Chapter 425: Are They Really the Same Person?

Calix told Leslie he was currently flying above the vast ocean. It would take several more hours before he and his entourage landed in Zurich.

Leslie filled Calix in with the details of what she and Calliope did from morning to afternoon. He laughed a few times when she brought up their daughter’s funny antics.

"I thought I could talk to Poppy too. She has just started napping, en?"

Calix’s disappointed sigh earned chuckles from Leslie. She knew the man was dearly missing their little daughter as well despite only being separated for a few hours.

"Hehe, she asked about us going to the chocolate museum after you return," Leslie laughingly told Calix what Calliope mentioned this morning, "She seems excited ah."

Calix’s helpless laughter traveled from the end of the line, reaching Leslie’s ears. She couldn’t deny that her heart skipped a beat before it pounded quickly, bringing colors to her cheeks.

"Our little princess wants a trip to the chocolate museum. Of course, I’ll surely grant it. Hehe, maybe we can go there next weekend."

Calix was as eager as Calliope. After all, this would be their first family trip even though the location was still within their city.

Also, their family’s beach trip might happen at the end of this month or early next month.

Calix had instructed Edward to free his schedule for at least a week. Unfortunately, his chief assistant said four days including the weekend were the max unless he wanted to postpone the trip to another month or two.

Despite reluctantly accepting the arrangement, Calix still hoped to get more free time. He would most likely try to bring forward or push back any events he could.

"A trip to the chocolate museum. Then, our beach trip is next. Sweetheart, I can’t wait for both."

Hearing the smile in Calix’s mellow voice, Leslie curled up her lips. He had been talking about going on a family beach trip a few times already. She also looked forward to it.

"We’ll have a good trip on both," Leslie chuckled softly. Her eyes wandered to the bright sky outside the windows, "First thing first, return safely to us. Okay, honey?"

"As you wish, my sweetheart."

Leslie’s smile deepened. She believed she could see her entire face flushed red if there was a mirror opposite her.

Calix ended their phone call shortly. Before hanging up, he told Leslie to check the messages he would send in a second. She burst out laughing once she saw the images attached to the texts.

"Hehe~ What has he been doing ah?"

Calix took a few photos inside the flight, including the view from the windows. But, those were not ordinary and random pictures as one expected.

An adorable little model was inside every photo – Mimo.

"Poppy will surely love all these pictures, hehe."

Smiling in helplessness, Leslie carefully looked at every photo. The longer she did so, the more amused she got.

There was one of Mimo between flower vases. In the other, Mimo had a pair of sunglasses on. Next, Mimo sat at the window with the view of the vast ocean.

Leslie quickly replied to Calix’s photo messages.

[Leslie: Don’t tell me you’ll bring Mimo sightseeing and take its photos? 🤔]

[Leslie: What’s next? Mimo posing in your hotel?]

The man’s response came within seconds, followed by a kissing heart emoji.

[Calix: You just have to wait and see 😘]

Leslie bit her lower lip, sensing it trembled alongside her heart. She tried to hold back from laughing again, but giggles still slipped between her lips. Pure bliss twinkled in her eyes.

"Hehe..."

Putting the phone down, Leslie traced the outline of the sky and the puffy white clouds. She took some time to let her happiness settle in before focusing on another important matter.

There was something she had to do now.

"Mimo, can you come here?"

Leslie had already locked the door. She didn’t want anyone to suddenly come inside when she was talking to the air – conversing with the soul of Mimo.

Leslie, I’m here~

As usual, Mimo appeared as soon as Leslie called for its presence. The crochet fox toy’s soul floated in the air before it landed on her lap.

Lifting a hand, Leslie gently stroked Mimo’s round head. Even though it came in its soul form, she could still touch Mimo like usual.

The fox toy giggled as if it was happy with the head pat. Its antics brought a smile to her lips.

"Did you have fun earlier, Mimo? Calix showed some photos to me."

Aren’t I cute, Leslie? Hehe~ Show them to Poppy! Okay?

Mimo’s energetic responses made Leslie laugh in helplessness. She was glad to see the crochet fox toy not being bothered by Calix’s playful actions.

Patting Mimo’s head twice, Leslie quietly uttered with her eyes on its beady ones, "I’ll surely do that. Well, let’s cut to the chase. Can we talk about that issue now?"

Sure, Leslie.

Leslie took in a deep breath before slowly exhaling. She recalled everything she heard from Calix last night, including her own assumptions. Every story from him seemed to only solidify her theories.

"The most important thing..." Leslie locked her eyes into Mimo’s. Her tone slightly shaky, she forced herself to voice the question, "Are Calix and Axel the same person?"

Despite believing in her guess, Leslie still needed clarification from Mimo. Only the crochet fox toy—the one that brought her to this world—knew the absolute truth.

And, the answer was...

Axel’s soul occupies Calix’s body as you do with Charlene’s.

"..."

Blinking, Leslie slowly let Mimo’s clarification sink into her mind. Her hands that were holding the crochet toy trembled. Mimo put both of its paws on her lap.

I’m sorry, Leslie. I couldn’t tell you anything until now. I have certain rules I have to follow.

Leslie pulled herself out of her trance. Even though Mimo’s face couldn’t show any expression, she clearly sensed guilt and sadness from its voice.

"Mimo, don’t blame yourself..."

Leslie picked Mimo from her lap, bringing the crochet fox toy into her embrace. She sensed heat in her eyes as tears glazed over them.

"Mimo, I’m grateful enough for your help all this time. I was just shocked. I’ve never thought... to reunite with Axel in this way."

She initially assumed she was finally falling in love with a new man after the death of her lover years ago.

Never did once she expect the new man was actually her deceased lover.

What kind of miracle was this?
