Chapter 502: Chapter 66 - Sea Floating Bridge_1

Crystal bottles arced through the sky, accurately landing at the predetermined spots. Each time a crystal bottle hit the sea water, Vivian would wave her finger and the bottle would burst open. The bluish liquid from the broken crystal bottle sprayed out and floated on the surface of the sea, spreading out evenly like a thin film, yet it did not mix with the seawater.

Many members of the Sea Race patrolled under the sea surface, but most of them ignored the shattered bottles and the blue film. Only a few with higher intelligence would swim over to investigate. But when they found that it was just an unknown liquid rather than an intruder, they would immediately turn away, disregarding the situation here.

"Excellent." Mr. Pannis clenched his fist and murmured, "Just as expected, non-sentient beings won’t react much. This makes things easier."

Vivian held her magic staff in front of her chest, the hefty end aimed at the sea. With a slight shake of the staff end, the blue liquid spread out evenly on the sea surface.

"I’m starting now." Vivian, sitting cross-legged on the icy surface, stopped waving her staff. Her hands formed different signs, her lips moved rapidly, uttering words too fast to distinguish. Her hands were as nimble as two magic swallows, fluttering up and down so quickly that anyone could barely see their real bodies but only the traces they left behind. Each movement of Vivian’s fingers represented a magical sign. Those around her, except Master Catherine, had a certain sense of mana. They could clearly feel the large amount of mana fluctuating in the sea, gathering on Vivian through the Array, then being rapidly dispersed by her to the blue liquid film on the icy surface.

The blue liquid chosen by Vivian had a strong enhanced characteristic of Ice-attribute energy. It could significantly increase the power of Ice-attribute magic. Just floating on the surface of the sea, it gave off a bone-chilling cold. The moment Vivian’s magic covered it, the sea surface covered by the liquid froze instantly. Furthermore, the frozen area expanded visibly to both sides, quickly forming a fifteen to twenty meters wide ice raft. Thanks to the thorough preparatory work, streaks of blue liquid slowly spread and finally connected in a straight line, stretching from the icy surface where the adventure team was located all the way to the edge of the shore. Thanks to the efficient nature of Vivian’s spellcasting, the frozen sections extended forward smoothly, leveraging the interconnected blue liquid. The twenty-meter-wide floating ice bridge expanded little by little along the pre-established path, seeming to grow longer and steadier before their eyes.

"Vivian’s spellcasting capability has improved immensely." Despite not needing to do so, Master Catherine was still standing behind Vivian, holding her shield guardedly. Looking at the forming ice bridge, Master Catherine couldn’t help but exclaim, "A few months ago, we wouldn’t even dare to think about creating an ice bridge over the sea out of thin air. But in just a few short months, she’s reached a level where she can be called a master. It feels rather surreal."

"Is she the only one? Master Catherine." Mr. Pannis teased with a smirk, "Don’t forget that all of you are Masters. Even in human nations, the Emperor of Falar or the Speaker of Neville would have to address you respectfully."

"That makes it even more surreal." Master Catherine shook her head, "Sometimes I really worry, afraid to wake up and find out that it’s still that rainy night, that I’m still lying in the foreign mansion, and that these past years were only a dream. If that were the case, I think I would collapse. I wouldn’t want these wonderful years to be just a phantom."

"Freya, help." Vivian suddenly opened her eyes and shouted aloud.

When the floating ice bridge extended to about two hundred meters, its progress suddenly slowed. Due to the ebb tide, two patches of blue liquid failed to successfully connect, leaving a gap of about thirty centimeters. And it was this thirty-centimeter gap that caused the slow progress. After all, two hundred meters was a great distance. It was too difficult to freeze water without the enhancement medium, so Vivian decisively asked for help.

Freya, who had been watching from the side, had noticed this problem early on and had prepared in advance. As soon as Vivian spoke, she gave a thumbs-up, smiled and said, "No problem, leave it to me."

She didn’t make any large movements, but just casually threw out a cuboid object about thirty centimeters long. After the cuboid landed on the ice, it started to change shape automatically. Three metal rods sprung out from the middle part toward the bottom and extended to a length of two meters. Their sharp tips deeply pierced into the ice, lifting and steadily anchoring the cuboid in place. At the same time, a hemisphere-shaped groove opened up on the top of the cuboid and ran through the entire top. Freya pulled out a Crystal Energy gun with an arm-thick inner diameter, set the gun barrel in the groove of the cuboid, and after several minor metallic ticking sounds, the barrel and cuboid were tightly fixed together, as if they were parts of the same body.

