Chapter 501: Chapter 65 Operation Ice Seal_1

"Master Vivian." Vivian’s eyes squinted in laughter, "Almost forgot, I have indeed become a Legendary Rank professional who can be called a master. I get what you mean, indeed, after upgrading to Legendary Rank, our perspective should broaden, many things that were previously impossible now can be done, and there are more tactics available."

"What have you thought up?" Catherine asked in surprise, "Can it solve the current predicament?"

"Of course." Vivian nodded, a confident smile on her face, "Having been promoted to Legendary Rank, being a Mage is completely different from before. Now, there’s so much I can do. For example... freezing the sea surface."

The girls raised their eyebrows in unison. Freya spoke thoughtfully, "The safety distance of the defense circle is at least 500 meters from the edge of the deserted island. If you want to freeze the sea, you’ll have to freeze the sea water across 500 meters. That’s no easy task. And don’t forget, this is seawater, not freshwater. Freezing it is much more difficult than freezing freshwater."

"I know all of this," Vivian grinned, "Alone, I may not be able to freeze such a large area of the sea. But I have you with me. With your help, we can freeze the sea surface. It’s not a problem."

"Then we’ll be ready to cooperate at any moment," Catherine said, intrigued, "Let’s see how you plan to do it."

"First off, I need a piece of land." Vivian took out her magic staff and pointed at the sea next to her, "Let there be a stable foothold, and behold, an ice layer appeared."

With Vivian’s motion, a burst of cold air exploded from the surface of the sea. The rest of the group felt the water’s temperature drop to its limit in an instant. The water, previously rippling, became suddenly still. The thaw and shatter of ice resounded from where the sea froze, fragile ice emerging only to be shattered and swallowed up by the water. But the dropping temperature made more and more ice appear, bigger and bigger chunks forming an ice layer covering about twenty square meters. Vivian didn’t retract her staff right away; instead, she continued to release Ice-attribute mana to sustain the magic effect, causing the surrounding seawater to freeze with the ice layer as a foundation, making the ice layer grow increasingly thick and wide. When the ice layer finally reached near one meter thick and exceeded thirty square meters, Vivian exhaled slowly, gradually retracted her staff, and made an inviting gesture to everyone, "Welcome to Master Vivian’s sea villa. I hope everyone enjoys the atmosphere."

"Silly Vivian, this can only count as the foundation of a villa at most," Lina smirked, deliberately teasing, "Or are you saying that your villa is a unique open-air style? That really would be unique."

"Idiot Lina, be careful or I won’t allow you in," Vivian grinned at Lina sarcastically, "This is my territory, and I have the liberty to refuse you entrance, hmm."

"You dork, have you not heard of trespassing?" Lina let out a smug laugh, pressed her hands against the edge of the ice layer floating at the sea surface, leapt up, and then slipped back into the water because of the slippery ice surface.

"Ha, this is divine retribution," Vivian was laughing so hard she couldn’t get up from the water and pointed at the flushed Lina, "You deserve it, for mocking me. Even the ice can’t tolerate you, ha-ha, which makes you the real fool."

Catherine massaged her temples, sighed deeply, and ignored the two bickering fools. She sprang herself out of the water onto the ice layer as if she were a fish. Stepping onto the ice, Catherine could not help but frown. Although being at a high rank increased resistance to heat and cold, standing on the ice was uncomfortable. Catherine shook her head and used her one-handed sword to mark the edge of the ice to prevent slipping. Once that was done, she squatted on the edge, pulling the others up from the water one by one.

Once on the ice, everyone performed similar actions, swiftly pulling out towels from their waterproof pouches to dry themselves, exchanging their current shoes for ordinary shoes, shielding their bare skin under thin outerwear.

"Are you sure it’s okay for us not to be in the water to support it?" Pannis asked worriedly, "Aren’t you afraid the ice will drift aimlessly without anyone controlling it? Although there are no waves and the sea is calm, it’s ebbing tide now. The ice will drift away."

"It’s okay, no need to worry," Vivian reassured, "I’ve calculated the tides. The ebbing tide isn’t strong and won’t affect such a large chunk of ice too much. By the time the tide does get strong, we should already have connected the ice to the other shore."

"Good, as long as you’ve calculated it out." Pannis nodded, "We look forward to your performance."

