Chapter 729: Chapter 55: Predetermined Destiny
Ferdinand heeded the advice of the Lady and stayed another night at Teacup Castle, where he met Li Yu, who arrived on time in Bratis.
"Prophet Merlin." It was the first time the head of the Batoris Family had witnessed the arrival of Li Yu.
Just a moment before, there had been only two people in Miss Rabbit’s study, but the next moment, another dark figure had appeared.
Even Ferdinand, with his strong mind, was startled by this magical scene, but he quickly regained his composure and bowed to Li Yu.
After the dizziness passed, the prophet of the Double Rest Sect could also see clearly the man before him.
"Ah, Ferdinand, did you want to see me?"
"Yes, Prophet, I would like to ask if there is any way to save Lord Hels? He has been captured by those of the Wing Tribe." The head of the Batoris Family said solemnly.
"Hels?" Li Yu raised his eyebrows, then looked at Ferdinand and immediately understood.
"You plan to rescue him?"
"A vassal should never abandon his liege at any time," the head of the Batoris Family stated firmly. "It is the knight’s code."
Knowing his character, Li Yu did not dissuade him further but simply said, "Then simulate it."
"What?"
"Aren’t you planning to go rescue him? You can use the New Holy Artifact to predict the results of your actions."
As he spoke, Li Yu had someone go back and retrieve the Life Simulator for him.
He instructed Ferdinand on how to operate it, considering that his journey might be difficult, Li Yu had him enter five months.
After viewing the results of the first month, Li Yu said, "You don’t need to go."
"What?"
"Hels won’t die."
Upon hearing this, Ferdinand was overjoyed. "Did someone else rescue him?"
"No, he surrendered," Li Yu said indifferently.
Ferdinand was immediately stunned.
"You can’t entirely blame him," Li Yu said. "Solomon didn’t give him any other choices. For most nobles on the Continent, including Hels, the Vespasian Family was already doomed.
"Either they follow them to their doom, or they change their stance. It seems Hels chose the latter."
Upon hearing this, Ferdinand fell silent. "I... do not disbelieve the Holy Artifact’s predictions, but I still want to see Lord Hels’s choice with my own eyes."
"You will die there," Li Yu glanced at the further simulation results and said.
"Even if I die at the hands of those Wing Tribe people..."
"No, the one who will kill you is not those of the Wing Tribe, but Hels. Of course, you can also blame the Wing Tribe, since Hels will kill you to demonstrate his loyalty to them.
"He still dreams of returning to the Western Lands and continuing as their lord... These are the Holy Artifact’s predictions, and they might not be completely accurate."
Upon hearing the last sentence, Ferdinand seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
Knowing what he was about to say, Li Yu shook his head, "Although fate is unpredictable, the Holy Artifact has already given a warning. If you act against advice, you will eventually find yourself swept into the river of fate."
Seeing Ferdinand still hesitating, Li Yu said, "Let me ask you a question."
"If Lord Hels truly betrayed his sovereign, would you still serve him?"
Ferdinand fell into silence once more, this time pondering for a long while before he spoke.
"No matter what, he is my sovereign, Prophet Merlin. You once saved me in the Royal Capital, and I promised I would unconditionally follow your guidance, but on this matter, I have my own convictions."
"Loyalty, a double-edged sword," Li Yu sighed, "then go, do what you must."
A look of gratitude flashed in Ferdinand’s eyes, "I plan to take twenty elite guards on the road. The nobles of Golden Valley are currently battling those Dwarfs, and having too many people might expose us, possibly ending up blocked on the road like Lord Hels and the others."
"Hmm."
Upon hearing this, Miss Rabbit could hardly sit still, unable to bear seeing her friend and important ally of her family, whom she had known since childhood, marching towards his death.
"Ferdinand, you fool, did you hear what the Holy Artifact said? You regard Hels as your lord, but that guy certainly doesn’t regard you as his retainer."
"I need to confirm this myself," said the young Lord.
The Lady was so frustrated that she turned to Li Yu, seeking his help, but this time Li Yu turned his head away.
Ferdinand continued, "After I leave, Ireya, I’ll need you to take care of my lands.
"I will tell my nobles to temporarily follow your orders, and I will also leave you in command of my remaining guards and militia.
"If I die, please bring back my cousin and let him become the new head of the Batoris Family."
Miss Rabbit massaged her forehead, "I know exactly how you will die—you’ll surely die from stupidity. Fine, go ahead and die, I won’t stop you."
Ferdinand nodded slightly, then bowed to Li Yu before he turned and left the study, his steps resolute as he disappeared into the night.
The young lady watched his retreating figure, struggling to suppress the strong urge to send someone to knock him unconscious.
"You needn’t worry about him," Li Yu finally spoke.
"Although I now have many friends, most of them approached me only because of the rise of the Vespasian Family. Only Ferdinand will stand by me no matter the time."
"Our ancestors once forged a pact. That rigid man values it highly, but I had indeed not considered that it could lead to his death."
"He won’t die," said Li Yu, "I just said that off the top of my head."
"Ah?" Miss Rabbit opened her mouth in surprise.
"The Life Simulator’s prediction results show he has more than a 70% chance of turning back midway."
"But that doesn’t sound like Ferdinand at all. That guy would genuinely sacrifice his life for honor."
"But there are some things he cannot sacrifice."
"What things?" The Lady asked curiously.
"Friendship, and an oath," Li Yu answered. "He is driven by an oath to head to Lion Heart Castle, and by another oath to return to the West.
You said your ancestors once struck an ancient pact, so when he hears you are in danger, of course, he will turn back.
"But I definitely can’t tell him this; he would suspect I am making excuses to keep him here," Li Yu explained.
"Are you saying Ferdinand would come back for me?" The Lady had just relaxed when she realized something amiss, "Wait, did you just say I would be in danger?"
"War is coming," Li Yu looked up and gazed out the window into the dark night, "but no matter how many enemies there are, I will help you defeat them."
The tone of the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect was firm.
