Chapter 637: Chapter 10: Eye-Opening Magic
Han Bin considered himself a person of strong mind, yet the sight of that White Ash Tree shook him deeply, causing him to lose his composure momentarily.
However, he quickly remembered the purpose of his infiltration tonight, took out his phone to snap a photo, and continued forward.
The interior design of Red Leaf Manor adopted the Suzhou-style garden favored by many Chinese tycoons, featuring an abundance of trees, flowers, and plants, as well as pavilions, terraces, and artificially created hills and ponds.
And unlike those developments that dare to claim cultural heritage with just a man-made pond and some fancy eaves, the designers here clearly had high standards, fully embracing the unique Suzhou garden feature of creating ever-changing views with every step taken.
Even someone like Han Bin, who was utterly clueless about architecture, found strolling through it refreshing and uplifting.
However, the numerous winding corridors started to disorient him, luckily a roar of a sports car’s engine came to his rescue.
Following the sound, Han Bin finally emerged from the labyrinth-like front court and arrived in front of the main building.
Han Bin crouched behind an artificial hill and glanced towards the building, spotting an Aston Martin parked there.
A young man stepped out of the driver’s seat, of Indian descent, handsome, with a well-built figure, looking like he was born to be a clothes model.
At that moment, a servant approached, seemingly to help open the passenger door, but the young Indian man stopped him.
Instead, he went around to the other side and opened the door himself.
From Han Bin’s angle, he couldn’t see the face of the person who got out of the passenger side, but from the back and the attire, he guessed it was a girl of about ten years old.
Han Bin’s pupils contracted sharply as he remembered Tang Mengjia’s mysteriously missing corpse.
He wanted to take a closer look, but the girl had already entered the building with the Indian man.
Anxious, Han Bin seized the moment when another servant left to park the car, bit the bullet, and set out from behind the artificial hill, heading towards the living room with his head down.
On the way there, he tried his best to remember the servitude and mannerisms of the servant he had encountered, slowing down his pace and trying to appear as relaxed as possible.
Thus, Han Bin made his way across the outer lawn to the front of the main building, while the other servants acted as if they didn’t see him at all.
Han Bin couldn’t believe it was this simple; the servants seemed to be unaware of one another, showing no suspicion at all even as this stranger appeared among them.
But Han Bin didn’t know if they would continue to ignore him as they were doing now if he tried to enter the living room walking past them.
Before Han Bin could take another step, another engine’s roar filled his ears, and it approached quickly—covering the distance from the gate to here in less than a minute.
Han Bin estimated that the person’s speed must have exceeded 400 km/h.
Fortunately, that thing came to a stop about thirty meters behind Han Bin. He turned his head and saw a ridiculously shaped motorcycle.
It had four wheels, an elongated body, and exhaust pipes that looked absurdly excessive.
Han Bin found the design somewhat familiar, and after a moment, he finally remembered seeing this motorcycle in a magazine—it was supposed to be called the Dodge Tomahawk, except its owner had painted it red, which is why Han Bin didn’t recognize it at first.
Moreover, he thought that with such engine capacity, it would be outright illegal to ride it on the streets in China.
Despite such thoughts, Han Bin didn’t forget his current role. With the motorcycle being closest to him and noticing the other servants’ lack of reaction, he had no choice but to take the initiative and walk over to ask,
"Excuse me, do you need assistance with parking?"
"No need," said the Rider as she took off her helmet, revealing a stunning face that surpassed any star or internet celebrity. Combined with her model-like figure, she was captivating enough to make every passing man unable to look away.
But what truly shocked Han Bin was what she did next.
She pulled a folded A4 paper from the pocket of her evening gown right before Han Bin’s eyes, and unfolded it.
The next moment, a majestic Dodge War Axe appeared on the previously empty white paper.
In contrast, the spot where she had parked her motorcycle was now completely empty.
After witnessing this, Han Bin couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air, stepping back half a step, and, unable to control his own emotions, blurted out, "What, what is that, a magic trick?"
"Magic trick?" The woman raised her eyebrows at that, a hint of surprise in her eyes, "Interesting, I didn’t know they added extra expressions and lines for the automata in the manor."
"Automaton, what is an automaton?"
"It’s not important. I’m an employee of the Third Era, here to join tonight’s annual meeting. Take me inside."
"Yes," Han Bin realized he had been somewhat out of sorts just now.
Mainly because what he had seen was just too hard to understand. If he could believe that a blank A4 paper might have been switched out secretly, how could such a large motorcycle simply vanish while it was right there in front of him?
Could there be some mechanism underground?
But why would this woman perform such a thing for him to see, unless his identity had been exposed?
Many thoughts flashed through Han Bin’s mind, but when he looked at the female Rider, her expression did not seem feigned.
Moreover, her words had finally given Han Bin a legitimate excuse to enter the main hall.
So Han Bin could only put his random thoughts to the back of his mind for the moment, leading the way in front of the woman, and brought the Rider into the main building.
What met his eyes was an expansive room roughly the size of six basketball courts.
Mahogany beams and columns structured the room, with a rectangular pool in the center surrounded by floating platforms, on which valuable antiques were displayed.
On either side of the pool, there were sofas and dining tables, as well as a bar at the back filled with bottles of liquor, where a bartender was diligently working.
By this time the living room had already gathered quite a few guests, who were mingling in small groups and chatting about something.
Han Bin spotted the Slav tycoon who had driven him up the mountain earlier, as well as the head of the Bratis Culture Communication branch company, whom he had been keeping a close eye on before.
The latter was now sitting with a mixed-race handsome man, drinking juice, wearing a suit that looked quite sharp.
Li Yu seemed to feel Han Bin’s gaze and even looked up in this direction, but after only half a second, seeing no familiarity, he turned his attention away again.
Hephaestus also glanced this way and then his face suddenly paled, and he quickly lowered his head again.
Han Bin knew he didn’t have that kind of intimidating presence; he was just an ordinary server now. Indeed, the voice of the stunning female Rider reached his ears once more.
"Alright, this is far enough, you can go back to your work," she said.
Han Bin nodded but didn’t leave the living room. Instead, like the other waiters, he found a column made of mahogany and silently stood beside it.
His gaze continued to sweep around the room, yet he didn’t see Tang Mengjia and that Indian handsome man in the crowd.
