Chapter 529: Gate of the Past - Danacus’s Halls of the Dead (Two Chapters combined, 7000 words, only one update today)_3

Of course, without a doubt no one paid attention to his complaints. In fact, they were merely random grumblings to him. Given the physique of a demigod, after the isolation of the Aggression Shield, the temperature created by melting and then re-solidifying sand and gravel wouldn’t cause substantial harm.

At Kyle’s signal, the winged twins rose into the mid-air, guarding on either side of the dragon Mina, doing their best to shield her from enemy attacks. While most of the attacks from below were unable to affect a Demigod’s Shield, among the dense crowd of undead there were several powerful undead leaders of demigod strength. If they were allowed to continuously launch surprise attacks, it would eventually cause substantial damage to Mina. For someone of Mina’s physique, these injuries were not fatal, but accumulate enough of them and it would seriously affect her combat ability in the later stages. As such, Kyle quickly gave the command for the winged twins to block the majority of the attacks after Mina took flight.

Now free from the harassment of the enemies, Mina simply fully concentrated on clearing the path. Each time she finished exhaling a long burst of dragon breath, she would flap her wings and rise as high as she could towards the no-fly zone above. After reaching the peak and re-compressing her dragon breath, Mina would start to dive down, coordinated with Dillie’s charging speed. As she skimmed the ground, she spat out flames, leaving in her wake a high-temperature zone extending hundreds of meters. Nothing undead could be seen within that zone.

Dillie continued to loudly complain while maintaining his running speed, to avoid wasting even a meter of the path carved out by Dragon Mina. Whenever Mina was reascending and compressing her dragon breath, if Dillie got too close to the enemies in front of him, there would be allies launching long-range attacks from his back to break through them head-on. Whether it was a carpet bombing of thousands of crystal spears and energy bullets or a rain of arrows as beautiful as a flurry of falling flowers, or even various sizes of Vacuum Slashes, the backup from the rear could always timely clear the path ahead and ensure Dillie’s charge remained unhindered.

Among those participating in this perilous operation, some did not have a long history of cooperation, some hadn’t even met before – their knowledge of each other was limited to names heard. However, under Kyle’s coordination, these first-time collaborators worked quite smoothly together, as if they had been cooperating for years. This was not only due to Kyle’s exceptional leadership skills, but also due to everyone’s trust in him. Each person was willing to unconditionally fulfil his commands, no matter how baffling they were, because everyone believed in one thing: as long as they could successfully execute the orders, Kyle would handle the rest. There was no need to worry. Everyone knew that the perfect Kyle never made mistakes, never was at a loss, and could perfectly handle anything and repeatedly achieve victory.

As the facts showed, they were not let down this time by the perfect Kyle. He never disappointed his teammates. When the fighting dragon Mina suggested she wanted Nellie to begin the charge, a perfect plan had already formed in Kyle’s mind. So far, every step of this plan has been precise and efficient, without a single flaw. In this desert filled with Undead, on this land theoretically fraught with danger, the group was advancing steadily against the attacking Undead. Using just an hour, advancing more than twenty kilometers on the path paved with white bones and flames, the initially barely visible temple was now getting closer. Only ten kilometers away, the sharper-eyed members of various races could already make out the outline of the temple.

"Lady Mina," Kyle gestured to Christo, who very cooperatively cast the Illusion Sound Technique, amplifying Kyle’s voice many times over, "Lady Mina, please take a break and try not to consume too much strength and energy. You’re the strongest among us and we’ll need your help in the battles to come. Don’t worry, we’ll cover the remaining distance. Give us a chance to perform. We can’t just watch you perform alone."

Mina was indeed a little tired. When she suggested Catherine start the charge, she hadn’t considered the pressure of the battle would be so huge. The numbers of Undead of the demigod rank below were steadily increasing, and the threat they posed was stepping up synchronously. Even with the protection of the Winged sisters, the number of injuries on Mina’s body was increasing at a rapid pace. A respectable number of attacks had bypassed her scale defenses, tearing open her muscular physique and causing blood to flow continuously from her wounds. In addition, alongside withstand attacks, Mina also had to continuously execute dive attacks and fire breaths. If it was ordinary fire breaths, she could probably continue for a whole day without feeling exhausted. But in order to achieve the desired effect, she had to highly compress the fire breath each time. The depletion of stamina and energy from this process was simply unimaginable for ordinary beings.

So, under the combined pressure of both situations, Mina already found it somewhat strenuous maintaining her fire breath attacks. But it was Mina herself who, despite Pannis’s objections, suggested the charge. Therefore, even if it was laborious, the Dragons’ pride compelled her to keep going and make it to the temple without showing any signs of strain. Just as she was thinking this, Kyle’s timely voice came through. Mina did not know if Kyle had noticed her strain, but his words skillfully avoided any comment about her current state. He tactfully used the pretense of conserving energy for the fights to come to request Mina to rest, and even brought up the excuse of giving others a chance to perform, making it impossible for Mina to refuse, without impinging on her self-esteem.
