Only a Demigod Mage can comprehend the art of flying, a fundamental law in the Yarran World. However, many mages refused to accept this, coveting the exhilarating feeling of soaring in the sky, thus dedicating hundreds of years to unlocking the mysteries of flight, though they didn’t manage to break the law, they found another path towards the sky.

In the late third Epoch, the Legendary Rank Elf Mage, Othelan, developed the Feather Fall Technique. It was a self-targeted spell that significantly reduces the caster’s weight, allowing them to counteract gravity using air resistance, making their descent very slow, as if they are seemingly flying when leaping from heights. A hundred years later, using the concept of Feather Fall Technique, he successfully created the Feather Fall Potion, called the Feather Potion by mages since swiftlet tail feathers were its main ingredient. In 985 of the Fourth Epoch, the human Legendary Mage Blaine developed the Light Body Spell. Though, contrary to its name, the actual effect of this spell is to reduce the effect of gravity on the user, decreasing acceleration to slow their descent. It should have been named the "Slow Fall Spell". But Blaine, being notoriously obstinate, insisted on its current name. And following the principle that the inventor has the naming rights, the rest of the mages reluctantly accepted this unconventional name.

The emergence of these two spells let mages enjoy fleeting exhilaration of flight. Many mages who lived in tall towers enjoyed jumping off from nearly a hundred meters peaks, after stacking both spells, taking seven to eight minutes to reach the ground. This euphoria of floating in the air attracted numerous mages, even with the flaw that the spells would fail if they were attacked, many mages willingly risked accidents and potentially fatal falls. This was the mages’ romanticism, their bliss. Every Gold Rank and above mage who mastered both spells indulged in this amusement, and Vivian was no exception. After she advanced to the Gold Rank and learned these spells, she refused to use the Mage Tower’s Teleportation Array to descend from the Starshine Tower for two consecutive months, persisting on jumping off instead. Even now, though the initial thrill had faded, she would occasionally play again in pursuit of the allure of the sky.

But today, Vivian experienced the thrill of falling from heights without any spells for the first time. As soon as she jumped off the kite’s frame, she plummeted towards the ground like a meteor, the whole fall took only a few seconds. As Vivian launched herself into the air, Pannis kicked off the frame and reached her side, holding her petite figure in his arms.

Accompanied by the cries of hawks and a burst of blood, the sharp claws of the three Gold Rank rock hawks effortlessly penetrated Pannis’s Silver Rank Aggression Shield, leaving several deep gashes on his back. But this attack couldn’t prevent Pannis and Vivian’s fall, the rock hawks could only futilely hover in the sky, watching the pair plunge into the dense forest.

While slowing their descent by crashing into branches and treetops may not be an efficient method of landing, it was exceedingly effective for Upper Rank professionals who possessed aggression and a Magic Shield. The duo’s shields,l whilst colliding continuously with branches of various sizes and thicknesses, managed to repeatedly slow their speed. Upon reaching the ground, the force of their landing fell within the tolerance of an Upper Rank professional.

As soon as they hit the ground, Vivian rolled out of Pannis’s hold. Before he had embraced her, from the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the three rock hawks charging towards her. The claws of a Gold Rank rock hawk were an intimidating weapon. Even Vivian’s Gold Rank Magic Shield couldn’t guarantee withstanding the attack of three rock hawk’s claws without being broken. And once the Shield breaks, a physically fragile mage like herself could normally expect several broken bones from the impact of the fall. Fortunately, Pannis protected her and prevented the catastrophe.

"Pannis, how badly are you hurt?" Rather than checking herself, Vivian first raises a protective barrier around her and Pannis, weaker than the priest’s protective measures but usable in a pinch. Once she launched her shield, Vivian helmed the seal, casting a quick glance over her surroundings while alertly asking, "Can you still move?"

"I’m fine, the injuries missed my vitals, I’m not going to die, don’t worry." Pannis gritted his teeth and rose from the ground. Although he couldn’t see it himself, he could distinctly feel that the deepest wound was on his shoulder, with the injury revealing a glimpse of bone, "No need to stay on guard, there are no magical beasts in the vicinity for now. Just help me out, cast a Fireball Technique."

"Cast it like this?" Vivian let her guard down, frowning as she turned around, "Can’t we wait for me to teleport Lina over for healing?"

"I would have lost too much blood by then and might not hold up," Pannis turned around, showing Vivian his back. In just a short while, the blood had soaked through his black knight uniform and was still rapidly pouring out.

