Chapter 719: Chapter 45: Children Will Inevitably Rebel

General Solomon was still meeting with two emissaries from the Panglos Family when the banquet hall door was suddenly pushed open from the outside.

After that, a figure carrying a cold breeze walked in from the outside.

"General Solomon, long time no see," said a voice.

"Lannita, when did you arrive on this continent?" Solomon asked, somewhat surprised when he recognized the newcomer.

"Not too early, but fortunately not too late either," she replied with a smile. "My teacher sent me here; the Wizard Association wants to know what stage your conquest plan has reached."

After she spoke, she glanced at the two imperial people in the hall, "Who are they?"

"Imperial nobility ready to pledge their allegiance; their families control the paths to the western side of the Empire."

Lannita laughed out loud, "Lord Solomon, since when have we ever needed a so-called... ’path’?"

"That path isn’t for us," Solomon shook his head, "It’s for our allies. With it, they can cross through Elk Valley to Golden Valley and join forces with the Dwarfs who have already arrived there, defeating the imperial nobility of that land."

"Moreover, they are willing to offer us a valuable prisoner—Hels, the current Family Head of the Figrola family.

"He is the master of the West, and with ten thousand men rode from the far West wanting to save his sovereign. However, by the time he arrived here, the war had already ended.

"He wanted to return to his homeland, but since Golden Valley was also at war, they were blocked midway and had to retreat back to Elk Valley because the Panglos Family generously offered to supply food for his troops.

"That’s a full ten thousand men; losing logistical support and feeding them all isn’t a simple task. Hels had no other options."

"I’m not interested in the specifics... the details; that’s your job, and I have no intention of interfering," Lannita moved aside, picking up a vase from the table to examine it.

"You know it wasn’t easy for the Wizard Association to secure this position for you. Many people, including my father, were interested in being the Expeditionary Army’s commander.

"But in the end, it was you who won, even though for the Wizard Association, it still remains a very, very costly investment."

"I will not forget the aid the Wizard Association provided me at the crucial moment," Solomon said. "I assure you the wizards of the Association will not regret their choice in the future."

Lannita put down the vase, "No, you misunderstand, I’m not asking you to show gratitude. I’m just clarifying the situation to avoid any unpleasantness in our cooperation that might make you resent me."

"I won’t resent you," Solomon said lightly.

"That’s not certain," the girl smiled again, "Regardless, I hope you understand that there’s no personal animosity between us, even though you might have sent my brother to his death.

"But... my arrival is solely to protect the Wizard Association’s investment. From that standpoint, I’m really on your side."

"I didn’t send your brother to his death," Solomon frowned,

"I don’t know where you heard such a thing, but the truth is that your brother disobeyed my orders, taking men to the West on a so-called mission of vengeance which led to his disappearance."

The girl laughed lightly again, pointing at the Panglos Family’s emissaries, "Wait, do you really want these two fools to stay here and listen to us argue?"

"They don’t understand our language."

"But their expressions are so foolish that it is affecting my appetite tonight."

Lord Solomon waved his hand, and then the translator beside him spoke, "Let’s end today’s negotiations here; you can return to the hotel first."

"But we’ve only just started, haven’t we?" a younger envoy asked, puzzled.

However, the wings of Dwarven guards had already closed in. The young envoy didn’t have time to speak again before he was escorted out of the dining room by the guards.

Lannita poured herself a glass of wine and said with satisfaction, "Much better, now we can talk about serious matters.

"The Wizard Association chose you not for your martial arts but for your wisdom. You clearly understand what kind of person Shajia is and know what to say to anger him, right?"

"If you are implying that I deliberately provoked your brother to send him to his death, then you’re overestimating me," Lord Solomon said expressionlessly.

Lannita was nonchalant. "You must have been putting up with him for a long time. My brother is arrogant, narcissistic, impulsive, and completely undisciplined.

"What’s worse, he and his followers think you stole his position as the commander of the expeditionary army. Otherwise, all these achievements would have been his. Tsk tsk, having such an annoying guy around must have been unbearable for you," she reasoned.

"I’ve never thought that way. Shajia is a true warrior, just like your father. He performed well in the previous battles," Lord Solomon denied.

"I am fortunate to have such warriors under my command," he continued.

"Stepfather," the young girl corrected. "I have wings of a different color than theirs."

Lord Solomon ignored her and went on, "I have no reason to kill your brother."

This time, Lannita conceded and did not pursue the subject any further,

"Say whatever you want. My brother hasn’t returned yet. He’s probably dead by now. And since he was my father’s favorite son, how do you plan to explain this to my father?" she demanded.

Lord Solomon fell silent.

"My father’s temper isn’t so good, and he’s not one to listen to reason," Lannita tried a sip of the wine in her cup, finding the taste exquisite.

"What does this have to do with the Wizard Association?" Lord Solomon asked.

"Of course, it does," Lannita replied, "I told you, you are the Wizard Association’s most costly investment. I’m here to make sure this investment doesn’t go to waste."

"Aren’t you afraid your father will find out about your actions?" Lord Solomon scoffed.

"Children are always bound to rebel," the young girl shrugged. "My father will understand."

"What do you want me to do?"

"If I were you, I’d immediately attack the west and wipe out all the imperial people in that land to avenge Shajia.

"Aligning with what you said earlier, even if my father learns about my brother’s death, he wouldn’t be able to blame you," Lannita suggested.

"Wipe out everyone there, do you know how many people live on that land?"

"I heard that place is quite remote. How many could there be, a hundred thousand, two hundred thousand?"

"One million," Lord Solomon corrected.

"Is that so? Then we’d better get started soon." The girl flashed a sweet smile again.
