Chapter 461: A Blissful Moment at the Beach

The family of three headed to the shoreline around three in the afternoon. They took a quick nap while enjoying the sea breeze flowing inside their rooms.

Calix, Leslie and Calliope dined with Aunt Wendy and Uncle Raymond a moment ago to replenish themselves. The older couple planned to take a stroll at another part of the beach.

The sun hung lazily on the sky, casting a warm and golden hue over the island. The giant ball of light basked its warmth over the family of three.

Calix brought a basket of cold drinks and snacks while Leslie carried a tote bag of towels. The excited Calliope hugged her adorable pink floating ring. All of them had already changed into swimsuits.

"Walk slower, sweetheart," Calix glanced at Leslie by his side, "Take your time."

"Hehe, what’s supposed to be a five-minute walk, got doubled because of me."

Leslie laughed in helplessness, lamenting her lack of physical strength to walk as usual. Instead of using the wheelchair, she opted to walk.

"Doesn’t the sand feel good?" Calix grinned, his eyes shifting to Leslie’s bare feet before once again he looked at her face, "Isn’t your wish to walk on the beach?"

"Yes! I’m happy ah. I get to walk right now."

Calix’s heart melted into a honeyed gooey mess when Leslie’s whole countenance beamed with delight. He still remembered how often she said out loud about wishing to feel the sand during their beach trip.

The sound of the waves echoed louder in the air with each step. The rhythmic crashing of the surf harmonized with Calliope’s laughter as she suddenly dashed to the shoreline.

"Poppy! Don’t run! Wait for Papa and Mama!"

Calix shouted at the little figure in the pink swimsuit. Ignoring her papa’s words, Calliope alternated between skipping and running, her little feet kicking up soft puffs of sand.

"Papa! Mama! Quick!"

Turning to look at her parents, Calliope yelled back, her lips widening into a grin. Her eagerness was evident through her sparkling eyes and shouts of joy.

Unable to stop herself, Leslie laughed, "She has just recharged her battery ah. Don’t expect her to slow down."

"Aiya..."

Calix and Leslie eventually reached the area near the bank. Calliope crouched at the shoreline, seemingly happy to feel the waves kissing her tiny feet.

"Let’s put our things here."

"Okay."

Four sun loungers were placed under two giant and colorful umbrellas, a perfect place to relax while enjoying the melody of the waves and the salty breeze.

"Mama, Papa, come and play!"

Calliope’s voice broke through the air, once again reminding Calix and Leslie about their daughter’s boundless excitement.

"Coming!"

The husband and wife put the items on the table before they joined their daughter at the shoreline. The little one giggled, her happiness was contagious enough to lure laughter from her parents.

"How about Papa throw you into the sea, en?" asked Calix once he and Leslie reached Calliope. He deliberately showed a smug look on his face.

"No! Cannot throw Poppy! Mama, help!"

Pouting, Calliope blinked her round eyes at Leslie. The lady burst out laughing. She crouched opposite the little one, still amused by her daughter’s sad look.

"Why not do this to your Papa?"

"En?"

Both Calix and Calliope stared at Leslie with interest on their faces. The lady bit her lower lip, trying not to laugh before...

Splash!

"Sweetheart!"

"Aaaa hahahaha!"

Calix was stunned when Leslie scooped up the water and splashed him. Calliope quickly followed the lady’s actions.

The mother and daughter laughed together, letting the breeze spread the merry sound in the air.

"Brrr!"

Calix rapidly shook his head before standing with both hands on his hips. He swept his eyes from Leslie to Calliope, locking his gaze on the little dumpling.

"Seems like someone wanna get thrown into the sea."

"...no!"

Sensing the incoming danger, Calliope turned around and ran over the shoreline, splashing water here and there. Her action earned chuckles from Leslie while Calix quickly chased her.

"Papa! No! Don’t throw ah!"

"Hahaha! Who splashed water just now?"

"Sorryyyy!"

Calix scooped Calliope up into his arms, pretending to toss her into the sea. The little one in the pink swimsuit tightened her arms around her papa’s neck, afraid of falling.

Leslie’s tummy was almost cramped from all the laughing. She simply sat at the bank with her legs stretching out, feeling the waves coming and going.

This was simply blissful.

Calix looked over Calliope once she started floating using the ring. Leslie ended up joining them. The water buoyancy helped her to stay upright, lessening the pressure on her legs.

After swimming, Calix and Leslie accompanied Calliope building a sandcastle. The little one eagerly decorated the structure with the shells she found.

"Mama, Papa, pretty, right?"

A proud Calliope stood behind the sandcastle, showing her satisfaction with her creation. The joy on her face reflected a child’s naivety.

"Wow! Papa’s buttercup is so talented ah! Will you be an architect in the future?"

"Mama loves the sandcastle so much! Aww~ Poppy’s so skillful ah! Hurry! Let’s take photos with it!"

Her parents’ applause and praise widened the smile on the dumpling’s small face. A pink shade tinted her chubby cheeks. Her heart swelled with all the love and affection she received from her parents.

The family of three left the beach around six in the evening. The sun slowly descended to the horizon yet, the summer day was still long.

"Look at how tired she is," mused Leslie, her eyes fondly looking at the sleeping Calliope in Calix’s arms, "Hehe, she’ll just repeat it tomorrow."

Calliope drained all of her energy by playing continuously at the beach. She only stopped to drink, eat and get lathered with sunscreen.

"Let’s tour the island tomorrow morning," uttered Calix. His gaze shifted from Calliope to Leslie, "We can have breakfast at the beach."

"Okay! Let’s do that."

Exchanging a smile, the husband and wife slowly walked ahead, leaving trails of footsteps behind as the sunlight sprinkled on their backs.
