Chapter 374: § RETURN §
Chapter 121
’Have they gone totally nuts?!’ Yanarym was not prepared that they would wield their magic powers! Moreover, utilizing their talents was prohibited!
Although it was undoubtedly amazing to have that kind of power, excessive use may lead to death. Because mana was primarily derived from their lifespan. It was such a dangerous and foolish idea to yield that power for this childish quarrel!
She had to stop them or they could die! Judging from their appearance, their condition, they apparently reached their limitations. They can’t die! She was the one who was allowed to die! And they---she did not permit them to die!
Why were they even fighting to the death?! In the book, after joining forces to eliminate the curse that was given to them by the original. They had a few squabbles, mostly arguing with some minor things. Their ’big’ feud was a fistfight since they were mindful of the consequences of utilizing their mana to cultivate their abilities.
Especially to Kraig, she miscalculated his response to the situation. He was an overthinker, so she was determined that before he took action, he would have second thoughts on executing it. And Lyndon, Lyndon had a very tremendous trust issue, she figured that if Kraig would just say anything that could ignite Lyndon’s suspicion. He would take a pause and think about what was the ’actual’ thing that was happening.
By that, the two of them after beating each other at their content. They would finally come to their senses and talk about their differences. Of course, that won’t fix their broken relationship, but at least. They would know the core of their hatred.
And she could break up with them after realizing that she ’cheated’ with them. Plus, since she had already ruined Tiana, and with her enormous pride. Tiana would ultimately, won’t come back to Kraig or Lyndon. This was how it was supposed to happen...
But.
Yet.
Again.
That was not the case, why were they not talking about their unresolved past? And fighting for her, instead? Why were they not doubting her intentions? It was so obvious as clear water that she was riding two boats at the same time! Do they trust her too much?!
Her promise to the original was compensation for her broken heart! Her broken faith! Yanarym aimed to break their heart and won’t let them have any happy endings. She did not aim for their lives!
She thrashed her arms to her vicinity to see if the barrier Kraig made was there. It vanished.
"ENOUGH, enough!" She leaned onto the wall to become her support, her body felt soft. She was meant to halt the fight by darting to them but her knees were staggering, her joints, in general, were numb.
"STOP IT! I SAID ENOUGH! KRAIG! LYNDON!" The two weren’t listening to her. She clamped her lips, she was too weak to deal with them.
’She knew it. The only way to deal with bastards was becoming a bitch!’ Yanarym struggled to remain in her stance. ’This was not how it was supposed to unfold, why was this happening?!’ she closed her eyes.
She inhaled sharply, clenching her teeth, and took a deep breath. "I SAID STOP IT! I DID IT! I FOOLED YOU TWO! I AM IN LOVE WITH THE BOTH OF YOU! THAT’S WHY I HAD YOU AT THE SAME TIME!"
Everything stopped, objects dropped and the air returned to how it normally was. Yanarym almost dropped on the floor but forced herself to keep standing and looked at them. "I two-timed you!"
Kraig and Lyndon were stunned at their spot, they heard her yet their mind couldn’t process what she had said. Despite having trouble comprehending the revelation with their muddled mind, Kraig and Lyndon shifted their attention to her. In the back of their head, they were screaming in demand for an explanation. However, even before they could open their mouths the authorities came to tranquilize the two of them.
Yanarym felt feeble and stumbled to fall but was caught by big muscular arms before hitting the ground. She looked at the person who caught her and smiled, "You’re b-back... teo." As everything turned black.
Matteo, who just returned from his venture, wasn’t delighted at seeing her in any way. He left her full of vitality and with plenty of blessings. He made sure her body was in its healthiest shape. Nonetheless, he could feel her life energy was at its weakest state, and he was worried that something worse might happen to her in each second that would be passed.
Supporting her back, Matteo placed one of his arms over her shoulders. Then, he gently put her head between his head and shoulder. To safely uplift her, he slipped her another arm over her legs.
Students, Professors, and staff were starting to crowd the door. Then among them, Lena had made them parted to provide her a way to rush inside. Although she was surprised at how her office became, the spectacle that worried her the most was the sight of Matteo holding Yanarym.
He was carrying her like a princess, his eyes were dark but Lena could discern how gently he was to her. His hand was enveloping her body as if he was safeguarding her, and no one could permeate to that protection.
"Marcus!" Lena exclaimed, "What happened? Why are you here? I thought you would return after two years? And why is Yanarym here?! With these boys yielding their magic?!"
"I have the same questions as well, Lena." He uttered forbiddingly, accidentally landed his gaze at Kraig and Lyndon. He could not help but think of something grim. Again, it was like deja vu.
"They dared to hurt my wife." He uttered dangerously.
"These humans did it again, I could just kill them." Matteo gnashed his teeth in anger but composed himself, he was being considerate because Yanarym was in his arms. If she was not here, he would annihilate this academy.
"I will go home with Rym."
Lena silenced perceiving his wrath. She couldn’t afford to irritate him more than this so she stepped aside and let him carry Yanarym back to the house.
Matteo’s thumbs caressed her skin, slowly, he was interjecting her body with enough energy. As he sauntered to the street on their way home, he could not use any teleportation because mana could harm her.
He was still unable to believe it, he was barely gone for a week, and now, she was already in this mess. Just by holding her delicate body, he didn’t know if he could still leave her side after this day. He laid Yanarym to her bed and tucked her loose hairs, then tugged the quilt to cover her.
"Rym," Matteo uttered her name lovingly, expecting that she would regain consciousness after the long walk and transferring of his energy to her. "Rym?" But his forehead only wrinkled as a result.
His fingers trailed to her cheeks, she was paler than her usual color and sweating cold, the weak palpitations of her heart were concerning too.
Matteo leaned on her and implanted another batch of energy into her body through kisses, yet, no matter how much energy he gave her, her body’s status remained the same.
His brows creased, this wasn’t normal fatigue.
He brushed her hair to see her face and pulled the quilt away. He examined her arms and her neck. It was faint, he didn’t feel it back to the academy, his eyes narrowed in realization, this was a curse, black magic.
"Yanarym, ... Rym?" He called her tenderly but his expression showed anxiousness, "Do you hear me? Rym. Wake up." She wasn’t responding to his call...
Matteo paused and clenched his fist, he was gone just for a week! What the hell!
He shouldn’t have left her, he should have stayed, he knew this was the crucial time of her fate. But he still left to find Azkin...
He blamed himself, he should have known that Azkin would eventually show up even if he didn’t look for her but if he was a moment late to save Yanarym’s soul, he couldn’t ascend with her in heaven.
It was just, he felt Azkin’s presence somewhere, he couldn’t pinpoint it so he tried to find her, yet he returned empty-handed. Worse was when he wasn’t around this happened to Yanarym. He reached out to kiss her temples and tried to elevate the pain she was undergoing through the curse in her body.
He wanted to uplift the curse but he couldn’t because the hatred in this black magic was too strong even for him. He had limited access to his abilities in this human form.
Yanarym brows furrowed and she weakly kicked her feet. "Ugh..." she groaned in difficulty. "Haa!"
"Rym," When he touched her skin, he understood. The curse was starting to be immense. Matteo who was beside her could not elucidate how his emotion was swirling through him. "Wife..."