Vivian heaved a sigh, a deep red flame ignited on her palm, and she quickly pressed it to the wound on Pannis’s back. A sizzling sound filled the air, a charred smell of flesh in the wind. Under the influence of the flame, the bleeding of Pannis’s wound temporarily stopped and he, drenched in cold sweat, breathed a sigh of relief.

"You can still hang in there, right?" Vivian moved forward to support him, "I’ll start the teleportation now, I’ll bring Lina first."

"Not here." Pannis declined Vivian’s assistance, trying to walk towards the outskirts normally, "Teleport on the banks outside the forest, it’s an open view and safer there, it’s just a few hundred meters away, not very far."

"Can you withstand it?" Vivian hesitated and followed him.

"Don’t worry, I’m still good, it’s just external injuries, nothing major." Pannis managed a weak smile and retorted, "However, whilst my condition is still alright, I can’t say the same for yours. I noticed earlier, your entire body, it was like..."

"Shh." Vivian placed a finger on her lips, winking her right eye, "I’m not ready yet, give me a bit more time. I’m aware of my own conditions and it won’t be a problem for a short while."

"Alright then, if that’s what you want." Pannis didn’t say anything more and the pair walked side by side towards the distance.

"They have successfully landed, haven’t they?" The other members of the squad, several kilometers away from the action, could only see two small black dots converging into one, plunging into the forest, with a few more black dots circling for a while before regretfully parting ways. Dora, who had just let out a a sigh of relief, poked Catherine and asked, "Senior, you don’t seem to be worried anymore, did you manage to see what happened?"

"How could I possibly see that?" Catherine gave Dora a side glance, pulling out a crystal, "It’s a Resonance Crystal with a range of ten kilometers. Vivian has already reported that she’s safe."

"That’s good, the problem has finally been resolved, it seems we just have to wait now. Groundhog, Shadow Wolf, you two prepare and arrange your stuff to save time later." Dora shrugged, suddenly pausing, she asked Catherine, "If Vivian goes over, who will handle the teleportation here? Illusion Fox doesn’t know how to do that."

"Of course I’ll come back and do the teleportation myself." Vivian’s voice echoed from the Array behind Dora, "Lina, you go first. Pannis is injured. Although it’s not serious, you should hurry over and treat him."

Dora turned around, just in time to see Vivian’s right hand resting on the edge of the Array, and the fading silhouette of Lina standing in the Array, which finally disappeared completely.

"Dora, you go first and be on the lookout. Then Elrad, you go, followed by Groundhog and the four of you. Negotiate your order amongst yourselves, I will go last." Catherine meticulously planned, "Vivian, will you be okay teleporting continuously, do you need a break in between?"

"No need, it’s not like I’m teleporting eight people at once. There’s absolutely no problem if I teleport one at a time." Vivian patted her chest confidently, "Those who are leaving should come into the center of the Array in order, bring your own stuff but the combined weight of person and items should not exceed one hundred kilos. Not even an ounce more, otherwise the mana I expend increases eightfold."

Dora was stunned, touching the armor on her body and weighing the backpack on her back. After she pondered for a bit, took out a few items and put them into Illusion Fox’s backpack, she stepped into the Magic Array. With the flashing lights from the Array, she disappeared on the spot.

"Next one, don’t wait for my reply." Vivian’s left hand clenched a crystal silently, "Be quick."

The Array lit up continuously, sending the team members away one by one. By the time it was Catherine’s turn, Vivian realized that Catherine had already taken off her rarely removed chainmail, wearing only a lined skirt and holding her knight sword in her hand. She threw her chainmail and backpack into the center of the Teleportation Array.

"Send the equipment over first." Catherine said, "I’ll go with you for safety."

"Ha, thanks, big sister." Vivian was not surprised by Catherine’s idea at all, she giggled, activated the Magic Array to transport a pile of items, and said at the same time, "He’s completely found out about my bodily abnormalities."

"Did you tell him yet?" Catherine froze for a moment and followed up with a question, "About your situation."

"Not yet." Vivian shook her head, she went into the center of the Array with Catherine, without rushing to activate the Array, "I haven’t figured it out yet."

"I think he’s worth trusting." Catherine said, "And your situation isn’t that complicated, actually there’s no need to hide it."

"I know." Vivian sighed, "But it still feels awkward. Let me think about it a little more. Alright, let’s go too."

The Array shone brightly for the last time, the two disappeared on the spot, only leaving the dimly lit Array behind, devoid of any magical energy.