"So, the first thing to be done is set up the rooms." Unlike the others who just put on their outerwear, Vivian neatly dressed in her entire blue work dress and adeptly got a mithril engraver out of the pocket, carpeting on the ground to carve an array.

"Will that really be enough?" Catherine whispered to Pannis with some apprehension, "Even if the ice is thick, it won’t be able to block the Sea Race’s attacks. If we get caught in a tough battle from being discovered, wouldn’t that render the line of ice pointless?"

"Remember when we were under the sea?" Pannis replied, "We hid behind the reef, used the reef as cover to maneuver around, and evaded a patrol. You remember, right?"

"Ah, right, I remember now," Catherine slapped her palm, realizing something suddenly, "Back then, the controlled Sea Race patrol team was only three or four meters away from us, but they were unable to detect us behind an opaque barrier."

"Yes, it depends on this feature." Pannis nodded, "As long as the ice layer is thick enough to block the vision of the Sea Race underwater, we can act as if they don’t exist. As for the Sea Race on the shore, due to their racial characteristics, their numbers are significantly smaller and there are many gaps that we can bypass. This significantly reduces the difficulty of sneaking in, making our mission much easier."

"Freya, I need some assistance." Vivian raised her head from her work, "Can you help me map out this array using Mithril solution? And this one, using Extract of Vulture Flower."

"Vulture Flower boost? Can you handle it?" Freya’s eyes widened, "That stuff has quite an impact on the mana channel, doesn’t it?"

"Don’t worry." Vivian glanced at Pannis, "The crystal energy extraction technique I learned from Pannis, a method specific to Array Inscription Masters, extracts the energy directly from the crystal, which has a larger impact on the mana channel than the Vulture Flower. I’ve already gotten used to it, so using the Vulture Flower boost is no problem at all, I don’t feel a thing."

"Just be careful," Freya expressed some doubt but crawled beside Vivian to help. Taking out two small containers, she started to inscribe the array that Vivian had carved.

About ten minutes later, they both stood up almost at the same time, having completed their inscriptions. As expected, the ice layer was floating back and forth without straying too far from the shore. Vivian sat down at the center of the array and once again took out over twenty blue crystal bottles, shared a few with Catherine and Pannis, and pointed towards the shore, "Big sis, you start by throwing these bottles every ten meters. I remember your accuracy with throwing weapons is pretty good. Five bottles over sixty meters should be fine, right?"

"Of course, leave it to me." Catherine nodded, "Shall I start now?"

"Wait a moment." Vivian turned to Pannis and asked, "Did you bring your bow and arrows?"

"Of course." Pannis took a backpack out of his waterproof band, "A four-fold capacity bag isn’t really large but it’s enough to fit a short bow. How should I shoot?"

"Tie a bottle to each arrow. After Catherine finishes throwing, starting from sixty meters, place one every thirty meters, no, every forty meters. Up to four hundred meters, can you do it?"

"The range isn’t enough, that would require a long bow. I can’t possibly learn the skill to increase the range," Pannis shook his head, "With a short bow, even if it’s a strong bow, the limit for throwing is up to three hundred meters. Beyond that, accuracy can’t be guaranteed."

"Leave the rest to me," Freya released those disk-shaped metal puppets again, "There’s no problem with my puppet control distance, and as for the quantity, let me calculate...yes, it will work, it can extend all the way to the beach."

"That’s great," Vivian stated happily, "Once you’re ready, release the bottles in order, then it will be time for Vivian’s solo show."

"But, why are the distances different?" Catherine asked, "It starts with ten meters, then it becomes forty meters. Is that alright?"

"It’s fine, the ten meters at the beginning is because that’s the area where my magic will impact first," Vivian explained, "The time is too short and the spread range is slightly smaller. As for the latter part, the Potion has enough time to disperse."

"Alright, when do we start?" Catherine asked.

"Are you all ready?" After seeing Pannis tie the small bottles to the arrows and fix the bottles onto Freya’s disk-shaped puppets, Vivian asked, "Big sis, you can start anytime once you’re ready."

"Then, Operation Ice Seal officially begins." Catherine threw the crystal bottle in her hand with force. (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to qidian.com to vote and support, your encouragement is my biggest motivation. Mobile users please read on m.qidian.com.)
