Chapter 444: The Chocolate Museum Trip
After tucking Calliope to sleep that night, Calix shared the details about his meeting with Mr. Guan this afternoon with Leslie. She quietly listened to him as they cuddled on the swing chair on the balcony.
"There’s not much we can do for now aside from looking for Nicholas. I’ve tightened the security. More eyes will be watching us. It’ll be uncomfortable but, it’s the best measure so far."
Calix let out a heavy sigh. He pulled Leslie closer to him, seeking her warmth. Her head nestled in the crook of his neck.
Her warmth was not the only thing that helped in alleviating his tension. Her sweet, comforting scent and the rhyme of her heartbeat also ease his uneasiness.
Hearing the evident concern in Calix’s voice distressed Leslie. She reached for one of his hands, interlocking their fingers together.
His calloused palm grazed on her soft one, fitting perfectly with each other.
"That’s the best measure," whispered Leslie, reiterating Calix’s words as she tried to reassure him. Her voice resembled the calm night breeze, "I understand your worry, honey."
Instead of having a dream about Nicholas Wu as how she was with Violet and Evelyn’s incidents[01], Leslie learned about him through Mimo. The crochet fox toy explained the last obstacle.
"Won’t I get a vision about him? Like I did before?"
|You’ll receive a vision about him, Leslie. But, this isn’t the time yet.|
Leslie was frustrated when Mimo gave the disappointing answer but, she quickly recomposed herself. She was lucky enough that the crochet toy was able to share about Nicholas Wu even before she acquired the vision.
At least, Calix could already start the search. His men exhausted all resources to reach success on their side.
"Let’s not put our focus on it too much," Leslie tilted her chin up, smiling at Calix, "Our daughter’s looking forward to the chocolate museum trip."
"She keeps asking me about that," Calix chuckled, recalling Calliope’s countless questions about the chocolate museum. The tensed lines on his countenance faded.
The family of three would head to the museum this Saturday morning, bringing along suitcases for their staycation at the nearby hotel. Calix booked a suite for them.
Calix was initially concerned about bringing Leslie and Calliope out but, he quickly shut down his excessive worries. Doing so would be detrimental to all of them.
Smiling in helplessness, Leslie saw the lingering concern in Calix’s eyes. She propped herself up, brushing her lips on his cheek.
"We’ll make good memories with our daughter. Hehe, it’ll be even better once we go on our island trip."
Calix carved his lips into a smile. Nodding once, he uttered, "Yes, it’ll be even better."
Her smile softening, Leslie silently wished no harm would fall on her loved ones. She couldn’t afford to lose her lover and their daughter again.
Drawn by the affection in Leslie’s eyes, Calix dipped his head in, silently claiming her lips. His heart beat rapidly when she readily returned the kiss, following the pace of his passion.
Calix moved his lips to Leslie’s neck, gently sucking her soft skin.
Her fragrance intoxicated him, clouding his mind with heightened desires. Her suppressed yet sweet moans aroused him but, he quickly held himself back.
Despite his yearning, this was not the right time for them yet. He couldn’t help but worry about her health.
Tightening his arms around her, he whispered, "I love you, sweetheart."
His ardent whisper earned a smile from her.
"I love you too, honey."
No matter who he was, she truly loved him.
"Time to sleep, honey," Leslie chuckled as she tapped one finger on Calix’s cheek, "You have work tomorrow."
"Urgh, I do," Calix groaned, his face frowning, "I can’t wait for the weekend."
"Hehe~"
Calix carried Leslie to bed instead of letting her walk. She smilingly accepted his gesture, enjoying the free passage in her husband’s arms. The couple snuggled on the bed, retiring to sleep.
There was no news on Friday. Calix didn’t let it bother him too much as he, Leslie and Calliope headed to the chocolate museum on Saturday morning.
"Chocolate~ yummy yummy~ Poppy is coming~"
A happy little Calliope continued singing the made-up song as she sat in the child’s car seat. She and Leslie wore the traditional dress Calix brought back from his business trip.
"Let’s explore the museum first," Calix smiled at the singing Calliope, "We’ll go to the hotel at one to rest before continue, okay?"
"Okay~"
Logan quietly drove in the front with Allen sitting by his side. Despite the merry ambiance inside the van, they were on high alert due to Calix’s recent instructions. Another van of bodyguards followed along.
Soon, the family of three reached the chocolate museum. Calix led Leslie and Calliope to the VIP entrance, away from the common entry used by most of the visitors.
"Wow~ So many chocolates ah! It’s sweet!"
Calliope’s widened eyes brimmed with awe even before she stepped inside the museum. The sweet scent of cocoa lingered in the air, cocooning them in an irresistible warmth.
Holding hands with her papa, Calliope’s round eyes eagerly looked around the place, from one exhibit to the next. Each display caught her attention. Her antics earned soft laughter from Calix and Leslie.
"Wanna see how chocolatiers make chocolate first?" Calix glanced in a direction before his eyes fell on Calliope, "You’ll surely love it."
Instead of receiving a look of admiration from Calliope, the little one blankly stared at Calix.
"Choco... tyre? Papa, what’s that? Chocolate tyres?"
"Pfft!"
Leslie quickly covered her mouth while Calix shook his head in helplessness.
"Cho–co–la–tiers, chocolatiers," Calix repeated the word patiently, a smile tugging on his lips, "They’re pastry chefs, people who have high skills in making chocolate. So, wanna see them?"
Sparkles returned to Calliope’s initially confused eyes. Nodding her small head like a little chick pecking on grains, she exclaimed, "Want!"
Leslie and Calix exchanged a helpless smile. She reached out a hand, gently squeezing her husband’s right arm.
The family of three headed to the chocolate-making demonstration area. Crows gathered opposite the huge mirror walls separating the chocolatiers and the visitors.
"Wow~ Oh! Wowwwww!"
The curious Calliope openly stared at the master chocolatiers in white chef outfits. They worked their magic by melting, molding and decorating the chocolates. Their creations looked so exquisite and delicious at the same time.
"Little one, wanna try out chocolate?"
One of the chocolatiers, a young woman handed small chocolates to the visitors. Stopping before Calliope, she gently asked the little dumpling.
"Thank you~"
Calliope thanked the chocolatier after getting her share. Leslie and Calix chuckled seeing her face beaming with delight.
"Everyone who would like to try making chocolate, please join us in the studio," announced another chocolatier. The middle-aged man smiled at the visitors, "It’s just right there. The first session will begin in fifteen minutes."
Her interest piqued, Calliope quickly looked from Leslie to Calix repeatedly. The desire in her round eyes was too obvious, earning another laughter from her parents.
"Let’s try making some chocolate," Calix patted Calliope’s small head, "Which shape do you wanna try, Poppy?"
"Bunny and fox!"
Leslie smilingly looked at the beaming glow on Calix and Calliope’s countenances. She inwardly sighed in relief, knowing their family trip today would help to alleviate Calix’s worries about the unknown threat.
