Chapter 256: Chapter 14 The Goddess’ Order Will Bless You

The Black Armored Cavalry came swiftly and departed just as quickly, taking advantage of the night to cross the border between the Arias and Pope families and leaving Green Field.

On the Pope family’s territory, not a single person came out to stop them. The guards at that time were all huddled in their stations, busy eating meat and drinking wine, and the only one on lookout outside deliberately turned his back to the wall to relieve himself.

He even purposefully turned his back to the wall to urinate.

By the time he turned his head back, the group had already moved far away.

As the warhorses moved ever farther, the joy on the faces of the Black Armored Cavalry became increasingly pronounced.

For in the entire western borderland, the only ones who might come to Li Yu’s aid were the soldiers of the Arias family and the armed forces of the Double Rest Sect, and coincidentally both these troops were in Green Field.

In other words, once they left Green Field, Prophet Merlin would be at their mercy.

The leading cavalier didn’t know what the person in the sack was feeling at that moment, whether he was becoming increasingly desperate, although the fellow was quite quiet for now.

But he didn’t believe that Li Yu could remain so quiet for long.

Yet the reality was contrary to his expectations.

Li Yu really lay motionless on the back of the horse, as if he had already accepted his fate, not even struggling a bit.

This instead aroused an inexplicable sense of unease in the heart of the leading cavalier, prompting him to stop his horse and order the sack to be opened to confirm that Li Yu was still alive, after all, that important personage had repeatedly insisted on a living captive.

He even briefly removed the cloth that was gagging Li Yu’s mouth, allowing Li Yu to catch his breath.

Afterward, Li Yu’s voice sounded again, "Those two Sabbaths, what did you do to them?"

"Prophet Merlin, you yourself are in no position to care about others. It’s a pity they’re dead, but we didn’t kill them; it was the villagers who did." The leading cavalier relaxed, seeing that Li Yu was unharmed.

"There’s no difference. Here’s a piece of advice for you, from now on, you’d better not come back to Green Field."

"Are you threatening us?" The leading cavalier asked in surprise, "Have you forgotten that you are still our captive?"

His words also triggered laughter among his comrades behind him.

Now that they had escaped danger, the expression on each person’s face relaxed.

Until they heard Li Yu’s next sentence, "The messenger of the True God can never be trapped by the forces of this world."

At first, they did not take these words to heart, not until they had put Li Yu back into the sack and hoisted him onto the horse.

After riding for another half-mile, the leading cavalier suddenly pulled the reins. Because he exerted too much force, his warhorse let out a series of neighs and reared up on its front hooves.

Seeing this, the Black Armored Cavalry behind him quickly slowed down their horses, until at last everyone came to a stop.

The men in the back looked at one another in confusion, not understanding what had happened or why, in just a short time, their leader had called a halt to the troop twice.

The next moment, everyone turned their gaze ahead, only to see the leading cavalier staring blankly at the withered sack in front of him.

From its current shape, it was evident that there was nothing inside anymore.

Seeing this scene, the Black Armored Cavalry’s expressions all changed, with someone saying, "Did he fall out along the way?"

But the leading cavalryman then picked up the sack and carefully checked it, only to find that both the seal and the sack itself were intact and undamaged.

Even though it was night, with so many eyes watching and so many ears listening, Li Yu was such a large living person that if he had really fallen out along the way, it was unreasonable to think that no one would have noticed.

In fact, the leading cavalryman had been glancing at the sack every now and then, his last look being just a few breaths ago when everything was still safe and sound.

Yet, in such a short span of time, the person inside had disappeared.

Such a strange event, if not witnessed with their own eyes, would be deemed unbelievable by anyone.

Considering the last words Li Yu said before he left, many of the people present felt the hairs on their neck stand on end, and couldn’t help but entertain a thought.

—Could it be that Saturday really was the only True God in this world?

Although they served the Silver Moon Church, in truth, they did not worship Pisya but were a group of thorough nonbelievers.

This was because the Silver Moon Church was also aware that the things they did in secret were too dark and bloody, completely at odds with the goddess’ teachings of light and mercy. Should true believers handle these tasks, it wouldn’t take long for their faith to start wavering.

Rather than risking that, it was better to entrust these heartless, lawless nonbelievers from the start.

But that very night, these nonbelievers had just witnessed with their own eyes how Li Yu ran across the water, and then how he disappeared before their very eyes.

The impact it had on them was unprecedented!

They had helped the Silver Moon Church secretly deal with pagans before, but none of those encounters had been as bizarre as this one.

They even turned back and thoroughly searched the vicinity again but found no trace of Li Yu.

The mysterious Foreigner seemed to have simply evaporated unreasonably from the world.

All that was left was a group of Black Armored Cavalry exchanging bewildered glances.

When the leading cavalryman conveyed this news to Hirodod, he was filled with trepidation, unsure whether Hirodod would believe such an absurd tale.

But, to his surprise, Hirodod was only slightly disappointed upon hearing the news, but quickly became very intrigued and asked him to repeat the night’s events over and over.

Especially the moment of Li Yu’s disappearance, Hirodod confirmed repeatedly that there was nothing on him and that his mouth was gagged, before exclaiming in amazement, "Indeed, impressive!"

After pausing, he said to the leading cavalryman, "Good job, the intelligence you’ve brought back is very valuable. Continue to lie low in Green Field, and push for conflict between the Silver Moon Church’s congregation and the Double Rest Sect. Of course, it’s even more important to study the secret of Merlin’s disappearance."

However, this time the leading cavalryman showed a rare hint of hesitation.

Hirodod caught his hesitation and smiled, "What’s the matter, are you afraid?"

"This time, the opponent seems to be different from the previous ones."

"That’s for sure. The Double Rest Sect can even slaughter a giant dragon, and Merlin is a key figure among them. It would be strange if he didn’t have any abilities," Hirodod waved his hand dismissively, "Just tell me straight if you can still do the job. If not, I’ll just replace your squad."

"We can," said the leading cavalryman through gritted teeth. "We’ll set off back there tomorrow."

He was well aware that the person before him appeared humble and gentle, refined and cultured, but those who defied him always met dire consequences. Moreover, since they had been compromised by the Silver Moon Church from the start, they never had any right to refuse in the first place.

Hirodod was satisfied with the answer and smiled at him, "The Silver Moon Goddess will bless you."
