I find out you’re lying or hiding something, I’ll tell your father everything, and believe me, he will not be lenient in dealing with this matter himself."
The dread of their father’s formidable bloodline suppression changed the color of the two youngsters’ faces.
Huo Yao hurriedly responded, both well-behaved and cowering, "We promise to answer whatever you ask!"
Qin Ruan asked in a deep voice, "Why did you shave Teddy the pet dog clean of all its fur?"
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi exchanged a look again, their expressions becoming subtle.
It was unclear how they communicated with their glances, but this time, it was Huo Yao who answered the question.
"Mum, that puppy has Evil Qi on it. It must have encountered a newborn Puppet. Eliminating the source can protect its owner from being affected by Evil Qi."
This incident was discovered by Huo Anqi, and the decision to take action was the result of both brothers discussing it together.
The pet dog from the house next door they actually liked quite a bit. If they didn’t act, the little guy would lose its life to Evil Qi in a month’s time.
Upon hearing this, Qin Ruan raised her eyebrows, her expression indecipherable as to whether she was pleased or surprised.
She relaxed her arms from around her embrace, resting an arm on the armrest of the sofa, her tone as serious as ever, "Why did you use a gun in the restaurant? Don’t you know how dangerous that is?"
Huo Yao looked cautiously at Qin Ruan’s stern face and carefully replied, "It was an accident, Mum."
His words were said with a guilty conscience, clearly an attempt to sidestep the truth.
"Did you think I would believe that?" Qin Ruan laughed.
Huo Anqi frowned and responded, "Mum, we don’t want to answer that question, but it certainly wasn’t just for fun."
Qin Ruan nodded thoughtfully and continued, "Okay, it’s fine if you don’t want to answer. From now on, there won’t be any dangerous weapons around you guys."
"We can do that!" The brothers nodded in unison.
Qin Ruan’s slender, fair fingertips tapped gently on the sofa, "One last question. What’s this about Xueqiu running away from home?"
"It’s too cute, I couldn’t help myself."
"We wanted it to play with us."
Huo Yao and Huo Anqi replied at the same time, their answers almost identical.
Qin Mei heard their responses and thought that Xueqiu’s situation was similar to the neighbor’s pet dog.
Little did he expect that Xueqiu was actually the most innocent one.
The second son of the Qin Family held his forehead, his face full of distress, "No matter how much you like it, you shouldn’t have plucked its fur until it’s bald."
Huo Yao pouted, "But it isn’t bald yet."
Huo Anqi didn’t say anything, but his big eyes conveyed the same message as his brother.
In agony, Qin Mei covered his face and wailed, "You guys plucked out a third of its fur. Do you know that the little guy gets mad at me for days if I accidentally pluck out a single strand of its fur? It’s the type that can’t be appeased without ten or eight boxes of canned fish."
Qin Jingcen stood up, walked over to Huo Yao and Huo Anqi, ruffled their hair, and spoke gently to Qin Ruan, "Ayao and Anqi are different from ordinary kids. You and Third Uncle need to educate them with care in the future. They are too bold. If you don’t discipline them well now, you’re going to have a tough time later."
Qin Ruan’s facial expression softened quite a bit, and she nodded to her elder brother, "Got it. They’ve been living too comfortably. When I get back, I’ll tell Third Uncle to keep them busier and out of mischief."
Previously, Third Uncle said the two kids were very smart and let them take comprehensive lessons with a home teacher, even letting them sit in on company board meetings.
Qin Ruan had refused because of their age, but now she might mention it to Third Uncle.
She stood up, rubbing her slightly sore lower back, and addressed the sulking Qin Mei on the sofa, "Second Brother, I’ll have someone send over some cat food and dried meat later. Consider it an apology from those two rascals to Xueqiu."
Hearing this, Qin Mei quickly gestured with his hands, "No need, no need. We still don’t know if it will come back. If it doesn’t, it would just be a waste."
Qin Ruan narrowed her eyes and soothed with a smile, "It will come back; don’t worry. It’s your contract Cat Demon; it can’t leave you."
"Really?" Qin Mei’s eyes brightened.
Knowing how much he doted on Xueqiu, Qin Ruan spoke with certainty, "Really, it’s getting late. I’m going to take Ayao and Anqi now; we still have to pick up Third Uncle from the office."
