Chapter 715: Chapter 41 You’re Going the Wrong Way

Li Yu had devoted all his energy to the expansion of the Double Rest Sect during this period, yet, as he observed the continuous in-streaming of faith contributions, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he had forgotten something.

It was only when he glanced at the calendar on his phone and realized it was already February 23 that he remembered that middle school must have started by now.

Li Yu still remembered that An Yixin had apparently had a conflict with several students from her school, and since the opposing side was numerous and powerful, Li Yu had promised to sort this matter out for An Yixin after the school started.

But he hadn’t seen An Yixin around these past few days.

Her mother had already signed the consent form for the performance, but An Yixin hadn’t visited much thereafter.

Li Yu wanted to give An Yixin a call to see how she was doing, but then he remembered that they hadn’t exchanged phone numbers, and though An Yixin lived just upstairs, knocking on her door seemed somewhat inappropriate.

After some thought, Li Yu took out his phone and wallet from his pocket and placed them on the table.

Then, he took off his clothes, opened the bedroom window, performed the Transformation Technique, and transformed into a swallow and flew out.

Through constant observation and practice, Li Yu had now almost completely mastered the flying skills of a swallow.

With an easy flap of his wings, he arrived outside the two-bedroom apartment where An Yixin and her mother lived. After circling half a turn, he noticed that the bathroom window was open and so he flew in.

Upon landing, he had already transformed into a black Persian Cat.

The Persian Cat could hear the "shuffling" sounds of mahjong tiles and laughter coming from another room.

It also sniffed out a trace of smoke in the air.

Thus, it frowned like a human. After transforming into a cat, Li Yu experienced enhancements in vision, sense of smell, and hearing to varying degrees, which was both an advantage and a disadvantage.

It made him easily distracted by nearby environmental factors.

The bathroom door was closed, but that didn’t matter. Li Yu took a running leap, easily grabbed the handle, and under the force of gravity, unlocked the door.

The Persian Cat pushed the door open slightly, peeked out quickly to scan his surroundings, and seeing no one, slipped out of the bathroom.

Li Yu’s target was the room next to the one with the mahjong sounds.

The door to that room was firmly closed.

Li Yu estimated the time; his Transformation Technique could last for about twenty more minutes, so he didn’t hurry and instead lay under the sofa in the living room for a while.

There he found a pair of stockings and a G-string.

Li Yu moved his body a bit farther from the two items and after about five minutes, the door to the mahjong room was pushed open and a man in his early forties, slightly portly, emerged and comfortably turned into the bathroom to relieve himself.

Li Yu took the opportunity to peek inside and saw three people still in the room, one man and two women.

The woman wearing pajamas and smoking a cigarette facing Li Yu looked a bit like An Yixin, presumably her mother.

The man took slightly longer in the bathroom, causing the other three to become a bit impatient and start urging him to hurry up, some even telling lewd jokes, which caused the others to laugh out loud.

The man quickly washed his hands afterward and sat back at the mahjong table, only for the door to be pushed open again shortly after.

An Yixin, holding a notebook and looking downwards, walked in and went straight to the woman in pajamas, "Dictation, I need your signature."

While continuing her game, the woman said, "Put it there, I’ll sign it after this round is over."

An Yixin placed her notebook on the side of the mahjong table, when another woman suddenly said, "Oh, Yixin, there’s a bruise on your face. Did you get into a fight at school? That’s not good. Classmates should get along peacefully."

An Yixin lowered her head and said, "No, I just fell while walking."

After she spoke, she stole a glance at her mother, who played a seven wan tile and was intently focusing on her hand of tiles, "You’re so careless. There’s some red flower oil under the TV cabinet, apply some yourself."

"Okay." An Yixin left the room, closing the door behind her, yet it couldn’t block out the laughter, the sound of mahjong tiles clashing with the table inside.

So, An Yixin put on the headphones around her neck and turned back to her bedroom.

The next morning, An Yixin got out of bed, but there was no movement from the room next door.

An Yixin was no longer surprised by this as her mom often played cards with her friends until three or four in the morning and naturally couldn’t get up early.

An Yixin cooked herself an egg and warmed up half a cup of milk, then, after eating, she picked up her backpack and went downstairs.

However, she didn’t go to school, instead she planned to take the bus across the street and spend the day at a shopping mall.

Just then, a BMW stopped beside her.

Li Yu lowered the window and said to her, "You’re going the wrong way."

An Yixin pretended not to hear and continued walking forward.

"Avoiding won’t solve the problem." Li Yu slowed down, following behind An Yixin, "If it goes on for long, even someone as indifferent as your mom will realize you haven’t been to school.

"Then, how will you explain it to her? Continue lying that you fell?"

When An Yixin heard the last part, her face finally changed, "How did you know I fell?"

This time, Li Yu didn’t answer her question but instead said, "I told you I would help you sort out that day’s trouble, why didn’t you come to see me at the start of school?"

"That’s a school, and adults like you can’t just go in." An Yixin said, "And if you try to lay a hand on Zhang Jingyi and the others outside school, the police will definitely catch you. It’s my own problem, there’s no need to involve you."

"I see you’re quite loyal." Li Yu said, "But your concerns are unnecessary. I have always been a law-abiding citizen."

An Yixin snorted, "Cut it out, that day I saw you nearly killed Wang Kai and Song Xiaofei on the rooftop."

"That was purely self-defense," Li Yu said, "And this time, facing a bunch of minors, I couldn’t possibly use such violent means."

"What are you planning to do?" An Yixin finally stopped.

"You’ll find out when the time comes. Get in the car, or you’ll be late."

An Yixin hesitated for a moment but eventually opened the door and got in.

As Li Yu drove, he recited a series of numbers, "This is my cellphone number, take it down. You can reach out to me whenever you’re in trouble.

"Don’t forget we also signed a contract, remember to come see me for shooting a short video when you’re free."

An Yixin nodded slightly.

About half an hour later, the car stopped outside her school. An Yixin took a deep breath, as if she was heading to her execution, and pushed open the car door.

"Pay attention in class," Li Yu instructed from behind her, "Leave everything else to me."
