Chapter 511: Chapter 75: Freya’s Moving Fortress_1

It didn’t take ten minutes. After seven minutes, with a shout from Freya, Catherine dispelled the phantom legion she had been straining to maintain. If the controlled Sea Race could retain their consciousness, they would have been greatly surprised at this moment because a silver metallic fortress had appeared before their eyes.

This was a hemispherical fortress of about seventh meters in radius. The fortress looked like a bowl placed upside down on the ground, but upon closer inspection, it was not a smooth spherical surface, but composed of countless hexagonal metal blocks. Surrounding the fortress, there were twenty firing holes on the metallic walls, facing all directions, including directly above the fortress. Each hole was equipped with a crystal gun. Gun barrels and firing holes fit tightly and slightly recessed into the fortress wall, making it difficult to directly attack the barrels. At the top third of the fortress, there was a grating encircling the entire fortress. Through these small and densely arranged grids, those inside could observe external conditions but couldn’t be attacked directly from the outside.

Around five centimeters outside the metallic fortress, a magical barrier shimmered with a faint purple light. Energy streams snapped and buzzed across the barrier from time to time, confined to the surface of the barrier and never interfering with the metallic fortress below. The magical barrier had the same hemispherical shape and overlapped the base of the fortress, being slightly wider in other parts than the surface of the fortress. Apart from the energy streams flowing over the surface of the barrier, one could hardly detect any magical fluctuation from it, making it difficult to guess its purpose.

In the eyes of the controlled Sea Race, this defensive location seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, but in actuality, it was the strongest defensive position set up by the three girls working together.

As soon as Catherine deployed the circular defensive formation, Lina quickly scanned the area to confirm the absence of the target. She then cast a Divine Spell to flatten and strengthen the ground. After the ground was leveled, Vivian glanced around and said softly, "A radius of seven meters, a circular range."

"Understood." Freya raised her thumb and threw a large backpack from her back to the ground. Freya’s backpack was the same style as Vivian’s but larger. It was a gift from Vivian when she returned to the adventure team. It too had eight times the inner space and was embedded with a weight-reducing Array. Even so, when the backpack hit the ground, a heavy thud could be heard. Throwing down the backpack, Freya felt significantly lighter and couldn’t help but stretch her shoulders to adjust.

"Um, the only advantage of your weight gain." Lina casually cast a Stoneskin spell on Catherine, enhancing her defense for a short period. Covering her mouth and giggling, she ’whispered’, "In the past, I’m afraid you couldn’t move such a heavy object."

"Shut up," Freya rolled her eyes and said, "Don’t stand idle, you also have some of my parts in your backpack. Hurry up and take them out."

"Those heavy metal pieces that could kill?" Lina said while opening the backpack, "They were too heavy, so I left them at home."

"Stop blabbering," Freya said annoyedly, "If you don’t stop, don’t cry when Sister gives you a beating later."

"Here you go." Even though Lina was joking, her hands were swift. She pulled out five or six irregular metal polyhedrons of different sizes from her backpack and tossed them on the ground at Freya’s signal. Freya was doing the same, constantly pulling out polyhedrons of various sizes from her backpack. In an instant, metal pieces were scattered all over the ground. All of the pieces had silvery exteriors, flashing with cold metallic luster.

"Are these all goblin metals?" Vivian, as a scholar herself, was the most sensitive. She recognized the astonishing nature of the metals Freya had taken out with one glance. Her eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets, "You can use goblin metal now?"

"You really do not understand mechanics. I didn’t expect the genius touted as the most astounding in a millennium to show this side." While arranging the metal pieces on the ground at a blinding speed, Freya couldn’t help but tease, "These are just various parts assembled from the materials I found in our teacher’s warehouse. As long as one understands machinery, this kind of assembly is not difficult. The challenge lies in the collection and matching of the parts. Sometimes, even a discrepancy of a millimeter is unacceptable. Are you done on your side?"

"Waiting for you." Vivian was holding a one-meter diameter Mithril metal disc in her hand. She was controlling more than ten magic engraving knives with magic threads from the Puppet Control Spell, having already circled out a rough circular area on the ground, "I can adjust according to your three-dimensional range. Don’t worry, I’m sure I’m faster than you. You can start as soon as you’re ready."

"I’ll start then." Freya nodded, her fingers started to dance in the air as if playing a piano. The metal pieces on the ground began to change following the movements of her fingers. Each piece of metal unfolded layer by layer like a blossoming bud. Under Freya’s control, pieces of metal floated into the air, swirling around the circular space with a seven-meter radius. Their flight paths crisscrossed each other, but they never collided in the air.

