Chapter 124
"Get inside." With that the communicator turned off, Kraig stepped in swiftly but Lyndon ran through the door leaving Kraig behind.
"Where’s she?" Lyndon asked Professor Lena, she stood up from the floor and didn’t mind the clatter, she stepped in Lyndon’s direction and pulled him to a certain room, it was Yanarym’s room but in a different dimension. It was Matteo’s space.
Lyndon saw Yanarym floating on the air, sleeping inside an orb, a transparent capsule, he rushed in her direction but immediately came to halt and slowly approached her---she lost a lot of weight---it was just days when he last saw her and she withered within that time. Her skin was as pale as the blank sheet of paper, her cheeks sunk and her lips were dry and blue, she was nowhere fine nor looking alive. The lively and bubbly girl who was always blooming as a vibrant flower, who would always peer at him with affectionate eyes was nowhere in the scene. Right now, she looked very similar to a dying person. What happened to her? What kind of sickness is this?
"You’re an ace student when it comes to healing, try and cure her Lyndon, help my daughter... she---she is dying." Lyndon’s forehead wrinkled, his mind turned blank when he heard Lena’s cry. His eyes shifted back to Yanarym and his knees staggered and gave out.
Blag!
His body tumbled on the floor.
Dying? Dying? Yanarym was? Why? How could she die? She had the enthusiasm and will to exploit him and Kraig, how could she die?!
"Who’s dying?" Kraig heard the witch professor’s declaration, he saw Lyndon breaking down on the ground and a floating orb from afar. He walked closer to it and saw Yanarym’s eyes closed... but that was not Yanarym.
It couldn’t be her. Because inside that orb was a woman who looked like a person in a coffin. A person who died. Kraig stepped back, a flashback from his memory where his mother was having a wake. Losing someone who he loved the most in a snap. This was a very familiar feeling.
He came here to tell her that no matter what happened he would accept her. No matter what she did or what she would do, he would love her with open arms. They would live happily without getting dragged by measly negative emotions. He had given up his vengeance for her. But why? Why was she laying in that floating thing? Wearing white, being all pale, and pretending to be a corpse?
"What happened to her?" He uttered, gradually ambled forward to see her closer, "She was only absent for days in the academy. How could she turn into this with such a short period of time?!" Kraig screamed and strived to reach out for her but the orb evaded him.
"You can’t scream here, you’re scaring her!" Professor Lena said and held the orb to stop it from moving away.
"Scaring her?" Kraig laughed, "Who’s scaring who?!" A laugh that sounded like crying. If anyone was scared that would be him. Why was she dying? Was it because she was there when they unleashed their powers? She received some impacts on her body? Why? She wouldn’t be sick! She was never sick! "Yanarym that’s enough! If you are doing this to make our anger disappear then it’s enough! I am not mad! I am not angry with you! Stop faking it and wake up!" Kraig screamed as the orb moved again, flying away from him. "Rym!" His tears were starting to swell, his heart was ripping again. "Please... love..."
Since they got into the relationship, he’d been very sentimental and emotional. He thought when his mother died, he would never be able to cry for someone else again or even fall in love. But Yanarym, she made him cry, countless times to the point he can to the conclusion that she liked seeing him in misery. And if she liked it that much, he would cry for her every day, "But please, wake up."
Lyndon seemed to come back to his senses hearing Kraig’s loud voice. "Let her out, I will cure her. Let her out, Professor Lena. She is not dying! I can heal her!" He blurted to Professor Lena and sprung from the floor.
Kraig ameliorated after hearing Lyndon, that was right, Lyndon was a mage specializing in healing. Yanarym was saved!
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO LET THEM IN!" Matteo’s voice thundered, a force grabbed the three of them and in the blink of an eye, they were shut out of Yanarym’s room.
Kraig and Lyndon were unable to respond in time, and they stared stupidly at the threshold of the dimension where Yanarym was.
"Marcus! You crazy bastard!" Kraig screamed and banged the door as he recovered from being in trance. "Open the door! Yanarym needs to be cured! Lyndon can help her! MARCUS!" It was fastened, something strong was holding the door to keep close. "Professor Lena, do something! Why are you letting Marcus do this?! He doesn’t have the rights to Yanarym! Why is he doing this?!"
"MARCUS! SHE WILL DIE IF THIS KEEPS GOING ON! LET ME SEE HER! I NEED TO KNOW HER CONDITION!" Lyndon joined Kraig in busting the door open, and when it did, Yanarym was not there nor Marcus. It was the same room but the atmosphere felt different.
"Where did they go? Professor!" Kraig burst into Professor Lena. "What’s going on!?"
"Professor Lena! Your daughter is missing! And she’s sick! Why are you so calm?!" Lyndon exclaimed as well.
"It’s useless," Lena said dryly as she got back on reading the book with the content of black curses, "Matteo probably took her to bath." She uttered silently and regained her calm but obviously not herself.
Seeing her get back to sitting on the floor and nonchalantly reading a book of black magic. Made Kraig and Lyndon put in a state of confusion.
The little glint of hope she had upon thinking that Lyndon was a healer mage could heal her daughter perished. She realized that if Matteo, a God himself who was desperate to save Yanarym would throw Lyndon out of the room mean, Lyndon’s ability would still result in vain. If Matteo could not heal Yanarym with his divine power. Why did she think about that fact Lyndon a mortal could?
"To bathe?!" Kraig and Lyndon shouted when they realized it. "Yanarym couldn’t take a bath in that state! And you are letting him touch her?! And who’s Matteo?!"
"Professor!"
"Answer us!"
"What’s going on?! Yanarym has to be healed!"
Kraig and Lyndon’s commotion caused Lena to halt reading the book, she clasped it shut and stared at them. They both clamped their mouths despite the agitation to ask more questions.
Lena thought that she had been silent for a long time. These two men in front of her, she knew them, they were more than a student for her. They were the men that were entangled in her daughter’s fate.
She was not oblivious to her daughter’s life, she may be a strict teacher at the Academy but she loved her daughter. So, despite staying silent she was cognizant of the fire that Yanarym was playing with. It was a very dangerous game but Lena wasn’t supposed to interfere.
Their fate, the three of them, were entangled a long time ago. Lyndon, Kraig, and Yanarym were predestined to always meet and cause harm to another. Whether it was physically or mentally... However, the finale of that fate was her daughter who had to suffer the most. If it was not for Matteo, Yanarym could have died for that long time.
They were only children at the time, but it had already begun. Yanarym’s ill-fated ending, as well as their tragic demise. ’She would always die in the hands of her lover’,’ was her fate and it cannot be eluded.
Kraig was an ace sorcerer, he was a powerful magician. If Lena didn’t meet Matteo, she might as well say that Kraig was the strongest man she knew that could yield his powers. However, some of his abilities were concealed because if it were ever released, that would be too destructive for the people, it could kill everyone in the town. This was not merely her speculation, because she saw it, it once happened.
There was a meadow in this town before, usually around afternoon, kids would gather in that area and play. There would be running, laughing, screaming. Out of everyone, two prominent kids were leading the others.
It was Kraig and Lyndon, they were like chiefs and the other kids were their minions. They would have adventures and challenges for themselves. Yanarym by that time was kept inside the house by Matteo. He would play with her all day and at night he would be there to soothe her to sleep. Everyone was tranquil, the surroundings were serene, they were like any other normal town.
