Chapter 388: Chapter 6 The Heroic Spirit You Summoned is an Idiot
Hirodod’s high-profile return caused a great stir among the noble families of the West.
Especially the bloody and extreme methods of retaliation adopted by the Blood Moon Association, which instilled a sense of unease in many nobles.
The Treles Family was no small noble family; they had managed Red Tower City for hundreds of years and had a security force of more than seven hundred people, in addition to local militia and peacekeeping teams.
Even though they had just suffered some losses from a rat plague and Kamzi was severely impacted, the armed forces in the city were actually not too heavily affected.
However, Hirodod and his Blood Moon Association proved that no amount of arms could stop them.
Before the attack, neither the Treles Family’s guards nor the city’s peacekeeping teams had any hint of the impending threat.
The attackers blended into the city unnoticed and even brazenly appeared in the mansion of the Treles Family.
It was not until Kamzi’s squire knight noticed these malicious intruders that a real fight broke out, and the entire battle ended quickly; the members of the Blood Moon Association seemed to be very familiar with the Treles Family’s defense setup.
They knew where the guards were stationed and how long it would take for reinforcements to arrive. In a very short time, they took over the entire City Lord Mansion and captured Kamzi.
By this time, most of the Treles Family’s guards were still unaware that a battle had even occurred.
Kamzi had tens of times the manpower, but it was completely useless.
His plight also served as a warning bell for other nobles in the West.
Since the Blood Moon Association could descend like divine troops and infiltrate Red Tower City to seize the City Lord Mansion, they could certainly appear anywhere in the West, in any city or fortress, to attack its rulers.
This was because there were too many followers of the Silver Moon Church in the West, including the nobles who also all believed in Pisya; nobody knew which of the family’s guards, maids, coachmen, or cooks might secretly conspire with the Blood Moon Association to betray them.
Some nobles even suspected their own sons and brothers, fearful they might secretly ally with the Blood Moon Association to seize the position of Family Head.
In a short time, the nobles of the West became suspicious of everyone; the pursuit of Hirodod and his allies also became more intense, yet no one was able to truly capture Hirodod.
As for the Green Field area, the Arias family and the Double Rest Sect also strengthened their defenses.
Juan Knight rigorously checked every stranger entering Green Field, while Li Yu found Greta, and said to her,
"It’s time for you to step in; disperse your rats around Green Field. If you see any suspicious groups, report immediately to me, or to Deputy Commander Jude of the Black Hound Squad if I am not around."
Greta nodded without saying anything, lowered her head, and was about to leave when Li Yu called her back.
"You’ve been in Green Field for a while now, haven’t you? How are you finding life here?"
The girl hummed a response, "No matter where I am, my rats will always be with me." She paused, then added, "I have written to the Priest of Cornelia, saying I need to stay in the West for a while."
"I remember you mentioned you have a younger brother," Li Yu said, "I can arrange for someone to bring him over too."
"You needn’t worry about my brother. Although he cannot awaken his bloodline like I can, the High Priest of Cornelia is very fond of him and has been personally teaching him. He will definitely grow to be someone even better than me," Greta replied.
"Is that so? But I think you’re no worse than anyone else."
Greta took two steps back upon hearing this and distanced herself from Li Yu, warning, "Sweet talker. The Priest of Cornelia was right, you heathens never have good intentions."
"It’s not sweet talk. Your staying indeed helped me a lot," said Li Yu.
"Wasn’t it because you all tricked me, making me believe I really owed you and that lady a large sum of money?"
Having reflected over time, the young girl gradually realized something was off about that day’s events.
Damn it, ever since she left the Royal Capital, she had been very careful, but she still suffered from her lack of experience in dealing with humans.
Mainly because Leo, whom she thought was on her side, did not help her but instead, joined Li Yu and Ireya in intimidating her.
Greta, a descendant of a downtrodden Noble Family, didn’t understand the Royal Family’s tact of siding with any that benefit them, utterly lacking in integrity.
"So, you’re still staying on?" Li Yu asked again.
"Hmph, if I had left, you would certainly be furious and take it out on the nearby mice—the way you conduct yourself is questionable, but your methods are quite effective," Greta remarked.
"Not only can you cast curses, you can even bring the dead back to life, but unfortunately..." The girl’s voice dragged mockingly, "the Heroic Spirit you summoned with great effort is a fool."
"I’ve secretly observed him for several days. That guy definitely has a screw loose—he can’t even make a basic fire, can’t dress properly, chops firewood all haphazardly.
"Most crucially, being a grown man... he won’t even eat with his hands, somehow found two little sticks to hold, picking food from the plate with them—the sight was as ridiculous as it gets."
Greta thought her words would anger Li Yu, or at least make him feel awkward, but she didn’t expect his expression to remain calm, as if not at all surprised.
"Hmm, people with special talents and abilities are often easily ostracized and mocked. I thought you would understand such a simple truth."
Li Yu’s words plunged Greta into silence. After a moment, she scoffed, "True misfits are never accepted by others."
"I beg to differ. Opening your heart indeed gives others a chance to hurt you, but if you don’t, you’ll never be able to make new friends. In any case, a person will still feel loneliness, right?"
"I’ve long gotten used to being lonely."
Li Yu merely said, "I hear that misfits tend to find it easier to befriend other misfits."
"Are you talking about that big fool? No, I don’t make friends with idiots. My pet mouse is smarter than him," Greta firmly refused.
"Alright then," Li Yu replied, not insisting further, "if you have any needs, you can find Mary."
Greta waved her hand to show she understood.
Then, she called over a mouse nearby, let it hop onto her shoulder, and the two quickly left Li Yu’s view.
