Chapter 401: Chapter 27 Continuous Breakthrough_1

Five Silver Wolves, like a silver arrowhead, violently plunged into the masses of white bones. The formation composed of hundreds of skeletons had significant depth, but it still couldn’t stop the charge of the Silver Wolves. Under the fierce impact, skeletons were sent flying in droves; some shattered mid-air, falling to the ground in fragments, while others, still intact, couldn’t reenter the attack in time. The Silver Wolves swept past the skeletons like a gust of wind on the plains, not pausing for a moment.

"Haha, this feeling is incredible," Catherine, riding atop a wolf, shouted loudly against the oncoming gale, "This is a true knight’s battle, a true knight’s joy."

"Then let’s go faster." Pannis patted the Silver Wolf’s neck, and it accelerated again, quickly catching up to Catherine and riding alongside her, "From now on, I guess we won’t have time to rest. The Undead won’t give us an opportunity to set up camp and magic arrays, so we can only continue forward, aiming to solve the problem before we are utterly exhausted."

"And preferably not drag into the night." Lina and Marcia also caught up. Lina covered her mouth to shield from the wind, "Without the sunlight, the combat prowess of the Undead will significantly increase. Although it won’t quite reach a rank upgrade, it is not to be underestimated. If we face this scale of Undead at that time, charging past won’t be so straightforward."

"So you’re saying, we only have seven or eight hours to solve the problem?" Catherine gave it some thought, then suddenly struck her shield heavily with her sword, "That’s more than enough. Maintain our speed, continue the charge following me. Marcia, guide the direction."

"Head east along the foot of the mountain." Marcia lifted her heavy sword and pointed eastwards, "Since we have mounts, we don’t need to take the narrow paths like I did before. Just walk straight along the plain, directly around Ghost Cry Mountain, this way we can be much faster."

"Ghost Cry Mountain?" Catherine, swinging her shield to dispatch a skeleton, asked with some confusion, "Given it’s the ancestral graveyard of these Beastman tribes, why does it have such an eerie name? Was it renamed in the recent few decades?"

"It wasn’t renamed." Marcia shook her head, "But I don’t know why, this name has been passed down for thousands of years, most likely no one knows the reason now. But looking at it, the name does seem quite fitting."

"Be careful." Pannis suddenly turned around on the back of the wolf, using the bowstring to deflect an incoming bone arrow to protect Vivian, "Skeleton archers have started to appear, be cautious of long-range weapons. Bone arrows have good penetrating ability, don’t get hurt just when we’ve arrived here."

"Will there be Skeleton Mages?" Marcia, swinging her heavy sword, crushed a skeleton’s skull, "I didn’t see any the last time I came, but if there are really Skeleton Mages, that would be trouble."

"Only if there’s a Necromancer here." Pannis let loose three consecutive arrows, one deflecting another incoming bone arrow, one breaking the bone bow of a skeleton archer, and the last arrow entering the eye socket of the skeleton, "Only a Necromancer can spawn a Skeleton Mage, so let’s hope we don’t encounter one, otherwise... I don’t want to see a magic storm."

"Legion! Assemble!" Catherine lifted her one-handed sword with a beam of light gathering on its blade. In an instant, the remaining four people and their mounts were simultaneously enveloped by a faint light as if responding to Catherine’s call.

"This skill connects everyone tightly, you won’t need to worry about falling behind before its duration ends." Catherine swung her shield and cried loudly, "You don’t need to control the direction of the Silver Wolves anymore. They will automatically rally around me under the power of the skill. Everyone, feel free to attack."

Legion Assembly, a higher-grade knight skill, is the best skill to use when launching a large-scale attack. Once the skill is activated, all friendly cavalry within the coping range will be enhanced, turning the legion into a cohesive unit, a perpetual nightmare for any enemy. If the Undead could dream, they would certainly feel like they were trapped in a nightmare. The charging Silver Wolves were like rampaging armored bulls, mercilessly crushing any enemy standing in their way; any attempt to halt their advance was in vain.

"Glory! Assault!" The previously used skill reappeared. Behind Catherine, no, behind everyone, numerous phantoms appeared vaguely. Pennant flags soared high in the sky. Armored knights, encased in armor, rode in silence under the flags. The fervor of battle gleamed under their metallic face masks, and their weapons shimmered with the cold light of steel.

