Chapter 1335: Chapter 121 Sudden Situation

The triple cold moon hung high in the night sky, and the desolate wind swept up fine sand, spinning and whizzing by, leaving only echoes behind. When the night wind ceased, the desert was always silent; if one listened carefully, they might even hear the sound of sand grains rolling down the dunes from afar. Compared to the Sighing Desert of the Yarran World, although this place was perennially shrouded in night, the temperature was not low, enough so that professionals, even only clothed in a single layer and equipped, would not feel cold. The mage girl found this especially strange. She had quietly discussed the reasons with Freya several times, but due to time constraints, they were unable to conduct enough investigative research on the environment. Consequently, they had no choice but to temporarily attribute the cause to the absence of disturbances from the Ice-attribute energy from the Perpetual Icefield.

Now, the adventure team’s six members, along with the two little critters, Little Deer and Annie, were surrounded by over a dozen Undeads as they headed towards the village of the Undeads. It was said that the village’s location was still very far, and at their current pace, it would take at least a day and a half. Unlike their arrival, some of the Undeads who had ridden their skeletal mounts had now switched to walking. At their request, the six guests could only ride the skeletal mounts belonging to the Undeads, which were leaned over by the original owners of the skeletal beasts, slowly moving through the center of the desert. Despite the girls’ repeated refusals, the Undeads insisted on this hospitable gesture, even showing signs of dissatisfaction until the girls reluctantly accepted their goodwill with a bitter smile. Only then did the Undeads regain their usual smiles, though their expressions were largely misunderstood by most people. Pannis, however, had only rejected the Undeads’ riding invitation once before happily mounting a skeletal beast, to the delight of the Undeads who even showed him more warmth.

"That guy has long been accustomed to dealing with different races, capable of keenly observing their customs," Catherine said with a resigned smile, sighing softly, "It seems I have a lot more to learn. I should have realized earlier; these Undeads’ behavior is somewhat similar to Beastmen—accustomed to using the best things to entertain guests. If the guests refuse, they feel disrespected. Ha, such a simple new race, all are quite interesting people."

"They are interesting Undeads." Lina, riding on a skeletal horse, seemed uncomfortable all over. As a priest of Denia who managed partial rights over life energy and naturally resisted the Energy of Death, her aversion was not strong. Moreover, having lived with two little Undeads for years had allowed her to control her emotions well. Even while riding a skeletal horse, her smile was a bit stiff as she patted the horse’s hard skull, saying, "I’m wondering if I can’t control the life energy inside of me, whether it might harm it."

"Rattle rattle, rattle rattle." The Undead holding Lina’s horse suddenly turned its head, its jaw producing a series of rattles, and even patted the skeletal horse’s neck a few times. The skeletal horse, behaving like a living creature, stretched out its head and rubbed its hard mouth against its master’s skull, showing great affection.

"Sister Lina." Little Deer’s smooth, white little head peeked out from behind Lina. Previously, in the compromise between the girls and the Undeads, only the six adults had mounted the skeletal mounts, while the two little ones squeezed together with Lina and Pannis. At this moment, Little Deer shook its head and said, "He says, the guests are very kind. But don’t worry, Susan, although it looks slender, is actually very strong. Looks can be deceiving, haha."

"Uh, hehe, hehe." The girls exchanged glances, unsure of what expression to make. Everyone had already noticed, including Little Deer, that the skeletons’ sense of humor seemed different from ordinary beings, often laughing for a long time at seemingly nonsensical remarks. But considering their unique bodily structures, they could understand this.

"Looks like there’s some trouble ahead." Not far in front of the girls, Pannis, who was keeping pace with a Ghost, suddenly said to the skeleton leading the horse, "Let’s stop for a moment."

"Haha, the guest’s reaction is truly sharp," said the ghost who had been chatting with Pannis with a laugh. "Even more so than our local undead. Indeed, there’s a desert storm coming, so everyone, let’s take a break for a while."

Pannis’s face changed for a moment before quickly returning to normal. The undead did not notice the change in Pannis, but the young girls who were constantly with Pannis could not possibly ignore his unusual expression. However, the girls also found it strange; desert storms, although rare, were not particularly dangerous for Upper Rank professionals and should not have caused such a reaction from Pannis.

Actually, it was not the arrival of the desert storm that had caused Pannis’s face to change dramatically, but rather the very occurrence of the storm itself that surprised him. As someone well-versed in geography, he knew that in an environment like the Realm of the Dead, which was purely desert, desert storms should not occur. However, this storm defied his understanding, making him feel unusually amazed.

However, there was no time to delve into the reasons, as the desert storm was already close at hand. Looking into the distance, one could see under the dark sky, a grey haze seemed to envelop everything, even obscuring the moonlight. If there were no surprises, it was the large quantity of sand stirred up by the storm that blocked the sky.

"Dismount, dismount," the ghost shouted loudly. The young girls and the other skeletons each jumped off their skeletal mounts. The girls curiously watched the undead prepare without a hint of nervousness.

Soon, over a dozen skeletal mounts lay down in a circle. Not only that, but the girls noticed that when the skeletal mounts lay down, they inserted parts of their limbs deep into the sand to anchor themselves. Relying on their mounts, the undead formed a second circle. They seemed quite accustomed to the storm and appeared very organized. The eight guests, along with the only ghost among the undead, occupied the central position, completely protected by the skeletons, showing that the undead indeed held these guests in high regard and wanted to provide the best treatment possible.

"Whoo~~~" In an instant, the fierce wind carrying a vast amount of sand swept towards them from afar.
