Chapter 476: Chapter 94: Wing Chun Asking for Directions Hand
Three young squire knights immediately turned pale upon hearing the news.
Torres couldn’t help but reveal a bitter smile and lowered his voice to Irelia at his side.
"The families behind these three are not simple. The youngest is even the grandson of the Imperial Minister ’Wise Man’ Edmond... When faced with provocation, we must certainly retaliate, but it’s best not to offend them too harshly."
"Sadly, that’s not for me to decide. Uncle, can’t you see they’re specifically here for me today?" the lady said.
Torres fell silent upon hearing this, fully aware that the three freckles came with ill intentions, and not just them.
Ever since Her Majesty had appointed Irelia as a Dragon Slayer Knight, the Royal Knight Order had many squire knights who looked unfavorably upon the lady.
After all, like Torres, many were only a step away from becoming Royal Knights, yet they had been stuck at the final sword-giving ceremony for a long time.
These people were also aware that this wasn’t Irelia’s fault, but they couldn’t vent their anger on the real culprits and thus turned to venting on some minor noble from the borders of the Empire.
But what could knowing this change? Such is the sorrow of the minor nobles.
Despite the Arias family flourishing in the western domain, in the Royal Capital, they were still on the bottom of the food chain.
Here, there were too many powerful and influential noble families with deep roots, and the Royal Knight Order was the place where most of their younger generation concentrated, with even the young wolf not among the top tier.
There was a stringent contempt chain here. People like Torres, who hailed from minor noble families and were fortunate enough to join, had to handle interactions with extreme caution and always be modest.
"Do you know who you are speaking to?" Freckles said grimly. "You’re just lucky, having picked up a bargain. In my opinion, that dragon was probably too old or already dying of illness, which is why you managed to slay it."
"How I managed it doesn’t matter, what matters is that I am now a knight personally appointed by Her Majesty, while you... are still just squires for knights."
The lady said, "Maybe you should go out more and find a dragon that’s about to die of illness or old age; you might have been a knight by now, or perhaps, inside its stomach."
"However, no matter the possibility, at least you wouldn’t be here chattering like a resentful woman in front of me."
"We don’t need to slay dragons," the young wolf scoffed, "just defeating you would prove that we are stronger than a dragon slayer hero."
"Very well, then I shall accept your challenge," Thomas said while his hand was already resting on the hilt of his sword.
However, the three opposite him didn’t move.
"And who are you?"
"I am Miss Irelia’s guard captain, Thomas," Thomas declared.
"We aim to challenge the Dragon Slayer Knight, are you a Dragon Slayer Knight?" Freckles asked.
"Really, you plan to lay hands on a woman? Aren’t you worried that if word gets out, it will be laughed at?" Torres said angrily.
"Her Majesty summoned Sir Irelia to the Royal Capital to participate in the martial tournament to compete with warriors from across the Empire. If so, there’s nothing wrong with us challenging her first," the young wolf said leisurely.
And Hercules had already drawn his sword with a giggling smile, but he promptly planted his sword into the ground beside him.
"Thinking about it, long ears does have a point. I’ll just fight bare-handed with our Dragon Slayer Knight; that way, nobody can accuse me of bullying her."
"Be gentle, Hercules, don’t forget knightly etiquette," Freckles said.
"I’m always gentle, the girls of Golden Alley can testify to that."
Hercules flexed his wrist, his fist almost as big as half of the Lady’s head.
Thomas stood in front of him, unyielding.
"Move aside!"
What surprised the Guard Captain was that the command didn’t come from the big man in front of him, but from behind.
The Lady then repeated, "Move aside, Thomas, he’s here for me."
Not only was Thomas astounded, everyone present was taken aback.
A moment later, the young wolf chuckled lightly, "Ireya of the Arias family, huh? Interesting, you are braver than that long-eared one, what a pity."
As he spoke, his tone shifted again, "Being brave isn’t necessarily a good thing, especially when you lack strength."
"Fighting might not be my strong suit, but I have got Saturday watching over me."
Despite her opponent being twice her size, the Lady was brimming with confidence, "You nobles from the Royal Capital know nothing about the might of Merlin and Saturday."
"Merlin, Saturday? What are those?" Hercules sneered, "Your two lovers?"
"Merlin is the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect, and Saturday is the mortal world’s spokesperson. I’ve met the most intelligent, far smarter than all of you combined. He had already anticipated that someone would come looking for me after my arrival in the Royal Capital, so he taught me a way to solve the problem in advance."
"What method, asking you to surrender?" Hercules advanced close to the Lady, his eyes filled with mockery.
He scrutinized the girl up and down, his gaze unabashed, as if he were sizing up a toy.
"You don’t carry a sword, so I won’t use a sword either."
Miss Rabbit took a deep breath, lowered her center of gravity, tapped her right foot, drawing a semicircle on the ground. Then, transforming her fists to palms, she stretched forward, right hand leading, left hand trailing, posing in the starting stance of the Yong Chun Fist, identical to that of Master Ye.
It was called the Asking Hand.
Not to mention, this stance, never before seen on Bratis Road, did look somewhat intimidating.
Seeing this, Hercules paused, his fist he had planned to swing stopped mid-air as he widened his eyes, curious about the trick the Lady was selling.
And Ireya seized this moment, pressing the Anti-wolf spray in her hand without any hesitation.
The next instant Hercules felt a darkness before his eyes, intense burning and pain filling his eyes and nostrils.
He couldn’t open his eyes and started coughing violently. The more he coughed, the more anti-wolf spray he inhaled. Soon, tears and mucus streamed unchecked.
But Miss Rabbit did not hold back and shouted loudly, "Mighty Saturday, please grant me the endless Thunder Power!"
After her roar, she charged forward, wielding the Electronic Anti-violence Device Li Yu had given her, and gave Hercules a sound thrashing.
Poor Hercules, still struggling to cope with the effects of the Anti-wolf spray, had no extra strength to anticipate the Lady’s next barrage.
Even if he wanted to defend, he had no idea how to counter the unfamiliar Thunder Power.
Knight classes certainly didn’t teach that.
