Chapter 427: Did the Red Thread of Fate Still Connect Them?

Leslie’s next focus was on the original Calix’s life. She was curious about what made Axel’s soul transmigrate into the young CEO.

Even though Leslie didn’t get to finish reading the novel, she knew Calix Xu and Charlene Li were destined to be a pair.

Now that both she and Axel transmigrated as Charlene and Calix respectively, what happened to them?

Did the red thread of fate still connect the two people?

How about their daughter?

Those questions came to Leslie’s mind after listening to her Calix’s story last night. She couldn’t help but feel guilty if she and Axel had unintentionally cut the original Calix and Charlene’s string of fate.

Looking at Mimo, Leslie quietly exhaled a sigh. She slowly regained her composure that was previously shaken. Her question focused on the beginning of Axel’s transmigration.

"Did Axel... transmigrate into Calix during the car accident six years ago? The timeline almost coincided even though the seasons weren’t the same. Did Calix actually... die? Unlike in the story?"

Calix got into the accident at the beginning of the year when winter had yet to leave. Axel met his demise on an autumn day.

Both accidents happened almost six years ago despite the gap between the seasons.

Calix’s story from a few months back resurfaced in Leslie’s mind. He said sometimes he felt strange being in his own body after waking up from his coma.

Most likely Calix felt that way because of Axel’s transmigration. With no memories of his previous life, the new Calix didn’t know the cause of that particular feeling.

The novel serves as a base but, changes beyond the storyline will happen either with your interference or not. Think of parallel worlds.

"...parallel worlds?"

Stunned, Leslie’s eyes widened. She hadn’t had the chance to ask anything about it because Mimo continued talking.

Axel’s soul transcended beyond space and time. He transmigrated when Calix died in this world, unlike the original story. Then, you and Calliope’s souls came here six years later.

Leslie parted her lips, wanting to say something yet, no words flowed from her mouth. She eventually told herself not to be impatient.

Taking some time to register Mimo’s words into her mind, Leslie stayed in silence. More questions branched out from the newly exposed pieces of information.

Yet, the most important question for now was the relationship between the original Calix with Charlene.

"The original Calix... had died years ago. Where did he go? Did Charlene and their Calliope go to where he is? Or, did he simply die? Won’t they become a family?"

Even though the original Calix died not because of Axel’s appearance, Leslie couldn’t help but feel guilty.

As how she wished for Charlene and her Calliope to live a happier life in another world, Leslie also hoped the original Calix would find new happiness.

After all, the man didn’t suffer grievances with his own family, unlike Charlene who chose to leave because of hers.

Thankfully, Mimo’s next explanation helped to ease Leslie’s worries.

They’ll be reunited. They live more ordinary lives but, are happier.

According to Mimo, the original Calix and Charlene would have normal lives instead of being in high society. The two destined lovebirds would cross paths, fall in love and get married like most ordinary people.

Their Calliope would be born out of love this time around, instead of due to the incident orchestrated by people with bad intentions.

The fated lovers would have several more children, enveloped in a happy marriage and family life. Both sides of their families were also compassionate people.

Leslie didn’t know what to say. Relief brimmed in her delighted heart. Covering her face with both of her palms, she held back from crying. Her entire body trembled once more.

"Thank goodness... thank goodness, Mimo..."

Charlene had endured tremendous hardship before her passing. She deserved all the happiness she could get in her next life.

Mimo said nothing. It slowly floated from Leslie’s lap before landing on her right shoulder. The crochet fox toy patted her back as if trying to comfort the troubled young lady.

Leslie, I understand what you’re worried about. Charlene let you build a new life through hers. Please don’t forget about it.

Leslie hiccuped, her body continued shaking. Fresh tears streamed down her face, expressing the immense sadness overtaking her heart.

"I know... it’s just... I feel sorry whenever I... remember how she got mistreated... by her own damn family!"

Leslie didn’t know why Charlene was still soft-hearted. The latter told her to forgive the Li family if they ever showed remorse for all the trouble and neglect they had done to her.

If Leslie didn’t receive Charlene’s memories during the latter’s pregnancy, she would surely forgive Rowan and Bianca at least. She wouldn’t ever care about the rest of the Li family.

After all, the spouses seemed genuine in trying to mend their broken relationship with their eldest daughter.

But...

Enough was enough!

They deserved no forgiveness!

Charlene might still be soft-hearted but, Leslie wanted nothing to do with such cruel people. Irene was her only maiden family from now on.

Shaking her head, Leslie quietly told herself not to let her emotions take control of her mind and heart. She hoped to get every answer to her questions by today.

Leslie lifted one hand, gently stroking Mimo’s head. The crochet toy was still sitting on her right shoulder.

"Mimo, back to Axel’s final wish... Aside from sacrificing his memories, what else led him to this world? And... me and Poppy next?"

Mimo was the toy crocheted by Axel right before his death. Leslie wondered if the fox toy had something more to do with their situation aside from simply being a messenger.

Leslie, you have forgotten what Axel had told you before, right?

Mimo’s cryptic question confused Leslie. Raising her brows, she asked the crochet fox toy back, "About what?"

Soft laughter echoed from Mimo. The red fox sounded happy, a contrast from how serious it was before.

Hehe~ About the yarn he used to make me. How is it? Does it ring a bell?

"...no way."

Blinking, Leslie was caught in a trance. Mimo’s words jogged her down the memory lane. She slowly dug deeper into her distant memories before a particular one resurfaced.

"The yarn balls from the temple... Axel had said something about it."

Mimo continued giggling, |Hehe~ Have you remember it?|

Pursing her lips, Leslie nodded once. Her reddened eyes gained another layer of tears.