The knights urged their mounts to sprint across the earth at a breakneck speed, yet not making a sound, as if performing a silent pantomime. However, anyone who presumed this celebration to be harmless would undoubtedly suffer a harsh blow.

In fact, the hundred phantoms of Glory Assault had a certain impact force. Although it couldn’t compare to a Gold Rank Knight, it often worked wonders against troops consisting of ordinary people or Lower Rank professionals. This is why people believe that a few Gold Rank or higher knights working together can typically withstand a smaller army head-on.

A steel tide of Phantoms surged forward, smashing into the obstructing skeletons, trampling them underfoot without needing any additional help to eradicate a multitude of enemies. Among them were a few Bone Knights of Silver or Gold Rank, but even they were torn like paper before the Glory Assault. Even the toughest bodies couldn’t resist the charge launched for glory and victory.

"The first line of defense is broken," Catherine shouted in triumph, holding her one-handed sword high. "Victory will ultimately be ours!"

After the assault, the surging Phantoms began to vanish one by one, along with their banners. Perhaps it was an illusion, but the vanishing knights seemed to give off an impression of satisfaction. When the last phantom disappeared, Catherine lowered her raised sword, breathing heavily for a moment before speaking. "The Glory Assault wears me out. I need to rest. The next wave of enemies is up to you all."

"Leave it to me." Marcia flicked her great sword, her gaze turning to another group of nearly a thousand undead in the distance. She said calmly, "The God of War will always guide us to victory."

"Thank you," Catherine replied gratefully and then asked, "How far did you get the last time?"

"Halfway through Ghost Cry Mountain," Marcia calmly polished the edge of her massive sword while mounted on a wolf, facing the vast undead force. "I know what you want to ask, but I didn’t venture deep into Ghost Cry Mountain, so I can only give you a rough idea of the terrain."

"That’s good enough," Catherine said. "Give us a brief introduction, so we have an idea."

"We deal with the enemy first, we can discuss this later," Marcia’s calm demeanor started to fade as she drew closer to the enemy, eventually replaced by a detached expression.

As the Silver Wolf galloped, Marcia pressed one hand down on its back, vaulting herself into the air. The force was so great that the wolf staggered. Marcia moved quickly through the air, and as she reached the highest point and began to fall, her body suddenly paused, contradicting the rule of gravity, and rebounded upwards again. After two leaps, Marcia appeared about twenty meters ahead of the troops, hovering five meters in the air. At the moment when the forward momentum was exhausted, Marcia punched downwards, using the inertia of the fall to crash into the ground like a meteor, right at the edge of the skeleton crowd.

The undead had no time to react to Marcia’s fast approach and could only watch as she smashed into their territory, a shockwave of dirt and weeds spreading rapidly. When the dust cleared, a round pit three meters in diameter and one meter deep remained in the soft grass. However, Marcia was nowhere to be found.

One attack was not enough to clear a path, so Marcia didn’t stay in one place after her strike. She clasped her great sword and turned into a whirlwind, moving forward in a straight line. It was a Blade Storm, with Marcia at the center, spinning with her raised sword, gaining momentum as she did. It was impossible to see her figure in the center, only a swirling light cutting through the sea of undead. The heavy and sharp great sword acted like a meat grinder at high speed, crushing anything within its range.

The undead had no feelings, so they didn’t fear. Those near the path threw themselves fearlessly at the intruder, but it was in vain as they watched the storm of blades pierce through thousands of undead, forming a wide passage.

Five Silver Wolves did not pause; they signaled to start accelerating when Marcia began spinning, following her from ten meters away without hindrance, as effortless as a picnic. Behind them, the passage closed as the undead filled in, but nothing the undead did could affect the adventurers who had already passed through.

Eventually, after piercing through the undead crowd, the rotating Marcia slowly stopped. As soon as she did, Pannis appeared next to her, tossing her back onto his wolf.

"I’m so dizzy." The girl who just made a shocking move, Marcia, barely managed to sit on the wolf. Wobbling, she inserted her great sword back into its sheath with great difficulty. "That’s why I hate Blade Storm. It’s so dizzying."

"But the effect is indeed good," Catherine gave Marcia a thumbs-up, but before she finished speaking, the grass in front of them suddenly rolled up. A Bone Knight leaped out from the ground, his horse-cutting saber slashing with a sound that tore the air, aiming straight for Catherine’s neck. (To be continued.
