Chapter 141: Chapter 57 Divine Arts Duel
At this point in the competition, a tense expression finally showed on Adelle’s face.
Her spirit was almost at its limit.
In the first three rounds, both sides could be said to have fought to a draw, and now, with one defeat already, if she could not stump Li Yu, the best outcome would be nothing more than a tie with the opponent.
That was something the Church could not accept under any circumstances.
Therefore, seeing a senior gesturing to her from within the crowd, Adelle hesitated no longer and called for Martin.
Martin was a veteran who had once served the Figrola family. His swordsmanship was excellent, and he quickly became the leader of his squad. There was even a chance that he would be chosen as the squire knight for the Marquis’s younger son, Jones, but in a subsequent competition, his thigh was cut with a sword.
Although the herbalist from the Marquis Mansion treated him immediately, his injury did not improve afterwards; it kept recurring and eventually, he had no choice but to amputate almost the entire right leg.
Not only did Martin lose the chance to become a squire knight, he could no longer serve the Figrola family and, after receiving a sum of compensation, returned to the countryside.
He had already accepted his fate, but five days ago, while praying at a nearby temple, he was called over by a priest who told him to set off for Green Field immediately, saying the goddess had her own plans for him.
Martin was a devout follower of Pisya. Upon hearing this, he immediately picked up his walking stick and traveled all the way to the territory of the Arias family from his village.
After so many days of trekking, his skin was darkened by the sun, and he had become much thinner.
However, despite all the hardships, the veteran’s spirit seemed surprisingly good. He stood there with his back straight and looked at Li Yu with sharp eyes.
Li Yu was also sizing him up at the same time.
He was familiar with that kind of gaze, which contained the fanatic’s characteristic determination and devotion. There was also a hint of provocation.
"Prophet Merlin," the Female Priest began, "this is the patient you will be treating next."
"What is his ailment?" asked Li Yu.
Before Adelle could respond, the veteran interjected, "Ignorant heathen, can’t you even see this? I’m missing a leg."
Li Yu did not get angry upon hearing this, but continued to ask the Female Priest, "So, for this round, do you want him to walk without the crutch?"
"No, I hope you can make his amputated thigh grow back," Adelle shook her head and said.
Upon hearing this, the crowd let out a series of exclamations.
No one expected that the medical competition would be so exciting; they had already seen too many unimaginable, magical techniques performed by the two in just one afternoon.
They had just recently marveled at Li Yu’s divine-like painting skills, regarding it as a miracle.
But then, right after, the Female Priest threw out an even more shocking miracle, completely overshadowing Li Yu’s previous limelight!
Limb regeneration! The stuff of legends! This had nothing to do with medicine anymore; it was a true contest of Divine Arts.
Whoever could achieve this would mean their God holds even more formidable power.
Miss Rabbit was stunned as well; unlike the commoners nearby, she had spent a year studying at the Temple, and during that year, she had been in close contact with Adelle.
Ireya didn’t remember her friend being this powerful back then.
Hmm, that little hamster, well, she was just more diligent in her studies than Ireya, a bit gentler in temper, and also particularly good at rubbing shoulders with others. Aside from that, there didn’t seem to be anything special about her.
How did she become a Priest who not only advanced tremendously in medicine but could also summon miracles as if out of thin air!
Miss Rabbit recalled the rumors that had recently spread through Green Field, claiming that Adelle was actually a messenger of Pisya in the mortal world.
At first, when she heard them, she just laughed it off, thinking it was just gossip among the ignorant villagers; however, now Ireya was seriously contemplating the possibility.
Li Yu took a deep look at the young Female Priest.
Then he turned his gaze to the other side, down the mountain slope, Hera had already been escorted back by the Knight with the items he needed.
The girl did not rest for a moment, and as soon as she dismounted, she hurried over to Li Yu, gasping for air, holding a small plastic bottle.
Li Yu took the plastic bottle from her hands, patted the girl’s head, and said, "You’ve worked hard, go to the castle and have something to eat, take a rest."
"I’m not tired," Hera hesitated for a moment, "Prophet, I would like to stay and watch your competition, if that’s okay."
"There’s nothing much to see," Li Yu said, "The competition will be over soon, go back to the castle and wait for me."
Hera had heard the cheering of the crowd when she arrived, all of whom were followers of the Silver Moon Church, and of course, cheering meant nothing good, so the girl couldn’t help worrying for Li Yu.
But seeing that his expression was as calm as usual, and his tone of voice was as even as always, a lot of the panic in Hera’s heart dissipated, and she nodded her head, obeying Li Yu’s words and heading straight back to the castle.
Afterward, Li Yu also borrowed a little copper basin from Miss Rabbit.
He opened the plastic bottle and poured its contents into the basin.
It looked like the little bottle only contained clear water, colorless and transparent.
And Li Yu’s subsequent action seemed to confirm this, as he dipped his right hand in and washed it.
He then approached the old soldier Martin and asked, "May I check it now?"
Martin snorted coldly and rolled up his trouser leg.
Indeed, there was nothing there; Li Yu looked and then said to the old soldier, "Can I take a look at your arm as well?"
Martin furrowed his brow, "It’s my leg that’s busted, not my arm, why do you want to see my arm?"
"I’m a Physician, you just need to cooperate with me," Li Yu didn’t offer further explanation.
Martin grumbled a few times but eventually took off his robe, then unbuttoned his shirt to reveal his arm.
The next moment, Li Yu reached out and took hold of his forearm near the elbow.
The old soldier felt a moist and warm sensation from Li Yu’s palm, which made him frown even more deeply.
However, Li Yu soon let go of his hand, then called over Thomas, who was in charge of maintaining order, as well as two other soldiers, and touched each of their left chest, right ribcage, and back.
Under the puzzled gazes of those around, he went back to Martin, asked him some basic questions, then approached Adelle and said to the Female Priest, "I just checked, and I found I can’t cure it."
Adelle’s heart, which had been hanging, finally relaxed after hearing these words.
There were too many things about Li Yu that she couldn’t understand, and the Female Priest had genuinely been worried that Li Yu might have a way to even heal a broken leg.
It wasn’t until Li Yu voluntarily surrendered that she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After calming her spirits slightly, she spoke, "Then according to the rules, I shall take care of Martin’s healing."