She smiled satisfactorily, adjusted the cuboid so the gun barrel was aimed up into the air, then lay flat on the icy surface with a pained face enduring the cold. She turned the barrel a few times, pressed a few buttons, and took a quick aim at the sky before activating the Array in the gun. The booming sound echoed through the air, and everyone around felt a slight tremor beneath their feet. A blue energy bullet was shot out of the barrel at a slow pace, as if thrown by hand. It drew a perfect parabolic trajectory in the air, crossed the distance of more than two hundred meters, and accurately fell into the blank space between the blue liquid and the floating ice bridge. The energy bullet hit the water and instantly triggered a violent eruption of frost energy. The once potent energy bullet, which could freeze a medium-sized golden magical beast solid, exerted its power once more. The explosive energy instantly froze the seawater in the blank space.

Vivian had been prepared for a long time and took advantage of this opportunity to quickly increase the energy output. Relying on Freya’s frost magic to form an icy surface, she stacked the effects of her magic on it, overcoming the blank space. Soon, the sea surface frozen by Freya was also covered by Vivian’s floating ice bridge, and the expansion speed of the ice bridge returned to normal, continuing to advance towards the shore.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Freya noticed Pannis’s gaze was fixated on her. She shyly adjusted her posture, causing her rather plump skin to ripple. Noticing this herself, Freya’s mouth twitched, and she stood up from the ice, opening her arms to say, "Mr. Pannis, are you ready to accept my marriage proposal? Great, when we get back to the Holy City, let’s have our wedding under the witness of Lord Weston."

"Oh, quit messing around," Catherine glared at her angrily, "If you disrupt Vivian’s casting, you’re swimming there yourself."

"Ugh, big sis, you’re becoming a bully. It was Mr. Pannis who kept staring at me like he wanted to accept my love," Freya hung her head in feigned despair, all while surreptitiously taking a sweet out of her pocket and attempting to pop it into her mouth. But how could such a movement escape the notice of Catherine, a high-ranking professional in physics? Catherine smacked the candy out of Freya’s hand, pinched the fat on her waist, and gave her a disdainful look that said, "Just look at your figure," before turning away to ignore her.

"Actually, I was fascinated by your Crystal Energy gun," Pannis had to break the awkwardness, "It’s quite special. I recall you were Christo’s student, right?"

"Yes, it was the only way," when it came to her weapon, Freya became serious, "My Master is an Illusionist, who transforms fakes into reality. A Crystal Energy gun in his hands can have the effect of hundreds of such guns. But I’m a mechanic, I can’t follow my master’s path and he doesn’t expect me to. He wanted me to find my own way. So I thought, if I can’t change the quantity, then I’ll change the intensity, and that’s why I made this gun myself. It’s tailored to me; nobody else can use it. Using my mana to power the gun, just like my master’s style, the crystals simply assist. The crystals concentrate the mana I provide so it can shoot out as an energy bullet. The more destruction my mana could cause, the greater the power of the gun. My teacher told me that gunners above the rank of Legendary all use this type of method."

"Indeed, much like him," Pannis nodded, "Given enough time, you might become one of the few Demigod gunners."

"That would be wonderful," Freya’s brilliant smile made people overlook her round face, "If that day comes, I will definitely mock my father. He always told me things like Crystal Energy gunners have no future and choosing to be one would prevent me from ever becoming top tier."

"Actually, when you advanced to Legendary rank, you already broke his argument," Pannis said, "It’s common knowledge that Crystal Energy gunners rarely have the chance to break out of the barrier between Gold and Legendary. But you’ve done it so you can mock Odin now."

"If I happen to reach the peak," Freya said, "Mocking him at that time will be more convincing."

Pannis shook his head with a bitter smile and didn’t participate further in this long-distance father-daughter interaction.

"The bridge is almost ready," Catherine interrupted their conversation, "Both of you start getting your gear and clothes on. Seems like we won’t have to swim anymore. Also, Lina, Lina, you..."

Turning her head, Catherine discovered that Lina had spread a blanket on the edge of the floating ice, was sitting comfortably with her feet soaking in the water, and was engrossed in the book she was reading under the setting sun, so much so that she hadn’t heard Catherine’s call.

"Lina!" Catherine raised her voice and shouted, "Stop reading."

"Huh? What? What happened?" Lina hurriedly put her book in a waterproof bag, looked around anxiously and said, "What’s going on? Are we ready to go?"

"Get dressed," Catherine drooped her shoulders, groaned and said, "You should get ready now." (To be continued. If you liked this piece, please cast your vote of recommendation, monthly tickets, and show your support on Qidian.com. For mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
