Chapter 312: Chapter 70 The War God on the Rooftop

The two were talking as they had already arrived outside the rooftop door.

Being quite cautious, they didn’t rush upstairs right away. Instead, they shifted their footing and checked to see if there was anyone hiding near the door.

But the empty rooftop didn’t have a single person in sight.

After exchanging glances, Wang Kai said, "Damn, are they playing us?"

"They shouldn’t be. That person really does have a video." Song Xiaofei couldn’t figure it out, "Where did they get the video? We checked the place earlier; there are no cameras."

"That segment looked like it was recorded with a phone, and crucially, it didn’t seem like it was shot by a resident from above. I feel like the person filming must have been nearby. Do you remember seeing anyone around us at the time?"

"I wasn’t paying attention. There shouldn’t have been anyone passing by at that time," Song Xiaofei said, vexed.

Wang Kai, however, seemed to recall something, "When we ran off that night, I think I saw a little girl at the entrance of the alley."

"Who?"

"The daughter of a Mrs. An, I guess. That woman seems to be divorced, living in Jinhe Garden, playing mahjong every day. She’s buddies with Wang Jiaqi’s mom and has a pretty good figure. Let’s ask around when we get back," Wang Kai suggested.

Wang Kai gave Song Xiaofei a meaningful look, and the latter understood, immediately replying, "Would that kid be that bold?"

"Hard to say, kids these days..." As Wang Kai spoke, he stealthily pulled out a folding knife from his pocket.

This folding knife was something he’d bought just a couple of days ago, having disposed of the one he’d used to stab Li Yu in a garbage station.

With a flick of his wrist, Wang Kai let the blade spring out and, taking an explosive step, he suddenly dashed onto the rooftop.

He intended to catch the other side completely off guard with this unexpected move.

Yet after charging out the door, he still didn’t see a soul.

Until a voice sounded from behind the water tank on top of the building, "Hey, over here!"

Wang Kai felt a sense of foreboding. However, before he could turn around, the person had already jumped down from the water tank and kicked him in the back.

Wang Kai felt a tremendous force from behind. The kick sent him flying forward, rolling several times on the ground. If it weren’t for the parapet, he might have flown straight off the rooftop.

Even though his life was spared, the kick had been severe. He couldn’t get up for a while, and he had no idea where his folding knife had flown off to.

However impressive Li Yu’s kick was, the final phase was slightly lacking in finesse; he also failed to land steadily.

The attack from a higher position was a spur-of-the-moment idea, not the result of special training with Jude. Although he had sent Wang Kai flying, he also ended up falling to the ground. Fortunately, it wasn’t a serious fall, and he quickly got back on his feet after rolling over once.

On the other side, seeing his companion downed, Song Xiaofei also charged forward, but he halted midway.

He gazed at Li Yu, his face looking as if he’d seen a ghost.

Because everything had happened so fast and it was night, Song Xiaofei didn’t get a clear view of Li Yu’s face until Li Yu stood up, and Song Xiaofei had nearly reached him. Only then did he realize who was attacking them.

His body suddenly stiffened!

In the past ten or so days, Song Xiaofei had nightmares almost every night. As soon as he closed his eyes, that face would emerge in his mind. Although this was only their third encounter, Li Yu’s appearance was deeply etched in his memory.

That was why he could confirm instantly that this was the office worker he and Wang Kai had killed that night!

Li Yu also stood up and looked in Song Xiaofei’s direction; their eyes met, and Li Yu flashed Song Xiaofei a smile.

A chill rushed from the soles of Song Xiaofei’s feet to the top of his head in an instant!

He and Wang Kai were birds of a feather, neither fond of studying from their youth, always causing trouble, and had been bullies in class since elementary school, having fought numerous battles. However, he had never felt as panic-stricken as he did now!

Because a person who should have been dead, had reappeared before them.

What was even more bizarre was that Li Yu didn’t look injured at all; his movements were agile, whether it was the kick from above or getting up from the ground, he didn’t seem strained at all, very smooth.

But how could this be possible?!

He had personally witnessed Li Yu being stabbed seven or eight times that day, and only twelve days had passed since then. Even if Li Yu was lucky enough to survive, he should still be lying in a hospital bed.

How could he have healed so quickly? Song Xiaofei’s gaze moved downward, looking at Li Yu’s right hand.

He remembered Li Yu’s right hand was also stabbed that night, but now there wasn’t a single wound on it.

And as if to give him a clearer view, Li Yu threw a right punch, landing it on Song Xiaofei’s cheek.

Song Xiaofei stumbled from the punch and fell to the ground, his brain going blank.

Before he could get up, Li Yu was already on top of him, raising his fist and smashing it down again.

Song Xiaofei had not yet understood his current situation when he took two more punches, not only breaking his mouth but also losing two teeth.

Li Yu still didn’t stop his assault, and Song Xiaofei could only raise both hands, using his rich experience in fighting to protect his head.

After a few more punches, Li Yu took a short break, loosening his tie and removing his suit jacket, which he then draped over Song Xiaofei’s head. He then took out a pair of scissors he had just bought from a stationery store by the roadside, stabbing them with the point down ferociously into Song Xiaofei’s thigh.

Song Xiaofei screamed in agony, but Li Yu had already insulated the sound with his suit jacket, so as not to attract people from downstairs.

While Song Xiaofei reached out, trying to grasp the scissors embedded in his leg, Li Yu continued pummeling his face with more punches, pinning him down.

Not until the blood soaked through the suit jacket covering Song Xiaofei’s head and stuck to Li Yu’s fists, and Song Xiaofei’s struggles grew weaker, did Li Yu stop hitting him.

But before he could rest, there was a thud on his back; Wang Kai, who had gotten up, had landed a solid kick.

Following that, Wang Kai let out a roar and leaped onto Li Yu, also throwing punches at him, shouting, "I don’t care if you are human or ghost; whoever messes with me must die!"

Li Yu didn’t dodge, nor did he adopt a defensive stance; he chose to exchange blows directly with Wang Kai.

As they grappled, Li Yu took two punches from Wang Kai before finding an opportunity to target Wang Kai’s previously broken nose with his elbow.

Li Yu had some time and energy; these past days, he had practiced two moves with the Deputy Commander of Black Hound Guard, one move was for dealing with armed opponents, which he hadn’t used tonight.

The other was the move he named himself, the Rising Dragon Elbow, specifically designed for close-quarters combat.

Wang Kai was bent over in pain, his entire body curving like a shrimp.

Li Yu didn’t hold back; straddling over him, he continued to target his nose, as if he wanted to launch a dimension-reducing strike, pounding Wang Kai’s nose into his face completely.
