Chapter 1260: Chapter 46 Just Occasionally

"How could all of you gather here?" After the girls had been frolicking for a while, Vivian’s overheated brain finally cooled down, giving her more room for thought. Unable to suppress her inner doubts, she asked, "Aren’t each of you supposed to have important things to do today?"

Looking past the obstruction of the girls, one could see the interior of the mansion. At least the vestibule, living room, parlor, and the small platform on the second floor had undergone a complete transformation in the half-day since the young girl had left. The once modest mansion was now decorated anew. The walls had been repainted with bright colors, and colorful ribbons connected the columns, from which hung delicate Light-attribute Crystals. The activated Crystals emitted a soft glow, illuminating the unlit rooms. The whole room was arranged from inside out according to the standards of an upper-class celebration party, without any deviation. It was obvious that, aside from Catherine and Freya directing together, no one else present could achieve this effect.

Beyond the vestibule and into the living room, through the crystal door leading to the backyard, one could see that the garden had been transformed into a quaint gathering place. Leisure chairs were scattered about, and on each casual table, there were all kinds of fruits, desserts, and drinks. Several Crystal Energy lamps were stationed in the air; one could imagine that after dinner, as dusk fell and the bright lights illuminated their surroundings, the girls would bathe in the cool evening breeze, rest, frolic, drink, and enjoy themselves in the fragrant garden, which would be a most comfortable pleasure.

"In all the time I was gone this afternoon, were you all decorating the house?" Vivian asked blankly, "Big sister, didn’t you go to the Guild? Freya, didn’t you go meet your father? Ava, didn’t you follow Freya? And Lina, you came back from the church so early? Is that what happened?"

"Hehe, what are you talking about? Why don’t I understand a single word?" Lina used the book in her hand to block Vivian’s line of sight, her gaze drifting as she said, "What decorating the house, what coming back early - I don’t understand any of it."

"Well then, I’ve been completely fooled by you from beginning to end, how could you do this to me." Vivian pretended to be gritting her teeth, but her face bore a thick smile as she playfully said, "You didn’t go anywhere at all, you just deliberately didn’t accompany me to the event."

"Humph, who made you act so mysteriously last night." Catherine pinched the Mage girl’s cheek and said irritably, "You had such an important event yet you refused to tell us in advance, only asking us to go to the Guild with you without disclosing the reason, claiming it was just a regular meeting. Weren’t you the first one to deceive people? You dummy, didn’t you use your brain to think for a moment - a quick glance at the newspaper could have told you about the Alchemy Highest Council’s significant event taking place today. Connecting it with your recent actions, how could we not guess what you were planning on doing with us? Did you really think we’re that dumb?"

"How is that the same," Vivian shook her head forcefully and said, "I just wanted to give you all a surprise."

"Well, did you feel surprised, dummy?" Lina launched a surprise attack, pinching the other side of the girl’s cheek and twisting it before quickly running away as the girl’s eyebrows started to rise, teasingly asking with a smile, "We just wanted to give you a surprise, hehehe. Besides, compared to that, did you really wish for someone among us to accompany you? Hmm?"

"Wh-wh-wh-wh-what do you mean." Vivian, too flustered to be angry about the sneak attack, blushed and stammered, "Do-don’t talk nonsense, I I I of course wanted all of you to go with me."

"Is that so?" The priest girl’s voice rose in pitch as she said with a peculiar expression, "Could I have misunderstood? I thought, rather than us accompanying you, you’d prefer to share the sweetest fruit of victory alone with someone, wouldn’t you say?"

"Of course not, what ’someone,’ what ’sweetest fruit,’ you’re imagining things—of course, I was hoping everyone would be there, not just to accept congratulations alone with Pannis. Ahhh, what am I saying, I didn’t say anything just now." The Mage girl slumped into confusion once more and, after realizing what she had just said, looked around anxiously, praying that Pannis hadn’t heard her words. This time, her prayer was swiftly answered; after scanning the room, Vivian discovered that Pannis, who had entered the house with her and was seen in the room not long before, had mysteriously disappeared.

"Eh? Where’s Pannis?" Following Vivian’s gaze, Lina also noticed Pannis’s disappearance and couldn’t help but ask in confusion, "That idiot was just here, hiding in the corner pretending to be a wall decoration. How come he’s suddenly vanished? He didn’t sneak out for a drink again, did he?"

"Stop joking around. He wouldn’t do something that foolish at a time like this," Catherine tapped the priestess girl’s head and said, "And haven’t you noticed? The Flower and Grass Sisters are missing too. Nicole, Pannis, he..."

"I just made a bet with Rachel on how quickly you all would notice he’d left, and I won this time. It took less than three minutes to discover it, hehe, you know what this means for tonight, Rachel." Nicole gave Rachel a suggestive smile before answering, "He’s gone to the kitchen, and he also coaxed Pansy and Mimosa to go with him. He said if he didn’t go now, we might end up with a case of more than ten people starving to death. He also mentioned that he promised Vivian pan-fried knife-back fish for dinner, and if he couldn’t deliver, he suspected he wouldn’t live through the night."

"That jerk, he actually dared to bring that up," the girl’s eyebrows immediately raised, and she spoke through gritted teeth, "You don’t know what that jerk said at the Supreme Council."

"I have a bad feeling about this." In the kitchen, Pannis shivered as he faintly heard laughter coming from outside, "I always feel like another crisis is about to hit us."

"That’s because you, the master, must have done something naughty again," Mimosa chuckled covering her mouth, "It’s always like this."

"Don’t talk nonsense, focus on learning," Pannis coughed and straightened his face, flipping the snowy white fish fillets in the pan, "Pay attention to the fire, keep it just this vigorous. If the oil temperature gets even a bit higher, the texture of the fish skin will change."

"Understood," the maid sisters stopped joking and nodded seriously, "We’ve got it memorized."

"Good," Pannis nodded and continued, "Master all these cooking methods, and you can make them for the ladies in the future. Otherwise, they might find it hard to adapt if they go without for a while."

"But you can also cook for the ladies," Pansy asked curiously, "Why would the ladies ever go without?"

"Uh, I was just talking about the times when I’m occasionally not here," Pannis’s smile stiffened for a moment before returning to normal as he said with a smile, "That’s right, just occasionally, only occasionally."
