Chapter 449: I Have Found Him

"Sister Poppy~"

"Mia~"

Two dumplings deng deng deng ran toward each other once Calix and Leslie brought Calliope inside the ancestral home. The little ones hugged, creating an adorable image.

All the adults were there, excluding Old Madam Xu who most likely sat somewhere else waiting. They stared at the two small cousins hugging with amusement in their eyes.

Aiya. The little ones acted as if they hadn’t met for years.

"Let’s go to the lounge," Andrian bent down before patting Calliope and Amelia’s tiny heads, "Poppy, wanna tell us about your visit to the chocolate museum?"

Andrian’s suggestion conjured dazzling sparkles from Calliope’s round eyes. Amelia’s tiny mouth formed an O shape as she began to drool. Their silly expressions earned laughter from everyone.

"Grandpa, Poppy brings many many chocolate ah," said Calliope after coming out of her momentary trance, "Many, many. For everyone!"

"Aww~ That’s so sweet of you, Poppy. Mia will love that," exclaimed Harper whose heart melted into a puddle from her adorable granddaughters’ antics, "Come, let’s get inside."

"Your Great-Grandma is waiting for you ah. Come."

"Okay~"

"Mia follow too."

Calix and Leslie simply exchanged a smile with Vernon, Lucille and Evelyn. Andrian and Harper’s full attention was already snagged by the little Calliope and Amelia.

Walking down the hallways, the adults chatted a little.

Calix slowly pushed Leslie’s wheelchair. She brought her cane along but, she didn’t intend to walk all the way from the entrance to the lounge.

"The museum was nice, wasn’t it?" Vernon raised his brows, throwing a knowing look at Calix and Leslie, "We’ve brought Mia there thrice but, she wanna go there again."

Vernon’s story elicited laughter from Lucille. She cheerfully added, "Who knows? We can have a trip there together someday. I think Mia and Poppy will love it."

"Oh... that sounds fun," Leslie was in awe. She nodded, "Hehe, the kids will surely enjoy the trip a lot."

"I wanna tag along!" Evelyn raised both hands, excitement flickering in her eyes, "Let me join too ah. I think Mom and Dad wanna join too. As for Grandma, only if she feels up to it."

Wasting no time to tease his younger sister, Calix pretended to side-eye Evelyn, "Are you sure? Your fans will flock to you ah. Don’t blame us if you die drowning because of them."

Evelyn remained smiling but a chill frosted her eyes. Raising one hand, she unceremoniously slapped Calix from the back.

Pap!

"Ow! Why, you?!"

Hissing, Calix glared at Evelyn. She stuck out her tongue, expressing how annoying her second brother was.

"I’ll throw you at them before they come to me ah."

Leslie, Lucille and Vernon laughed at how childish Calix and Evelyn could be. All three of them tacitly understood the two siblings wouldn’t ever stop bantering even when they turned old folks.

"Grandma, good morning."

"How have you been, Grandma?"

Calix and Leslie greeted Old Madam Xu as soon as they entered the lounge. The elderly lady’s whole face was beaming with joy. Calliope and Amelia huddled close to her on the couch.

"Good, good, I feel better these days," Old Madam Xu replied chirpily. She looked from Calix to Leslie, "Did you enjoy the museum trip? Poppy here has been gushing about it."

Calliope laughed while covering her mouth upon Old Madam Xu’s words. Heat emanated from her cheeks, spreading the pink color across her little face.

"She’s the one who enjoyed it the most," Leslie chuckled, acknowledging her little daughter’s happiness, "Sister Lucille has just suggested... we have a family trip there."

"Oh? That’s marvelous! Poppy, Mia, aren’t you happy?"

Calliope and Amelia looked at each other, their eyes overflowing with sparkles before they stared at their respective parents. The adults giggled seeing the dumplings’ anticipation.

"Here, we get everyone some chocolates."

Calix took a huge paper bag hanging from Leslie’s wheelchair handle. Calliope and Amelia collectively slid down the touch, hurrying to the man.

While Calix brought everything out of the paper bag, Leslie stood up from the wheelchair to sit on the couch. Evelyn hurried to assist her.

"This is for Mia! It spins!"

A happy Calliope proudly held up a box. Everyone could see the carousel-shaped chocolate through the transparent front cover. Each horse and other details were intricately carved.

"Oh! It’s so cute!"

Amelia held the box before showing it to Vernon and Lucille with a blushing face. She also did the same to Old Madam Xu, her grandparents and Evelyn.

Calix grinned seeing his little daughter and his niece interact. He placed two identical boxes on the table. Chocolate in the shape of books was lined up inside them.

"For Grandma, Mom and Dad," Calix said before explaining, "Classic flavors of dark and milk chocolate but with little twists for each."

"Thank you," Old Madam Xu delightedly accepted the gift. She threw a threatening look at Andrian, "Don’t you dare report me to my doctor. I’ll twist your ear."

"Mother..." Andrian let out a helpless sigh, unsure whether to laugh or cry, "Think of your health ah. You need to eat anything in moderation."

"Humph!"

Calix and Leslie exchanged some laughter before the rest followed. The former continued with his chocolate distribution.

Vernon, Lucille and Evelyn received their share each. As everyone admired the unique traits of each chocolate, the maids arrived with a fine selection of drinks, both iced and non-iced.

"Enough with chocolate for us men," declared Andrian after almost one hour spent in the lounge. Looking at Vernon and Calix, he said, "Come, follow your old dad here."

"Seems like you’ll talk about business again with Calix ah," Harper nudged gently at Andrian’s right arm, "Can’t you skip it on the weekend? Vernon, you’ll join too?"

"Aiya, darling, we’ll be back soon," replied Andrian while rising to his feet. Winking at Harper, he added teasingly, "Don’t tell me you’ll miss me already?"

"Urgh... shoo!"

Harper smacked Andrian’s back, earning laughter from everyone. He walked away, followed by his two sons. The hearty mood dissipated as soon as the men stepped out of the lounge.

"Calix, what kind of urgent thing you mentioned to me, en?" asked Andrian in a low tone, referring to a private message from his second son. Vernon quietly assessed them.

"I’ve found him," Calix frowned, his countenance turned grim, "Nicholas Wu. I’ve found him."

"...what?"

Andrian and Vernon froze. Neither of them expected to hear such a declaration from Calix.
