Chapter 432: The Positive Changes in Her Daily Life
Leslie learned that Calix asked Edward to get these bouquets delivered to Graceville Manor. The chief assistant immediately contacted a reputable flower shop to realize the man’s order.
With a heart full of blooming flowers, Leslie encouraged Calliope to pose with the bouquets. She wanted to send the initially recorded video of their daughter and some flower photos to Calix.
"Mama! Come with Poppy! Take photos together ah."
The happy Calliope tugged Leslie’s right hand, wanting to pose with her mother. Aunt Wendy immediately offered to be the photographer.
The housekeeper was delighted to feel the merry vibe between the mother and daughter.
"Hehe, alright~ Let’s take some photos together and send them to Papa, en?"
"Okay!"
Mrs. An suggested Leslie and Calliope move to the garden outside instead of only taking photos in the lounge. Aunt Wendy swiftly agreed with the private nurse, even saying the pictures would come out better.
Thus, Leslie and Calliope were involved in an informal photography session. Uncle Raymond tagged along as Aunt Wendy’s self-claimed assistant.
The beauty of the summer morning was enhanced by the presence of the mother and daughter in the garden, holding a mixed bouquet of roses and sunflowers each. The sudden arrival of the flowers brightened the mood of the mother and daughter.
Eventually, the photos and a few short videos made their way to Calix’s phone.
"Mama will be in the gym," said Leslie to Calliope after the photography session ended, referring to the rehab station in the basement, "Poppy stays with Granny Wendy, en?"
"Okay~"
Ms. Yao and Ms. Chen had just arrived. Leslie told them to head to the basement first.
"Mrs. Leslie, should I put these flowers into a vase?" asked Aunt Wendy. She was holding the bouquet Leslie had received. "How about Miss Poppy’s bouquet?"
"Oh, yes. Please put them in a vase," Leslie nodded once, swiftly agreeing with Aunt Wendy. Her eyes wandered to Calliope, "Poppy, wanna do that too?"
"Roses and sunflowers live longer if they drink water from the vase right, Mama?" Calliope’s eyes sparkled, looking from Leslie to Aunt Wendy, "Want! Poppy want a pink vase, please~"
Bursting out into laughter, Leslie gently patted Calliope’s small head. Her eyes curved into a pair of crescent moons as joyful light flickered in them.
"Of course, you can. Mama will go and exercise now. Be good, en?"
"Okay~ Poppy is good ah."
Mrs. An brought Leslie to the rehabilitation room in the basement while Calliope followed Aunt Wendy to the store. The clock had just turned to a quarter after ten.
Leslie started with the speech therapy session. Ms. Yao mentioned she was close to being fully cured.
Leslie’s pronunciation improved greatly and the muscles used in speech regained their strength. She also didn’t have any problems to speak correctly.
"Mrs. Xu, I’ll discuss your improvements with Dr. Mo," said Ms. Yao while scribbling on her notes, "I think you don’t need intensive sessions anymore. Still, you must first meet Dr. Mo for your next check-up."
Leslie was beaming with pride for herself. Smiling brightly, she nodded once, "I will. Thank you for your help so far, Ms. Yao."
In slightly over half an hour, Leslie began her physical therapy rehab. Ms. Chen was as supportive as ever as she guided the young lady through the session.
Leslie pushed herself to walk longer than usual, including trying not to depend on the equipment. She was determined to get even better than before.
Unfortunately, Leslie couldn’t make it far without relying on walking gear. She was saddened yet, there was still a good part.
Leslie’s steps were less wobbly. Her leg muscles had recovered more strength, allowing her to walk further as long as she had a cane. She didn’t have to depend on the wheelchair fully anymore.
"When you’re in your room or any others, you can rely on the cane. But, you’re not suited for traveling between the rooms without your wheelchair yet."
Leslie quietly listened to Ms. Chen’s assessment at the end of today’s session. Her back was all sweaty from the force she exerted during her therapy.
"I understand. I’ll be careful not to force myself too much."
"Good. Mrs. Xu, do you find improvements in your daily life?" asked Ms. Chen after putting down her clipboard, focusing on Leslie fully, "For example, you can brush your hair faster than before. Or, arranging books on the shelf without feeling much strain on your wrists."
Leslie tilted her head, thinking about Ms. Chen’s inquiry. A smile was drawn on her lips as she nodded once.
"I definitely feel the positive changes. The more apparent one is when I have to deal with small objects. I’ve started eating by myself too. Hehe, I haven’t spilled much soup recently."
Leslie remembered the first time she attempted to eat without Calix feeding her. Her grip and coordination were better but, she still ended up spilling some soup. Fortunately, it wasn’t as much as her previous tries.
"That’s good. You’ve worked hard for over two months. Those are the fruits of your labor. Oh ya, I have a private question for you this time."
"En? What is it?"
Ms. Chen retained her professional demeanor as she voiced a question that cast a blush on Leslie’s cheeks.
"Mrs. Xu, have you and your husband resumed intercourse? Based on your physical state now, it won’t be a problem but, please keep it in moderation."
"Oh... I will... remember it..."
Ms. Chen thought nothing much about the redness on Leslie’s cheeks. She understood that most people were uncomfortable with this kind of private talk.
"Well, I think I don’t have to worry," Ms. Chen softened her voice, hoping to reassure Leslie, "I’ve seen how considerate your husband is to you, Mrs. Xu. He’ll surely think of your well-being in every matter."
Unsure of how she should reply, Leslie laughed dryly, "Haha... he does... He’s indeed considerate to me."
Leslie unconsciously clenched her hands together. She didn’t expect to receive this talk from Ms. Chen today.
Based on the improvements in their relationship now, she believed that particular moment would surely come.