Soon, some metal pieces unfolded into sturdy metal plates, linking and forming a base around the bottom of the circular area on the ground. Underneath the metal plates, threaded metal drills dug deep into the flat ground, firmly securing the base. After the base was completed, Freya’s fingers danced faster and more frequently. Metallic pieces filled the air, constantly changing their positions and shapes, making one’s eyes spin. The clicking sounds coming out were the lock-on sounds made when the metal components were connected and fit together. The base began to extend upwards slowly, the metal walls gradually increasing in height. Gazing at these silver walls, one could distinctly notice their rising.

"So it’s constructed as a hemisphere according to this curvature?" Vivian took a moment before asking, "There are no other special modifications, right?"

Freya simply shook her head. It was a critical moment in her manipulation, and she couldn’t afford to be distracted.

"Alright, it’s my turn now," Vivian nodded, placing the metal disc in the center of the circular area. She stepped onto the disc and began whispering a lengthy incantation. An indistinct, purple halo appeared beneath her feet, expanding outward until it reached a radius of seven meters before stopping. The seals on her hands changed again, and the interior of the halo began to reveal crossed purple lines. As the number of lines increased, upon closer inspection, the lengths and positions of all lines were in perfect harmony with those on the Mithril disc beneath Vivian’s feet. The intricate pattern of lines made the circular Magic Array more and more prominent. Just as the purple-light Magic Array almost resembled its real version, Vivian stomped forcefully. The illusory purple Array suddenly imprinted onto the smooth ground - changing from intangible light to tangible patterns.

Vivian retracted the Mithril disc, sitting cross-legged at the center of the Array. She opened a small leather bag in front of her, took out a Crystal worth three thousand Tael in her left hand, slapped the ground with her right hand and growled, "Vivian mode, emulation, Elemental Barrier."

The Magic Array, transmuted into tangible patterns, glowed once again as Vivian slapped the ground. An abrupt, purple, semi-spherical Shield appeared and enveloped the space around the young girls. At the same time, Freya’s project was also nearing completion. The overhead open space was shrinking. When the final few rattles were heard, the last metal piece fell into place, blocking the only remaining open-air space. The girls found themselves in a fully enclosed space, the only connections with the outside world being several grid-like openings.

Freya, whose face had been tense since the beginning of the work, now beamed her usual gentle and elegant smile. Her paused fingers waved lightly again, and after several sounds, twenty shooting holes appeared on the fortress. Twenty Crystal energy guns, which had been prepared in advance, automatically floated up and under Freya’s remote control, each inserted itself into a shooting hole.

"It’s done," Freya dusted off her nonexistent dust from her hands and smiled, "Absolutely solid defensive fortress."

"But, um, I have another question," Lina blinked, playing with the silver hair on her shoulder and asked uncertainly, "Did you forget something?"

"Forget?" Freya looked around the fortress, assuring that she hadn’t forgotten any components. She asked, bewildered, "What would I have missed?"

"Don’t you think we are one person short?" Lina asked, "Are we going to have our older sister crawl in from underneath?"

"Ha, don’t worry, this fortress belongs to me. Everything inside and outside the fortress is under my control." Freya smiled, clapped her hands lightly, and a metallic closing sound was heard again. A section of the fortress wall suddenly retracted into the walls on both sides, forming an entrance tall enough for a person. Seizing the opportunity, Freya called out, "Elder sister, we’re done. You have consumed too much energy, come in and rest. Rest assured, we’ll be safe here. There is nothing to be afraid of."

Outside, Catherine, who was panting and perspiring profusely, glanced back and leaped into the fortress entrance, canceling her Legion skills. Freya clapped her hands again, the walls around the entrance extended again, thoroughly blocking the entrance.

It wasn’t until the entrance was sealed that Catherine let out a heavy breath. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, she looked around the interior of the fortress. The interior was just as smooth metal as the exterior, without any conspicuous complex machinery. Clearly, the components were all filled between the outer and inner layers. The inner metal walls were silvery-white and made of goblin metal, giving a sense of reliability.

"Welcome," like a hospitable host, Freya gave Catherine an elegant and ladylike curtsy, "Welcome to Freya’s Mobile Fortress."

Accompanied by Freya’s welcome, there were sounds of energy blasts and bombings from the outside. But, apart from the unexpected screams from the controlled Sea Race, there was no sign of shaking inside the fortress. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it at qidian.com.
