Chapter 554: SS4: The Start of Another Love Story
"Oh, the emcee is here."
"I think they’ll appear soon."
"Hehe, I can’t wait. It’ll be so romantic~"
Following the guests’ chatter, the emcee spoke through the mic.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The bride, the groom and their little princess are here. The celebration of their love begins now."
The gentle murmur of conversations fell silent as the emcee’s voice rang out, clear and warm. The man, dressed immaculately in a three-piece suit, was standing on the left side of the altar.
The melody shifted as the quartet played a different symphony for the moment.
All heads turned toward the end of the aisle, where the bridal party was preparing to make their entrance. The guests, clearly anticipating the moment, exchanged hushed whispers.
The rose-lined white carpet aisle seemed to glow under the soft morning sunlight. The cool spring breeze carried the scent of blooming flowers.
The bridesmaids; Irene, Evelyn, and Amelia, appeared first. They were radiant in pastel purple dresses, mirroring the season’s gentle hues.
Amelia led the way, carrying a basket filled with rose petals. She began tossing the velvety petals, followed by Irene and Evelyn.
The petals created a trail of soft, fragrant confetti. They eventually fluttered to the ground, framing the path for the bride, groom and their child would soon walk.
"Oh, Evelyn is here."
"Look, isn’t that her actress friend with CEO Qin?"
"Hush, the ceremony starts now. Don’t gossip ah."
As Evelyn, Irene and Amelia reached the altar, the melody changed again. The instrumental piece set the perfect tone for the lovely entrance.
Calix, Leslie and Calliope appeared, earning a collective sigh from the crowd.
The groom was dashing in a tailored white suit, complementing his towering and fit figure.
The bride was a vision of beauty in her floral-embroidered white gown, the delicate roses cascading down the fabric.
The little dumpling, donning a tea-length white dress with rose appliques matching the bride, standing in between her mama and papa.
Holding hands together, Calix and Leslie led Calliope down the petal-strewn aisle. The little dumpling gazed at the guests as they waved and clapped, celebrating the unity of the family bound by love.
"Mama, Papa," Callioped tilted up, looking at the smiling Leslie and Calix, her voice filled with wonder, "Everyone look happy ah. Are they happy for us?"
"Yes, my darling," Leslie chuckled, her face beaming with radiance, "They’re happy for us."
"Are you happy too, my buttercup?" Calix squeezed Calliope’s tiny hand, his voice was more upbeat than usual.
"Yes!"
Calix and Leslie exchanged a loving gaze, the precious moment captured by the team of videographers. They continued walking, their steps slow until they eventually reached the altar.
The music softened to a gentle hum as Leslie and Calix stood facing each other, with the officiant in the middle. Calliope remained by their side, standing near Leslie.
After the officiant said his piece, Calix began with his vows. He took Leslie’s hands in his, his eyes shimmering with emotion.
"I knew my life would never be the same from the moment I met you. The strength of your kindness and patience hold the depth of your love. Today, I promise to always be with you and our beautiful daughter."
Calix’s vow was short but, the sincerity behind his words glistened Leslie’s eyes with tears. Her lips trembled into a radiant smile as she calmed herself before reciting her vow.
Squeezing Calix’s hands, Leslie parted her lips, her voice softly resonating in the air, capturing his attention.
"You’ve been my rock, my safe place and my greatest love. I vow to nurture the love we’ve built and to cherish every moment that we share as a family. You can Calliope are my everything. I wish to walk through this life together with you."
Their words brought a wave of emotions through the gathered guests.
Old Madam Xu, Harper and Lucille wiped their eyes discreetly. Vernon and Andrian smiled proudly as they witnessed Calix and Leslie’s union.
Xander, Violet, Davin and Ryken, wished for a blessed union for their friends. Edward, Aunt Wendy and Uncle Raymond also prayed for the same.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife."
Waves of cheers erupted, following the officiant’s declaration. The guests also applauded, the echoes rising above the soft melody.
Calix and Leslie shared a kiss—a sweet and heartful moment. Then, he hoisted Calliope up before they smooched the little one’s face, earning infectious giggles from their daughter.
As the ceremony concluded, the reception swiftly began. The guests moved to the tables, draped with soft linens and adorned with floral centerpieces.
Calix and Leslie moved through the crowd, being showered with congratulations and heartfelt wishes. Calliope stayed close, charming everyone with her bubbly personality.
Eventually, the bride and groom reached where Xander, Violet, Ryken and Davin sat.
"Poppy! Oh, you look so cute!" Ryken waved at Calliope, "Do you like it? Watching your papa and mama getting married?"
"En, en!" Calliope nodded enthusiastically, showing how much Ryken’s guess was correct, "Poppy like everything~"
Leslie nudged Calix’s elbow, giggles slipping out between her lips. He chuckled, able to guess what was in his beloved’s mind.
Having their daughter at the wedding made the moment more memorable and precious. Neither Calix nor Leslie would ever trade it for the world.
"Dear our bride and groom, it’s time for your first dance!"
The emcee’s announcement piqued everyone’s attention. The music shifted to a lively tune, signaling the start of dancing.
"Well, it’s time for our dance," Calix held Leslie’s waist, pulling her closer. Mischief glinted in his eyes, "Shall we, my bride?"
Giggles bubbled up from Leslie’s lips. Nodding, she mused, "It’s my honor, my groom."
The husband and wife moved to the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by the applause and attention from their guests.
Calix rested his hand protectively on Leslie’s waist, while she gazed up at him with a smile so radiant, resembling the sun in the spring sky.
"We should dance more later, sweetheart," whispered Calix as he began dancing.
Leslie let out helpless laughter, her heart flooding with joy, "Hehe, I won’t say no to that, honey."
A little later after the first dance began, more joined the bride and groom on the dance floor.
Evelyn and Irene formed a circle with Calliope in the center, followed by the little one’s friends from the care home. Amelia joined along, having fun dancing with everyone.
Andrian invited Harper for a dance to which the lady accepted. Vernon and Lucille also did the same. They swayed gracefully on the dance floor, exchanging affectionate glances.
All of the guests were having fun, including the initially brooding Gerard.
"Oh? They dance too?"
Leslie’s eyes strayed to one side of the floor, her reaction drew Calix’s attention.
"Why? Xander and Violet? They surely..."
Calix trailed off once he spotted the couple Leslie was looking at. He initially thought his wife referred to the reconciled male lead and female lead, but...
"Honey," Leslie leaned closer, her voice tingeing with excitement, "Is this the start of Edward’s love story? After so long?"
"Seems like it."
Far from the middle of the dance floor, Edward was dancing with Theresa. The shy yet beaming look on their faces mirrored one another.
