Chapter 1174: Chapter 286: Quick Battle

"Boom," an energy sphere exploded in midair, emitting a dazzling bright light. Pannis burst through the scattered energy, rushing out at high speed from the light sphere with a figure that seemed to be his shadow following closely behind him. While still midair, the figure behind brandished two daggers, one on each side aiming for Pannis’s waist. Just before the daggers could reach him, Pannis’s figure flashed and disappeared on the spot, and immediately reappeared behind the female moribund, her left fist aimed viciously at the heart on the female moribund’s back. Halfway to the target, a Wrist Spike shot out unexpectedly from the bracer, heading straight for the enemy’s heart which was one of the moribund’s biggest weak points.

The female moribund’s daggers struck nothing but air, not even contemplating where Pannis might appear. She curled into a roll, tumbling forward repeatedly, perfectly evading Pannis’s Wrist Spike. Pannis didn’t pursue but kept his sword hidden in his right hand behind him, stabbing upward from below, precisely targeting the metallic handle of an axe descending from the sky, creating a crisp clanging sound. Unbeknownst to Pannis, the male moribund had been stepping on air to catch up behind him. During Pannis’s attack, the male had stealthily ambushed, seizing the moment Pannis might be distracted, hoping for an unexpected advantage.

However, although Pannis could only see what was in front of him, his perception was extraordinary, making everything around him vividly clear in his mind. Not only the movement pathways of both enemies but also every prostrating motion of the four Undead Mages kneeling around the distantly located altar were downright clear, even the incantations murmured so low that only they themselves could hear didn’t escape him. Thus, Pannis countered the ambush with a thrust, using the hand axe’s momentum to twist his body and stretched out his left index finger, drawing a horizontal line in the air. The Vacuum Slash, usually unleashed by a sword, was released from his fingertip. The invisible White Razor formed from Aggression sliced through the air around him, whistling as it soared into the sky.

"Hmph," the male moribund grunted. He clapped his two axes together and heavily chopped down at the Aggression blade coming at him, successfully shattering the Vacuum Slash that could easily cleave through the massive stone columns of the temple. However, as the residual energy dissipated and the white Vacuum Slash completely vanished, the male moribund then realized that while his attention was captivated by the Vacuum Slash, Pannis had leaped up from underneath his blind spot. Following the trail of the Vacuum Slash, the one-handed sword, like a venomous snake lying in wait, finally bared its sharp fangs toward his heart.

"Boom," another blinding energy sphere exploded. The male moribund didn’t evade but chose to meet the attack head-on, disregarding the long sword aimed at his heart and simply opened The Third Eye. A torrent of light immediately burst forth from the eye on his forehead, and Pannis’s sword, barely grazing his dark robe, was consumed by the intense light, its momentum to penetrate further lost in the impact. Having just exchanged several blows, the male moribund was keenly aware of how troublesome his opponent could be; after the light engulfed Pannis, the moribund didn’t pause, instead, he spread his arms and the hand axes outwards, beginning to spin like a top while gradually lowering his altitude. The sharp hand axes with the powerful force of the Triclops’s musculature produced a hissing air-slicing sound, turning into two invisible afterimages, subtly covering several meters around him.

"Clang, clang, clang," a continuous series of metallic collisions rang out. The male moribund’s response was timely, his spinning axes directly colliding with Pannis who had soundlessly appeared behind him. The moment Pannis appeared, he faced an onslaught, and although he blocked the axes’ cutting edge with his one-handed sword, he was forced to drift backward like a kite unable to close in for melee combat under the powerful impact.

Just as she was drifting backwards, two daggers viciously stabbed from behind. The female moribund had already moved behind them during the continuous exchange of offense and defense. As Pannis retreated, she approached his rear with a speed sufficient to leave afterimages, seizing the opportunity to attack while Pannis had not yet fully regained his balance.

However, in battle, Pannis never easily left opportunities for the enemy. What people thought were opportunities often turned out to be mere illusions. Before the daggers could completely thrust forward, the female moribund suddenly had a bad premonition. The enemy in front of her, with his back towards her, twisted his head halfway around and revealed a bizarre smile. At the same moment she saw Pannis’s smile, the female moribund also saw his one-handed sword, which was thrusting backward from under his armpit at an eerie angle. The sword surged with energy, clearly coated with abundant Aggression. It moved even faster than her own daggers, like the sting of a killer bee, always appearing at unexpected angles and moments and in unexpected places.

The female moribund knew that if she continued her attack, Pannis’s one-handed sword would surely pierce her heart first. For their half-dead, half-alive kind, this was extremely dangerous, so she had no choice but to withdraw the half-thrust daggers and cross them to guard against the Aggression-filled blade.

But the moment she parried the blade, she knew she had been duped again. The sword, brimming with Aggression, was oddly soft and lacked any strength. The force she used to block was wasted, leaving her completely unguarded upfront. By the time she realized why Pannis had that strange smile, the attack had already arrived. Pannis, retreating, moved in close to her body, slamming his right elbow backward into her upper abdomen. It was just an elbow strike, yet the impact was like a Siege Hammer, and the collision of Aggression and his robust body made a deep and thunderous noise. Even without the sense of pain, the female moribund could feel her ribs groaning. She even thought she could see cracks forming where there should be none, which for a Triclops who could battle ancient giants and even make Deities envious with merely physical strength, was an absurdly impressive feat.

Pannis’s attack didn’t stop there. Using the rebound from his elbow, Pannis quickly turned to the other side, his left hand drawing a dagger from who knows where, and stabbing upward diagonally toward the female moribund’s lower jaw. If the dagger penetrated from this angle, it would surely reach her brain, another lethal weakness of theirs.

The next moment, Pannis’s expression changed. The female moribund, who had no time to parry, suddenly opened her mouth. Her ghastly white teeth clamped tightly on the dagger. The forceful stab was fixed in place by her teeth, unable to move. Meanwhile, the female moribund’s Third Eye abruptly opened, less than half a meter from his face.
