Chapter 549: May I Wish For Your Heart?

Leslie couldn’t help but wonder how quietly Calix and Calliope moved. They successfully vanished when she was taking her time bathing.

"What’s he planning?" Leslie mused, her countenance softening as warmth flooded her heart.

Placing the card on the mattress, Leslie gazed at the bed. An elegant, caramel-colored autumn dress in her size lay there.

Leslie couldn’t deny that her heart fluttered in excitement. Seeing that the clock had struck six-thirty, she quickly got ready.

Leslie slipped into the dress after taking off the robe covering her figure. The soft fabric complimented her figure well. The hem of the pleated skirt fell just below her knees.

"Hehe, another dress from Lavender Thread."

Leslie sighed in awe, wondering when Calix got this new long-sleeved dress and whether he had told Logan to keep it for him since yesterday.

The only jewelry Leslie wore was the sapphire necklace Calix got for her. It had been her favorite piece to wear every day. She made her way to the door once she was done with her makeup.

"...oh?"

Once Leslie opened the door, she found a shuttle cart waiting for her outside. Instead of the plain usual one, delicate flowers adorned the railings and the pillars beneath the cart roof.

The driver stood before the cart. Smiling at Leslie, he bowed slightly before gesturing to the cart, "Mrs. Xu, are you ready?"

"Yes," Leslie nodded, followed by a delighted chuckle. Climbing onto the cart, she settled on one of the seats.

The driver began driving the cart down the road, bringing Leslie to where Calix and Calliope were.

’He will outdone himself again. Aiya, I’m so spoiled.’

The smile on Leslie’s lips softened as she glanced around the cart. The light breeze carried the scent of the fresh blooms. She ran her fingers on the velvety petals, wondering what else Calix would surprise her.

The cart brought Leslie further down the road. She no longer saw the cabins of the chalet. The street was the one heading to the pier.

’Where’s everyone?’

Leslie had come to this pier yesterday. It was near the bamboo rafting service. She couldn’t help but wonder if Calix had arranged for the place to be emptied of other visitors.

"...?"

Leslie’s breath hitched as her eyes widened when the driver turned a corner.

The wooden pier before her had transformed into a scene straight out of a fairy tale!

As the cart approached the pier nearer, Leslie could properly see everything.

Mason jars filled with flickering candles lined the edges of the wooden walkway of the pier, their soft glow was reflected on the water. Luscious blooms framed the pier, adding a romantic touch, and...

A big white yacht, illuminated with strings of fairy lights, waiting at the end of the dock.

Also...

"Poppy?"

Leslie whispered to herself, surprised to find Calliope standing in the middle of the pier. The little dumpling donned an adorable dress, matching the lady’s.

"We’ve arrived, Mrs. Xu," announced the driver once he pulled up right next to the pier, "I hope you enjoy the romantic night with your husband and daughter."

"Thank you, mister."

Leslie carefully stepped out of the cart, heading to where Calliope was. The little dumpling’s face lit up with a proud smile as her mama came closer.

"Poppy," Leslie bent down, tucking one strand of her hair behind her ear, "Are you here alone? Papa... your papa is up there?"

Calliope nodded when Leslie pointed to the yacht. The little dumpling happily exclaimed, "Mama, Poppy come to bring Mama to Papa. Let’s go!"

Leslie chuckled, her heart warming at the sight. Lifting one hand, she gently caressed Calliope’s face, "Okay. My darling, you look so pretty."

"Hehe~ Mama is pretty too."

Calliope giggled when Leslie embraced her tiny frame. She loved the familiar floral scent of her mama, it reminded her of the flowers in the yard of their home.

Hand-in-hand, Leslie and Calliope walked down the pier, the candles casting an ethereal glow around them. Her heartbeat quickened as they approached the yacht.

"Poppy, be careful."

Leslie reminded Calliope as they climbed the stairs. The little dumpling continued giggling. Eventually, they reached the deck.

"...Calix."

Once Leslie and Calliope stepped onto the deck, they saw Calix standing at the end of it.

His frame seemed to encase in a glow coming from the fairy lights entwining the railings. A sea of fresh red roses covered the surface of the deck.

Leslie didn’t stop there. She and Calliope slowly approached Calix. Seeing the man, her beloved, dressed in a tailored navy suit deepened the curl on her lips.

"Hehe, what kind of surprise is this?" asked Leslie once she paused a few feet from Calix, "Are you trying to outdo yourself?"

Leslie’s question earned a sheepish look from Calix. Lowering his gaze, he saw Calliope clutching her hands into fists, seemingly trying to encourage him.

"Sweetheart," Calix began as he returned his gaze to Leslie, his mellow voice carried by the breeze, "There’s something I want to ask you."

Leslie blinked, catching the slight tremor at the edge of Calix’s voice. Her pulse quickened as her heart told her something entirely different, perhaps wonderful, waiting for her.

"...what is it?" Leslie asked, unconsciously lowering her voice.

The world seemed to slow as Calix dropped to one knee, a velvet box appearing in his hand as if by magic. Leslie gasped, her hands covering her mouth in surprise.

"Leslie, my love," Calix began, his voice shaky, brimming with emotion, "If there is something I regretted, it is this."

Leslie’s heart raced, ramming rapidly against her chest. Her eyes remained on Calix, every word he spoke traveled to her heart.

"We’ve weathered every storm, even reunited when... we thought it was impossible. May I wish for your heart and for forever by your side?"

Under Leslie’s glistened eyes, Calix opened the box, revealing a diamond ring that shimmered like autumn sunlight. Beside her, Calliope covered her mouth with both hands, holding back an excited squeal.

Wow!

Her papa proposed to her mama like in the princess stories!

She was so happy! So so so happy!

Calix and Leslie were still immersed in the moment. The man parted his shaky lips, whispering softly as his gaze and voice dripped with affection.

"Leslie Song, my sweetheart, forever. Will you marry me?"

"Y-yes!" Leslie choked on her sob, tears filling her eyes. Kneeling to Calix’s level, she whispered, "Yes... Axel, Axel Liu... My love, a thousand times, yes."

She wished for forever by his side too.
