Chapter 1195: Chapter 307 Pannis’s Trump Card

From Pannis’s smile, Nora could even read the mockery within it—it was the mockery of someone who had succeeded in their scheming, a smile of mockery that seemed to speak, as if it were telling her mockingly, "When I came out of the Inherent Psychic Domain, the time I actually had to react was just a little ahead of the time I showed you. From the beginning of our fight, I was intentionally giving you a wrong impression. Now, it’s finally time to reap the rewards."

These words were unspoken by Pannis, but at the sight of Pannis’s smile, Nora understood instantly; because besides witnessing that smile, she also saw a bow, a peculiar bow. The limbs and string of the bow, composed of energy, emitted a faint sense of pressure. Perched on the string were three feathered arrows, seemingly ordinary, yet they appeared to contain immense danger, exerting a strong psychological pressure.

Realizing she had been deceived again, Nora’s dive from the sky abruptly halted; in midair, she tried to change her posture and dart sideways. However, even if her speed was faster than Pannis’s, it was already too late, because all Pannis needed to do was release his fingers: the first arrow was launched from the bow, followed by his arm swinging twice more, sending all three arrows flying toward Nora in the air.

Nora sensed a great threat from the bow and arrows, desperately trying to increase the distance to evade the arrows. But the arrows were too fast and the distance too short; as soon as the arrow left the string, it was already in front of her.

The three arrows, each from a different angle, had differing effects.

The first arrow, compared to its flight, made Nora’s movements seem slowed down. As her body contracted, she forcibly twisted her waist to shift her upper body to one side. She used all her strength in these movements, simply to make herself a bit faster. Although she no longer felt pain, while making these movements, she could even hear the protesting creaks from her waist’s muscles and bones. Now, she couldn’t worry about anything else, including the groans from her waist; with her desperate efforts, she finally succeeded in escaping the threat range of the arrow. The flying arrow whisked through the space between her body and arms, leaving a deep wound on her upper rib.

The second arrow, by this time, pushed Nora to her limits; she was incapable of evading. But that was no reason to give up. Gritting her teeth, her muscles tensed, she crossed two daggers in front of her, snapping them towards the incoming feathered arrow like scissors. The arrow was fast, the daggers were fast, and the action was smaller than what she did for the first arrow, so as the feathered arrow approached, the daggers also arrived. The scissor formation created by the daggers met the flying arrowhead, sparking off flecks of fire with the clash of metal. The arrow wasn’t deflected immediately; due to the powerful force of the shot, it stubbornly maintained its forward trajectory as if refusing to abandon its target—Nora felt the same, stubbornly pushing the daggers outward. This split second of struggle ended in Nora’s win, her efforts finally causing the arrow to deviate from its course, whistling off to who knows where. However, Nora had no time to worry about this as the third arrow was already upon her.

The third arrow, whether dodging or blocking, time no longer allowed for any such action. Nora could only watch as the arrow grew closer to her. Fortunately, she still had her limbs; slighting adjusting her arm’s position, she placed her right forearm in front of her, perfectly positioning her forearm in the path of the arrow. Of course, the arrow wouldn’t dodge; it penetrated straight through Nora’s forearm. In the instant her forearm was pierced, she bit her lip, twisting her arm, disregarding the flesh and blood tearing and splattering from the collision with the arrow’s force, forcibly twisting to alter the arrow’s direction, letting the feathered arrow deflect, continuing its flight just past her forehead and upwards.

However, despite seeing only three arrows and Pannis shooting only three times, there was inexplicably a fourth arrow. This fourth arrow was exceedingly sinister, skimming the ground before suddenly soaring upwards, aiming for Nora’s heart from below. In her defense against the three arrows, Nora had devoted her full attention; thus, she didn’t perceive the fourth arrow until it was nearly upon her. By then, it was impossible for her to take any action to stop it, and she could only watch helplessly as the arrow slipped through the gap between her ribs, inching closer to her heart.

But at this moment, the formidable strength of the Triclops’s body was fully demonstrated. Nora, refusing to admit defeat, summoned all her energy, channeling it entirely into her muscles. Instantly, her muscles turned even harder than steel. Though the flying arrow pierced Nora’s skin and flesh, her formidable muscles squeezed the arrow’s shaft from both sides of the wound, forcibly slowing its speed. Knowing this was a matter of life and death, she erupted with unprecedented strength. As the arrow’s penetration slowed, she quickly extended her left hand and firmly grasped the arrow’s shaft.

As the arrow surged forward, the shaft twisted rapidly in Nora’s palm, like a magical beast desperately trying to break free of her control. Yet, as one of the strongest among the Triclops, she possessed enough power to retain control despite the shaft’s struggles. Finally, the arrow submitted just before reaching its target, before piercing her heart. It exhausted all its force and remained motionless in place.

No fifth arrow came. Nora truly exhaled in relief; her muscles trembled upon completing their task of interception—a protest from her muscles relaxing after forced exertion. Though she had faced extreme danger, Nora was finally sure she had endured through Pannis’s terrifying trump card—now was her time to strike back.

Wait, Pannis?

Only then, with her mind no longer solely focused, did Nora have the spare capacity to consider other issues, to pay attention to Pannis’s actions. In that moment, she suddenly realized she might have made a catastrophic mistake. Perhaps she had not truly survived her opponent’s trump card; perhaps, the real threat was not just the four arrows, but rather the person who had shot them.

Indeed, as Nora was intensely battling the final arrow, Pannis had already leapt upward from below. When she instantly realized everything and the possible mistake she had made, Pannis was right beneath her. Looking down, she could see Pannis’s hand pressing on the tail of the fourth arrow, his expression revealing a complex smile, mingled with a bit of apology, a bit of regret, but mostly an indescribable complexity.

"Pfft."
